  1. i thought about prediction 2 as well. dungeons are 1 player with 3 pets, raids and trials are 2 players with 6 pets, and alliance raids are 6 players with 18 pets. i think that could be a ton of fun without also turning into blue mage 2.0

  2. You sold me on the soloing 24 man raid with a pack of monsters. If I can't fight along side an army of tigers though I'll be pissed. Crazy cat lady time!

Good vid random v tuber who looks like he spends his whole life leaning on a water cooler.

  3. When you're putting up the options, you do have to understand that Beastmaster will be a LIMITED job, just like Blue Mage. This means:

    (1) Beastmaster won't be able to queue into duties like a normal job, they can only recruit or join a pre-made party, either via party finder or asking friends to join them. They can't get random players.

    (2) The only way they can enter duties is by clicking both the "Unrestricted Party" option, either doing a duty unsynced or using the "Level Sync" option to feign a normal duty by synchronizing their level.

    (3) Beastmaster, like Blue Mage, cannot do Trusts, Duty Support or Main Scenario quests. Neither can they do Ultimates. This means that Beastmaster, like Blue Mage, will become very overpowered at low levels.

Talking about your opinion that Beastmaster's combat will be like Pokemon, pet battles only: No, that's like saying that Blue Mage can only fight monsters to learn spells, and that would cause people to quit playing FFXIV if they find that the job they love to play around with is restricted to Lord of Verminion. If you want to draw similarities to Pokemon, I'd recommend using Pokemon: Legends Arceus as the combat there works more like FFXIV's overworld combat than the main titles, but it's not going to be restricted to pet battles, that's a dangerous mistake. But then again, who knows what f**ked up mindset Yoshi-P has for this limited job? ;p

I will say that Option 2 is intriguing, but considering that Yoshida said that Beastmasters could team up with Blue Mages, I do not see this as happening as that would mean that since you'd have to solo everything with your pets, not even Blue Mages could join the duties with you.

No, it would be option 3, where the beasts would be like FFX or FFXII's summons, the beast would appear and fight for a while before they get dismissed and you'd be using skills to buff them. This would make sense if Blue Mages were in the group as the Blue Mages can also buff the beast pets with their many amazing spells.

Well, we won't know until after Dawntrail goes live because, as they said, this limited job is not getting any information until after 7.3 as it's only being added in 7.4 or later. 🙁

  4. If we get option 3, my personal prediction is that it'll be omnirole like BLU but the game considers it a *tank*, and it'll have shared achievements with BLU.

A lot of mechanics in EW Savage and Extreme target based on role while being untelegraphed, leaving no room for adjustment as you don't know who has the mechanic until they've hit the floor. Those mechanics are there to hard enforce you having a standard comp of 4 support and 4 DPS, and if you don't bring that comp then no amount of changes to the strategy would make it not a coin flip. (Dualspell is the most immediately recognisable one, but it's far from the only one.)

If BST is a tank and shares achievements with BLU, a party of 4 BST and 4 BLU will be read by the mechanics as 4 support and 4 DPS, meaning they'll work as intended.
The alternative would be going back and changing the way the fight works when BLU's level cap increases to 90, but Seat of Sacrifice sets the precedent that they aren't willing to do so.
