A Realm Reborn QUICK Explanation – Final Fantasy XIV Story Recap

This is the story of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn explained in under 10 minutes. Enjoy!

Final Fantasy XIV was relaunched as “A Realm Reborn” in 2013 to critical acclaim. Since then, it has only gotten better with each expansion. In this series, I tell the story from the beginning, in 4 parts. I make use of the in-game voice acting as much as possible, and with my voice, I narrate in the gaps.

  1. wow! clean and to the point, love this! also props for blowing my fucking mind that Cid was Marqes. I skipped these cutscenes with such fervor i never even noticed LOL I always thought that dude just fell off the face of the plot and i never cared enough to look up what became of him

  2. Nice video! Short form recaps are always a welcome thing to have. I've got two quick notes though-

Garlemald itself isn't a neighbor to Eorzea, it's on an entirely different continent. Gaius operates out of the Castra and Ala Mhigo.

The other thing I wanted to mention is tempering- which you do talk about but I think it's important to say that the player's immunity to it is why they're able to contend with primals in the first place. That and the fact that pretty much everyone who was helping you with the Ifrit situation had to be executed due to tempering.

  3. Great recap! I played through ARR and Heavensward but took a long break and needed a reminder of the story before I start again. I really liked the way you highlighted the names of people and places that will be important later in the story, the game can kinda get carried away with introducing too many named characters that are only relevant for a couple quests, and it's not always clear who is actually important to the overarching story.
