  1. Don't forget that you need to be sure your fc has on their Seal Sweetener (highest rank possible) before turning armor in. This will aid your fc in their ranking up (goes up to 30) and allow them to continue to afford important fc buffs.

    Edit: spelling error

  2. You know, I haven't switched GCs since I got to Captain for the Adders and didn't want to lose it. I had no clue the rank reputation stuck. Now…I might switch until Endwalker at least. Hmm.

  3. Thank you for making these, I've been playing for maybe 2-ish, 3-ish years now(?) and honestly still don't know how many of the details in XIV work. There's so much to do and so much to learn, and even if there are in-game tutorials, I appreciate the tutelage from an experienced, frequent player like yourself. Looking forward to more 🙂

  4. I’m rank as Captain of my Immortal Flames GC Squadron as a Sprout 🌱 before lvl 70. I know it’s no big deal and can’t go higher in rank. But I feel good to know it says Captain on character when so many older players I’ve inspected says 1st, 2nd Lieutenant etc. If your not at max level much all that extra untradeable gear your not using Can just be all turned into seal for cosmetic items like the GC Lieutenants Coat which is very damn cool to rock and other unique items.

  5. Ive been sending dungeon gear to expert deliveries for years now. Mainly because i wasnt doing doh/dol stuff. Now that I've gotten into those I've been using desythnisis over turning stuff in for seals.
I think seals are still a better way of earning money overall, and im not sure what desythnisis is for still but the items i get from desythnisis do sell for a pretty penny sometimes.

  6. Gridania: Tree huggers who protect the forest. Very girly faction. Has the most beautiful waifu in the game as leader (Kan-E-Senna) but you have to put up with seeing cheesy, narcissistic players in Gridania at the aetheryte all the time, wanting to be seen by others in a really obnoxious way. The entire aetheryte platform is basically a big fashion catwalk which everyone uses to show off clothes, and it is completely infested by bards using their stupid Bard Music Player software to play cheesy pop song midi files (mostly because all rangers start in Gridania and therefore the path to becoming a permanently-glued-to-Gridania "Bard" is a natural one). The whole city is also completely infested by girls in flower dresses standing atop every rock, wanting to be seen by others. And their faction armor sets look like a mix between traffic cones and garden gnomes. It's a very obnoxious city due to the players that are attracted to it, to be completely honest.

Limsa Lominsa: Bunch of smelly pirates who constantly fight each other and who speak in incomprehensible ARR YE MATEY constantly, and it is the most decadent city in the game with the biggest weebs and weirdos and ERPers all hanging at Limsa Aetheryte. Good for people-watching but horrible as a permanent home due to all the crazy people there. And I do mean literally crazy in the "wtf, see a doctor" kinda way. And the leader Merlwyb Blowsawhale is a cheesy pirate woman. Really dorky faction. Their faction armor sets look really stereotypical and cheesy, with black, red and white colors and typical pirate/navy 1800s outfits.

Ul'dah: Pearl of the desert and lifeblood of all trade in Eorzea, which all passes through its walls. The richest nation, with a storied history of the Sultanate royal family. They have the strongest and richest warriors of all nations. Their leader Raubahn is the strongest fighter and is ready to do whatever it takes to win against our enemies. And their faction armor sets look badass, like gladiator warriors with horns and lion heads everywhere. The aetheryte is hidden away in a dark tunnel which means that Barbie people can't just hang around with their glamour at the aetheryte to show off, since nobody can see their outfits in there, hahaha. To sweeten the deal, the Ul'dah faction hall is right at the Aetheryte meaning you are instantly there when you teleport. The city's inn is very close to the aetheryte and has a great design, with fast access to all parts of the city (airships, trade district aetheryte, etc). They are also the only city with a direct, free route to/from the Golden Saucer, where players will be spending lots of time chilling at minigames and earning MGP for the various awesome rewards you can buy with MGP. And to finalize the deal, Ul'dah is the sanest city in the game with basically no weirdos or ERPers at all, because the layout and dark aetheryte tunnel and brutal story of the city basically scares away all of the awful, casual narcissists, Barbies, Bards and other weirdos.

I am not biased at all. I picked Ul'dah for these reasons. It's the only city that will give you peace every time you visit it. You can visit the other cities manually if you want to subject yourself to weirdos at your own leisure. 😉

  7. One other thing that Squadrons are useful for is the temporary buff scrolls they can collect for you when you send them out on missions on their own. Some of the buffs they give can be quite useful, especially if you don't have an FC with active FC buffs.

  8. this is a pretty good guide to grand companies, there is 1 thing that was not mentioned that i am unsure about, when swapping back and forth between GC's, do your squadron AI people retain there levels, or do you have to start from level 1 each time?
