Gearing in FFXIV Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Patch 6.3



I was a bit suprised to find that so many FFXIV players had gripes with gearing. However, after hearing some arguments I came to agree. So, let’s talk about gearing in Final Fantasy XIV Endwalker Patch 6.3 Gods Revel Lands Tremble.

  1. Tier set bonuses sounds WAAAAAY too Warcraft Brained when it comes to gearing.
    Gonna have a hard pass on that one not just for balance reasons tieing player power to the gear you wear will always be bad because if an item lets you play in a new and interesting way but then you take that away – instead of feeling the same you'll feel worse because… as an example a tier set bonus that would let a white mage assize twice or something… taking that away would feel shitty if the next tier set bonus is like if you cast cure 3 you get the next cure 3 free. It'll feel like I had this cool DPS bonus and now my tierset just lets me heal more which I was already good at doing. So as you mentioned you gear but your gameplay stays the same that's actually better than giving something and then taking it away.
    Tome idea for specific roles would be bad too because now instead of grinding one resource you have to grind multiple resources.
