  1. Your jests about being unable to speak while Thancred and Alphinaud tease Bricc about being silent are an interesting benchmark for how far the game has come since those early days of ARR. While the WoL still has a reputation for being the strong, silent type, nowadays you do get dialogue options with a fair degree of frequency. They're very rarely meaningful decisions that actually alter the outcome of anything, but it is nice that the devs have over time steadily given more and more options and ways to flesh out their individual character's personality.
