  1. EN: I really like her cadence of speaking but it sometimes feels a bit stiff to me? The accent sort of comes and goes in a weird way. Maybe it's just her character's personality that she is still getting used to, she sounded great in the trailer!

  2. I prefer to play the game in Japanese. I think the JP VA did a great job. It would have been better if they gave her a different dialect, like Kansai. Still definitely better than the impression I got from the trailer. As for English, I liked how she sounded in the trailer, but the voice acting in these cutscenes seems a little inconsistent from one scene to the next. Maybe it was an issue of direction.

  3. I really hope it's not too late to get a new english voice for her.
the guy they've got now just doesn't sound good at all. If we kick up enough of a fuss on the forums, they might just listen in the 5-7 months before release.

  4. While I do think that the ENG voice over sounds real stiff sometimes. I think the voice overall fits a female hrothgar way more than the other languages.
It's something I could imagine coming out from her mouth.

  5. I liked her voice more in the trailer. Can’t explain it, there’s a something a little off in game. It’s not every line though. I like her voice more in every other language. It’s not bad in English, it’s just a preference. Maybe it the more feminine sound she has in the other three languages. Might be the accent.

  6. I been waiting for a vid like this to appear!

JP voiced Ayaka Shimoyamada literally destroyed some of my buds who play english dub and now playing JP voiced english sub 😁😁

  7. I mentioned yesterday that the en version of her sounded like a dude and they mentioned the VA was trans. They got doubly mad when I said that doesn't matter she sounds like a dude and her gender doesn't have anything to do with my criticism. Hands down worst version of her.

  8. EN : full tomboy, try to be strong, but soft inside, Warrior.
JP : more girly, try to be tomboy (welp most tomboy in JP is more girly than western), soft, not that tomboy.

Others : I don't usually know their language and voice.

Wuk for me is not look like girly type at all, kinda like Moen, but less brain, less IQ.

So I would rate EN>JP for her.

  9. I'm gonna be honest is her voice in the eng trailer even the same voice ingame? They sound completely different to my ear. If they are the same I hope the trailer was recorded later and indicative of the va getting more comfortable in the role.

  10. I feel like all VAs did a really great job. Their differing voice range probably gives a different impression on how old Wuk Lamat is like, but her personality conveyed in all 4 languages are uniform.

  11. I was hoping for a more Carribbean/Jamaican accent in English. I felt the voice didn't fit the setting or character.

And the personality of this character is one I never tend to like as I find them annoying. The I'm strong and fearless, yet she's shaking upon seeing a talking parrot xD. I hope as during Dawntrail goes on, her attitude changes/mature.

She's definitely no Lyna. Her VA and Icelandic was just so good 😉

  12. I don't think the translation does German any favours, it just sounds less… fantasy. Also the complaints about her English voice are kinda… odd. She sounds foreign, she supposed to, it's right for her character 💁‍♀ I can't imagine people would be complaining less if she was putting on a specific real world accent either. Sometimes I wonder if people are observing the same media

  13. Did the same person do both the Japanese and the French voices? They sounds so alike…

But damn… after hearing the German Venat (who's incredible, despite having a… less than perfect script to work with), I was having some hope for the German VA, but nope… once again someone sounding more like reading a book to an audience, than acting out a scene. It's too clearly and precisely pronounced, like it's being read for children to learn proper High German from, which would already be a bit out of place for a prim and proper character, but for someone who's more of a rough and tumble kind, that seems to dislike protocol and formalities, it clashes horribly with their personality.
And the script… technically correct, but no real person would ever word things like that in casual conversation.
It just feels unnatural all the way through. :/

I feel like Square really needs to replace their German script writers and voice director.
