  1. 3:02 – Krile is called "Kururu" in Japanese. "Vanes", or as she's actually called, Venes, is called Venat in the English version.
6:03 – 魅力的 doesn't necessarily mean attractive in the sense of beautiful, it's more along the lines of charming/fascinating. Intriguing would've worked better than attractive.
8:00 – This is more like "Wow that was quite a climactic twist" not "a big turning point and a big turning point".
山場 can be read as "turning point" and 分岐点 could realistically ALSO be read as turning point, but together 山場で分岐点 is more like "junction by the climax." Climactic twist sounds better in English.
9:12 – Agony is actually accurate, but I don't think they mean literal agony. Granted knowing game dev, that could well be the case. In this case read it more like "we're giving it our all atm"
17:24 – 暁月のフィナーレ, is Endwalker. "Finale of Dawn" is just the Japanese title for Endwalker, like how Golden Legacy is of Dawntrail.

  2. Yoshi P is just class man. Was getting sad about him talking about possible retirement in the future but then he drops that joke about complaining to the devs as a player 😂😂😂😂

  3. I honestly like the part he mentioned his peace in regards to Death if it ever one day comes to him (hopefully not anytime soon) and give his confidence the team will comtinue business as usual if he was to eventually kick the can, or better yet retires and beome a gamer like Sakaguchi; like one of us.

I can say for me and everyone he stay with us for many more years to come till we all eventually fade away, looking back on FFXIV when future mmo gamers of FFXXV; cringe yet proud us FFXIV are still around, playing mmo 😇😇

  4. I feel a bit concerned about that stance of treatring the game as a solo final fantasy, the game is still supposed to be an MMO, we're paying a sub and everything. If they want to steer clear of the genre, they should also change their business model at this point. I have a feeling that SE saw what happened with WoW during BFA/Shadowlands and got scared it could happen to them too, thus why we got much less long term content outside of raiding for EW. I really hope DT rebalances this to go towards what we had back in ShB, which had a healthy amount of grind, without feeling you had to quit your job to complete it.

Great interview though, I really enjoy these, thanks for sharing!

  5. Some really nice insights in this interview. I quite like how they prefer to look at other games, and at the FF series as a whole, for inspiration for ideas as opposed to just being completely focused on MMOs because, frankly, MMOs haven't evolved much at all for decades. FF14 doesn't always get everything right but at least it feels like it's trying to do different things and appeal to different players.
I also really liked how he talked about the younger and less experienced developers on his teams. That's one thing that's always impressed me about CBU3. All of the big dogs in CBU3 could just coast on their careers and accomplishments but instead YoshiP is always looking to give others a chance to learn and grow. Even if they don't end up taking over for him one day, they'll be better game developers for it and they'll be the ones making the next generation of games, and YoshiP has never been shy about giving credit where it's due to those who work under him instead of just taking the credit for himself.

  6. Just something to consider, Meoni- ChatGP or a similiar generative AI is amazing at translating articles like these (it's about one of the only things it's genuinely useful for)

  7. Dude this is a joke if he honestly said this is the second rebirth because everything they announced was just the same old shit. The 2 jobs to me were ehh and beastmaster a year after the expac comes out of hilarious. But absolutely nothing new. Hot trash. Squeenix needs to stop remaking old games and make something new!
