Xeno's P5S Bite (Devour) Braindead Strategy – Final Fantasy 14 P5S Mechanic Guide

In this video Xeno explains his very simple strategy for the P5S (Pandaemonium Abyssos: The Fifth Circle (Savage) – Proto-Carbuncle) Party Finder destroyer mechanic known as Devour, where the boss jumps around the arena in a hard to follow path. Xeno also gives the entire guide in uwu for those who weren’t able to follow.

  1. I think PF is beyond redemption at this point if they can't even handle a brain dead strategy. I've spent the last 4 days trying to find a group that can do this mechanic 100% right and it's just not happening.

  2. DIdn't even watch the video until the moment the strat is shown. That said, the strat from the video Xeno watched is extremely risky and requires precise timing. The one shown by Xeno (and Hector for that matter, since it's basically the same) is easier.

  3. I love the back and forth pattern way too much, it's fucking hilarious and fun, and it's a single strat fits all.

Of course, in PF, people can do whatever the fuck tehy want, as long as everyone lives to the end.

    Oh right… PF…. uhh…..

  4. It feels so baffling that the only real and most simple strategy is “brain dead”. Literally when progging with the static I realized “Oh if we just reach where the boss hits twice, we’re safe so long we’re not to far in to get hit by nearby jumps”. It’s not brain dead it’s logic. Brain dead would be like, 100% guarantee safe spot for either pattern which doesn’t exist

  5. I kinda do the same thing but different for circle – I preposition in the spot next to the first AOE. Shift into it immediately, wait for the AOE on the opposite side of me to explode, move back into that one, then just run straight across like zig zag pattern.

  6. I am so embarrassed for party finder that this is apparently a hard mechanic.

There are two patterns. Position your camera the same relative to where ut starts, identify which pattern it is, and then replay the movement pattern required for that pattern. It isn't complicated. If you always stay on the opposite side of the jump you can dance around the middle pixel with almost zero movement; you can do this mechanic while RP-walking if you want

I position my camera so the first spot is NW, everything else is relative to that.

If the boss goes NE and then back NW it's a "short" pattern. Staying nice and close to the middle, start SE, go SW, SE, NE, NW, and go out more NW.

If the boss goes NE and the SE, it's a long pattern. Again staying nice and close to the middle start SE, go SW, NW, NE, then turn around back to NW, SW, SE, and go out more SE.

That's it. You do one of those two movement patterns. Now start looking for your tower and go to it when it's safe. I struggled way more with like the memory game, idk man.

  7. Great video Xeno haha! I can see why people are calling it braindead but as others said that implies a guarantee and ease of safety. This might rather be simplified strat. But yeah Hector's revised guide had this too. After a few pulls had it down. Thanks!
