  1. Towers have been shown to temper ppl. The whole last part has to deal with tempering and how to fix it. Zenos is going to become a primal, hell HE might be Zodiark in a way. Fuse with him like he did with Shinryu (I hope not because that would be lame.) But there are the speculations.

  2. I know I'm being nitpicky, but I want to clarify that in FF4, the party goes to the moon using the Lunar Whale, which is NOT a re-purposed airship. It is a Lunarian ship, and it awakens to the prayers of the Mysidians and rises from its slumber in the ocean depths. While I don't think it out right says it, I've always believed that it belonged to Cecil's father, which makes sense because his spirit is on Mt. Ordeal.
Sorry, I know I'm being a lore nazi, but at the same time, the Lunar Whale's origin may prove to be a clue as to how we get to the moon.

  3. It could be Zodiark is the seal and a Zeromus-like Terminus creature—or Zeromus itself—is what is sealed in the moon. Something that struck me during the Amaurot Duty is the three Terminus boss creatures seemingly appeared out of nowhere, but their designs are much like the Ascions when they go full one-winged angel form. So perhaps those three creatures were not just the fears of the ancient Ascions but actual aetheric mutations of doomed Ascions warped by a malevolent entity such as Zeromus.

Further speculation is Fanadiel is a Golbez-like figure—under this entity's control—destroying the seals on the source.

Furthermore, I don't think the Unsundered were unaffected by the entity behind the Terminus creatures. Zodiark may have only delayed an inevitable transformation of any and all remaining Ascions into such monstrosities, which is why it was necessary for Hydaelyn to shatter the world.

  4. My theory is that Fandaniel (which every time I write his name I think of Fandango) was responsible for the original end of the world. I also theorize that he was the one that convinced the convocation to sacrifice the new life to restore the sacrificed in order to sow the seeds of conflict within the remaining ascians. Since the personalities of primals are shaped by the desires of their summoners, I imagine that the negative characteristics of Zodiark were brought about by Fandaniel's hidden intentions.

  5. It’s not a zit. It’s the symbol of an eye. Recently watched shinryu primal imprisoned and a similar eye forms right above it before the blocks form around it when papalymo gives his life to seal it. When you look at the book upon speaking to the librarian regarding the many minfilias— the eye symbol appears there too. It’s literally all over the place.

  6. Theory: Zenos will get the Emet treatment wherein he gets a lot of tragical uguu backstory that makes the party sympathize with him despite untold atrocities.
I miss when villains like Sephiroth and Seymour got a lot of backstory but none of the party ever like felt bad for them.

  7. I like your speculation! I can see Ragnarok replacing the Lunar Whale's role in the story (I'm not expecting it to be featured now that it's been repurposed as a purchasable mount). I feel that the Lunar Cry will be a threat to prevent so we don't have a darkness version of the Sin Eaters on the Source.

Given that Zenos is essentially presented as the WoL's dark foil, I would not be surprised if Fandaniel turned out to be a foil for G'raha Tia, who seeks to travel with a representative Warrior of Darkness to destroy rather than protect, has connections to ancient knowledge he feeds to Zenos for his own purposes (while having secrets of his own) and would betray Zenos willingly if need be. I'm on the Allagans = Lunarians train and believe there's an even deeper tie between Allagans and the Ascians than we know, so that could be one of Fandaniel's mysteries. What if Fandaniel's motivation was to sacrifice "his" warrior rather than journey with them?

  8. My speculations depend on if we visit Garlemald or Thavnair first. The way to get to the moon will be from one of those places. It's easy to say Garlemald will give us access to the moon but I think it's possible we can get there from Thavnair. Whichever ends up happening we'll probably fight Fandaniel as a dungeon boss between 85-89 and Zenos will be around 85-90. At about level 88 I imagine we'll be going to the moon and level 90 we'll fight something with a connection to Zodiark.

  10. As someone said before the particular recolor of the undead dragon was used exclusively in the amarot dungeon so it is recreating the terminus I think was the name given to them, however since they can be recreated… I have a feeling Fannypack was the real cause of the first final days… otherwise im curious how these terminus are able to be created since theres no panic from amarotians to "create" them.

  11. in most of the fiction ive seen towers like the ones you talk about are to ward a place to keep stuff away so the first signs of an invasion would be for them towers to be destroyed?

  12. I haven't yet seen anyone theorize about this, but the moon also looks a lot like Cocoon from ff13- and I have to wonder if they could do something like the moon falling to Eorzea and being stopped.

  13. Point of correction (FFIV spoilers ahead): In FFIV, they did NOT repurpose an airship made by Cid. The Lunar Whale was actually created by the Lunarians, the race that lived on the Red Moon (FFIV has two moons, much like FFXIV originally did). KluYa, the Lunarian father of protagonist Cecil and early-game antagonist Golbez, brought it to Earth and hid it away, where it remained until the Mysidians' prayers awakened it so that the party could travel to the Red Moon.

  14. Zodiack will kill Fandaniel because Zodiack was summoned as the symbol of the planets to protect it, and Fandaniel wants to destroy the planet.
So Zodiack and Fandaniel probably enemy at each other.

  15. I'm pretty sure Fandaniel and Zenos want to kill Zodiark, or at least use his power. Unless I'm remembering things incorrectly, Fandaniel approached Zenos with promises to kill the Unsundered and Zodiark, because Zenos was pissed that Elidibus had taken his body. Plus, Fandaniel pretty explicitly laughs his maniacal ass off at the thought of Elidibus finally being gone, and being unbound to the will of the Unsundered.

  16. We always hear the ascians say that the rejoining will allow Zodiark to break free of his prison or his chains. If he is indeed imprisoned that means his physical form is somewhere (if we use what we know of primal imprisonment from the containment bay trials and the ultima fight) and the best bet would be the moon especially considering something that was said back in 3.2 by the Word of the Mother. "Thus was I forced to banish him unto the distant heavens, to forever remain apart, A moon bound". I get the feeling that Zenos will merge with Zodiark in the same way he did with Shinryu and as a counterweight we will either fuse or be empowered by Hydaelyn and at the end of the fight we either imprison Zenos/Zodiark or the fight eventually drains both Zodiark and Hydaelyn of their strength, I don't see us only wiping out Zenos/Zodiark as the game has show that balance is extremely important.
