  1. I know this is a really hard video to put out there but honestly, you're such a king for doing it! And you did it in such a respectful and more informative approach too! Proud of you Kou <3

  2. >says how va don't concent using their voices
    >5 minutes later: voice impersonation is ok
    little sun u ok?

Ai voices in Sufferhymn's videos are just cherry on the top, he could've used any other voices and it still woulde've been great
And I think people who hate ai are just scared to lose their jobs because of ai and don't care about their fans who want more content with them
But the thing is ai will make many people lose their jobs regardless and not only in art industry, we're going to a new era and we'll have to learn to live with it the same when industrialisation happedned
Oh and yeah they won't lose their jobs because of ai memes… I don't understand how adults can cry about shit that doesn't physically hurt them, I bet they cry even when a dog barks on them. Saying how they spent all their lifes on training their voices yet being so unconfident, they should be happy people love their voices so much. Ofc that doesn't apply to situations when people are using their voices to make creepy stuff, but then again do we really know if they hate all ai content or they just saw someone misuse it and started hating all of it not seeing the good side of ai(more content, btw don't we have this drama because we lack content in ffxiv rn)?

  3. Man, look at all them AI bros and Sufferhymn's whiteknights frothing at the mouths in the comments already.

I think the main issue isn't "people's jobs being stolen", but rather "people's likeness being stolen and used against their will". You can still get sued for using someone's image without permission, so I don't see why using someone's voice shouldn't be treated the same way.

Long story short – if someone asks you not to use their likeness in AI, you respect it. No ifs and buts, it's really not that hard.

  4. i don't get it. it's like, almost immediately obvious that it's AI to me. why would some random guy spend however much to pay every one of these voice actors to say ridiculous and embarrassing stuff?

did he handle it the best? probably not. was it a big deal? no. people found a way to corner somebody who makes funny and creative stuff and i don't respect that. i can get behind what the VAs are saying, but doing things like this and making a person feel terrible about something they're proud of is just wack to me

  5. Im sorry, but if AI automating voices is a problem then those same people should crusade against AI replacing everyday people in every day jobs. It is literally an all or nothing in this case. VA losing careers to AI is the least of the concerns of AI. No one cares. If people want a message to resonate, it needs to showcase the problems of every day people, not the most privileged in the world. They will earn no sympathy.

  6. I think the hard wall is when the VA's themselves ask you to stop. There might not be regulation yet with this sort of stuff, but until there is. I think that should be the hard limit on things. If a VA gives concent, then sure.
It might be a scary thought for them for someone to be able to say anything they want with their voices especially things they feel strongly against IF THAT WERE EVER TO BE THE CASE.

  7. a violinist have to spend years of his life to master his tecniques. But on the other hand using a program to avoid spending 20 years of learning that instrument and doing it with a keyboard, or even a pc, without any musical theory its the same case. On one hand its understandable that you want to protect craftmanship but on the other hand the technology its here. Imagine the amount of creativity you can generate with a simple emulator. Ofc all things have good and bad sides.
I think in a few years game developers will use full AI generated voices, its cheaper and you could use the same voice in all languages. We should not punish technological shortcuts.

  8. It’s kinda expected to see people being diverse in the comment section since it’s a grey area for those to discuss what is right or wrong. I remember seeing one movie that was using AI for their graphics and their characters. It was really lazy and almost gave me epilepsy.

While I do think that Sufferhymm is in the wrong and I personally have mixed up feeling about it, it depends on how the situation is handled in both parties

  9. Biggest issue with AI is Companys Thinkng its a great way around paying HUMANS. as well as the fact that The Art community as a whole doesn't like their work being stolen for AI, their pics, Voice, Writing all being stolen by AI

  10. This is one of the major reason Hollywood is striking. It's super fun and I get that. But the issue is why should a company continue to pay VA's when they can just do this? Now all text in FFXIV can be voiced. We need laws FAST to cover AI. Just like copyrighted music, actors (and their voices) should be getting money from the use of AI. And by default it shouldn't be used with artist being able to opt in to AI stuff, and then collect royalties. Along with rules of what can and can't be done. Aka advertiser safe.

  11. Strong disagree here. Nobody has a unique voice, nobody has a unique look. At least unique enough to have someone unfamiliar with the two people having an easy time telling them apart. There's doppelgangers everywhere. Best get used to the idea you aren't special, looks like some privlaged class of people are finally going to learn what most of us have already figured out.

  12. Makes a whole lot sense why voice actors don't want AI of their own voice anywhere because if becomes a norm. Then bigger corporations will realize that and try to implement it their own way, to quote and quote save money. Also, it does take away their art form of their own voice which I think is just weird to take away from a person.

  13. Also using AI is not cutting corners. Creative minds should not handicap themselves to cater to the egos of others. I do not want to live in a world where only billionaires who can afford a roster of talented voice actors are allowed to have a monopoly on content tyvm. I also don't see the difference between using edited voice clips and AI either. You can use both to make someone say something they never said. If one is okay then they should all be okay.

If you want to respect people's wishes to not have their work stolen then please get rid of your phones. Because the minerals mined to make your phone was obtained with stolen labor. Slave labor. This is how the world works. Funny how we can only care about one class of people while giving the middle finger to another.

At least be honest and real. I for one enjoy technology and will happily use it to enrich my life even if it came at the expense of another. Just like everyone else in my country. Not gonna virtue signal like I'm some Saint.

  14. There's nothing wrong with using AI voice as long as you don't use it for profit or you copyright it. That is the rules of AI, as long as it's not changed no company or anyone can claim it, it's free use program. Before ppl jump the gun they should use the Internet and search for laws and rules of things.
Btw if someone is using your voice or performance to make money or copyright, you can use them.

  15. Support. 👏 And respect. 👏 Artists. 👏
Convenience doesn't justify the blatant disregard for these VAs privacy and rights. Thank you Kou for talking about this so in depth and for calling them out openly, you're a King for this 👑

  17. Even editors of Asmongold clip channel has been using AI generated voice of David Attenborough. The dangers of AI generated voices is real. What we have now is simply people using it for entertainment, but if gets accepted it could be misused for personal defamatory attacks on voice actors. People could literally string out words of voice actors they have never said, and it could be used as an attack on their personal reputation.

  18. not everyone agrees with the stance of anti AI artists of any stripe. This isn't something that is going away, and it will only get more and more… let's say disturbing for people who oppose these advancements. While I like these artists, appreciate their skills, this ship has sailed. What is going to happen is they are going to lobby governments for laws to enforce it, and even if laws are passed, it will be entirely unenforcable. The best these artists can do is learn from the legacy of piracy in relation to steam games and make their skills available. However, they're going to have to learn their skills aren't as valued as they used to be. This is the ugly truth, but the truth nonetheless.

  19. The only reason this is even a talking point is purely due to it being about someone/something the community cares about vs. it being objectively right/wrong. Speaking of which, using AI voices is in fact NOT objectively wrong. The "worst" thing it's doing is hurting some people's feelings, which is to say, so what?…

By many people's own words here, even in this very video, paying voice actors is ok, paying people to do impressions is ok, and doing impressions yourself is ok. However, in what realm does it make a lick of sense to NOT legally save time and/or money?…..People are mad about him not doing something the way THEY want him to.

More importantly, let's point out the obvious here for everyone out with their proverbial pitchforks – most/all of them are giant hypocrites anyway. These same people crying about not paying/respecting artists same types that have numerous songs downloaded, watch pirated media, and several other ILLEGAL things on a regular basis.

TL; DR – It's not as big a deal and those claiming to be "offended"/"affected" will be alright.
