  1. Been playing XIV for just over a year and a half with some buddies of mine and we're just now getting into Shadowbringers after 600+ hours of gameplay. The time it takes to play through the game varies a lot from person to person, and I really encourage everyone to play through the game at their own pace, even if it takes a long time!

  2. I was at 109 days the last time I checked, and I'm pretty sure I've packed in a few more hours. I am currently exploring Eureka for the first time, and planning a cosplay glam, and getting my alt enough money to buy an apartment because I'm always thinking up new decoration ideas. I spent far too much time between msq just wondering around or crafting to have any sense of how long the msq proper is, but I've had a blast this past year and a bit at it.

  3. Great review. As a returning player who restarted I kinda underappreciated how much time I must have put into it since I'm in Stormblood on my old main XD

  4. honestly i’m new to these kind of games but i’ve been having fun with everything in this game even tho ppl complain about the MSQs. Probably because i take breaks in between to do other stuff like fishing

  5. Take your time and enjoy the journey. It took me just over a year and 1400 hours to complete the MSQ. I did a lot of side content, talked to all tbe NPCs and never skipped any text. I still feel I rushed it, but I was trying to avoid Endwalker spoilers. Easilly could have doubled those hours and not be bored.

  6. I started June a few years ago. I was taking my time, bought the complete edition when it was on sale to get all the Expac’s. Wasn’t even expecting to beat Shadowbringers by the time EW came out.

35 days. That’s all it took to beat Base Shadowbringers. With breaks, watching every cutscene fully, getting distracted, AFKing a bit, doing almost every normal and alliance raid, even trying to start up some tribals and relic weapons, etc. My total playtime didn’t even break 275, somehow. I’m definitely in the minority and my story still blows people away. When I got through base EW when it released in 35 hours despite these same things, that was wildly on the long end. And the fact things would arguably be shorter now thanks to a lot of the changes since then? Scaling that upwards, less than 320 hours per expac, with each expac being handled like its own game. Needless to say, with that Free Trial getting expanded, I wonder what we’ll see come from others like me. Someone beating it to 4.5 in the span of just 24 days without skipping and doing all the raids and trials, maybe?

  7. Took me 3 months no lifing to reach the end of 5.5

I've been chill playing through endwalker, and the main patch took me about a month

I'm pretty sure if you play 5 hours a day, you can finish the game within 5 to 6 months

  8. I did just blow through the msq myself, and did it within 4 months. But I did no side content at all. I have been playing for about a year and a half, and I'm just now done with all the yellow and blue quests. Although I did decide to not finish any of the not current relic weapons.

  9. Thanks for sharing this information. I’ve been playing since the game’s relaunch in 2013 and keeping up with every patch release. This means all story has been bite sized and, given the ARR revamp, I have almost no concept of how long it takes for new players to get through everything. Gives me an idea of how to convey the amount of hours all the story can take at a reasonable pace.

Good thing New Game+ exists for those who wanna skip to latest expac and then check out all that backlog of story on their own time and in chapter progressions.

  10. 6000 hours here. I am finishing now last Anima relics and resistance weapons. Then all Eureka weapons 😀
But there's still many things for me to do … that are time consuming xD

  11. I'm at 5.5k hours atm, working my way through the ultimates with a group of friends. It's more of a lifestyle at this point. I took the story pretty slow. I think I spent like 5 months in the post patch ARR content just doing extremes and coils before moving on to Heavensward. Great time, honestly.

  12. The misconception is that time you spend playing alone or with people. Given that you will encounter all sorts of people online and make much of the experience unique every time you play.
