  1. Well, no mod means no mod. But apparently it's massive drama and witchhunting on the JP datacenters that forced them to act. This makes a lot of sense because this is otherwise such a minor thing for them to suddenly crack down on and write a page long notice for, they would just ban the guy quietly if they caught him using third party and keep on with their day.

  2. Ill be honest i didnt know those marks where created with Plug ins. I just believed someone put them close to the right position after they cleared and the arena was the big one, and save it. Interesting

  3. This is clearly a problem since its a clear violation of ToS, however, this is mostly (not entirely) the devs' fault. I am all for the arena changing the way it does, I thought it was actually super cool, but this whole situation is a consequence of the restrictions on the waymark system. I get that they had to remove the ability to place waymarks mid fight due to cheaters using tools such as Paisly Parks during TEA prog, but there needs to be a way for us to fully access and place waymarkers on all aspects of the field. Update the system to validate and give us the ability to place waymarkers outside the arena and the situation would be solved. That way they don't have to adjust arena sizes to accommodate arena changes, allowing for more fight mechanic flexibility.

  4. I'm looking at the comments and seeing people crying "But my Add-ons" and I'm just sitting here thinking, "Do people not how to play MMO's without add-ons anymore." I though people enjoy being challenged by hard content. Using add-ons to tell you how to get pass each mechanics defeats the skill. People crying about why is this add-on is okay and this one is not, fuck it I say ban them all. This shit is going to cause them to put their foot down and they will either say yes to all add-ons or no to all. I don't want this game to become as bad as WoW then it comes to add-ons. Just look at what Deadly Boss mods and Weak Aura's has done to WoW's raiding scene. Those add-ons basically tell them the fight. When to use CD's,when to heal, when to dodge and etc. You aren't even allowed to join a mythic + group if you don't have those add-ons. Take those away and I wonder how many groups can clear the raids. Sorry just my personal opinions. Sorry for the rant.

  5. So I watched and listened. And what I got out of this is them asking us not to use them while it takes them possible several weeks to making them "legit" markers. Does that mean if we use them after the game goes back live that we will be banned? Cause I can't see them doing so since like the post said they are at this point circulated in the savage PF community and I just don't see people not using them when they are so handy.

  6. These markers set has become a norm in Tonberry PF groups and honestly its awesome for progging and clearing. Sure i can eyeball it now but that knowing the rough spot after seeing the waymarks. Personally will continue to use it until the legitimate method can be done. Honestly all this witch hunt is dumb especially it has benefitted the community and player base. Are people just unhappy that they others clearing p7s with an easier method that is being shared around?

Mods and addons should abide by 2 simple rule. Dont publicize and dont ruin it for others. If it helps others, dont make big issue about it, especially if its something to resolve an oversight by devs. This shouldnt be the norm and the devs should abide by their beliefs where mods and addons are not desired/needed for raids. Raids that entice the use of third party will only motivate players to start using it even if it against TOS. (Just cause rule says no doesnt mean people wont do it)

  7. actually you cannot place the Markers after you beat the boss, that's why its Illegitimate. If you can place the markers on the ground after the fight like Diamond Weapon, then its totally fair game

  8. The main argument for using "Illegal 3rd party bad boi addon badness illegality applications" as I see it is this:

    1) We need more than 5 waymarks. Seriously Squeenix. CBU. Yoshi. Greg. Whoever is in charge. 5 doesn't even cover relevant content you might want to do from a single expansion, let alone if you want to farm any older content.

This waymark placement is interesting, and useful to be able to copy/paste them from someone outside of the game, rather than having to pf just hoping someone will bring the waymarks. So please also add importing of waymarks, but just having the raw quantity to be able to do whatever content is so important.

Also as I understand things, the whole reason someone was doing it this way, is we can't assign the waymarks anymore mid combat, which to me is a big limiter on how creative they can be with arenas, since any arena changes, or irregular shapes, are going to require stuff like this instead of just being quick to drop a new waymark.

  9. need ffxiv players to stop dickriding devs and yoship constantly do yall know how much of the playerbase would be gone if they banned everyone that broke tos? that should probably say something about the quality of the vanilla game ESPECIALLY the waymark system and most of this game's ui.

  10. 100% devs' fault, if the arena changes mid-fight you absolutely should be able to place markers there. As far as getting people to "delete the old markers" LOL fat fucking chance

  11. This feels like such a BS complaint from square. "We made a broken game, and we don't appreciate your attempts to make it less broken." Allow marker placement mid fight or come up with some toehr solution. This seems like a really arbitrary restriction of which mechanics can be dealt with with markers

  13. This wouldn't have happened in the first place if Mr. Happy's friends in radiance didn't cheat and popularize pp back in the 5.1 days. If the person that first created these waymarkers got banned then it's only fair that every single person in TpS and their ninth mans, as well as whoever wrote the triggnernometry to make pp do everything automatically, should be permabanned since they benefitted FAR more from using illegal 3rd party software and getting a W1st for TEA than Mr. Sleepo who only did what should have NEVER been removed from the game in the first place

  14. Really guys? No mods means no mods. I fully understand wanting them but thems the rules. Im glad they are working to let people do this all within the rules though because this could have gone bad if they ignored it.

  15. At this point, just let the playerbase do certain things. Like moving markers midfight. The two handful of people who use automaker plug-ins and ruin their own fun with it don't matter. Not worth to make the game worse for 99% of the rest of the playerbase.

  16. Breaking ToS –> get penalty for it. Nothing to see here.
Funny thing here is the guy that they even bothered to break ToS for such a simple mechanic. I would have some sort of understanding, if there is NO OTHER WAY to resolve or maybe is an ultra hard mechanic, but a rather simple mechanic which has markings on the floor, that's why you would blatantly break the rules for?!
I just see people getting more and more lazy, just because they don't have patience to let themselves learn, so they can get gear, which most don't even need in the first place.
If you want bragging rights, then just get better. 6 months+ for 4 fights.

  17. To go back and find out who first placed them, SqE can look for the “offending” data and go back on all players saved data (remember the game do save and upload game client settings every now and then to SqE servers), until they find the very earliest of them, likely after a kill of P7S, and there is your “patient zero”.

  18. As someone who doesnt raid but has always had friends with some of the best raiders on Primal, its always fun to see crazy raid related drama. Oh this is juicy and im here for the free popcorn and memes

  19. As someone who has been clearing in pf, this markes are a God send. The strat will be a disaster without those markers but I don't see a lot of players in NA actually deleting them because of it

  20. My group is absolutely not dropping Sleepo purgation. We already spent an hour one-on-one with a healer getting them through it. Would be a real waste of prog time just to make SQ's life easier.

  21. See . . . I don't respect what YoshiP has to say here. They gave the players the ability to place them mid-fight, then took it away. If you take away something people were able to do, people will find a way to go around the thing they had done. If it's THIS much of a problem, they needed to not remove being able to place mid-combat. It makes stuff harder for genuinely no good reason.

  22. So the 1%ers can cheat and get away with it, with just one player 'taking a hit for the team' while the rest of us can get banned simply for placing a housing item 'illegitimaltely' .. SE should sanction EVERYONE who tries to load the illegitimate markers!

  23. Kinda surprised they didn't notice this during Diamond Weapon, which also had its illegitimate markers… then again those could be placed after the fight, so maybe they gave the benefit of the doubt there.

  24. On your last comment. That the people who break the rules also positively changed the game… It does prove that the development team doesn't look at people breaking rules and go "How do we stop this." but more "Why did they feel they needed to do this?"

Of course, the rule breaking needs to stop out of principle but it feels a lot better that this is often being achieved by removing the need to do so than to just smack down on the law.

  25. I think you wanna take a minute to re-read the whole post, cause I'm pretty sure you've misunderstood every part of it that describes the inner workings of the game.
Main misunderstanding: nothing about the data marks it as inherently illegitimate. They know it's illegitimate simply because it's impossible to create through legitimate means. The bits of floor the markers go on are not accessible either before the fight or after it, only during when you can't place them. We have no reason to assume this creates any problem for the servers, it's just that it's cheating.
Therefore everything about "what do if I bad markers" is meant in general, and they're only going to change it for this fight because the cat is already out of the bag.

  26. This is, in my opinion, such a bad response from Square Enix. The developers did not have the foresight to realize that players would want to place waymarks in the second arena. Punishing the original player for using third-party tools is understandable given the game's terms and conditions, however, not implementing a fix immediately is ridiculous to me. They could have remedied the issue immediately by allowing mid-fight waymark placement for this fight ONLY, while they figured out a more permanent fix. Alternatively they could have changed it so that the split arena would remain after the boss is defeated. The only thing they would need to change is the location of the exit portal and where the chests spawn.

  27. Seems like the time of relying on the players goodwill it's long over. Now we enter a time where the devs also have to deal with the increase of use of illegal mods and cheaters… and that is not good.

As it's often said: "We can't have nice things".

  28. sounds like a witch hunt in response to a shitty boss arena. their design sucked and players paid the price. glad they at least made some changes to the arena to allow legitimate placement of makers.
