How I Became Addicted to Final Fantasy XIV… (my journey)

This video contains vague story moments from both A Realm Reborn & Heavensward in their respective sections of the video. I included them because I felt it outlined my journey, but also I felt they were vague enough that someone who hasn’t played the game wouldn’t think twice about it. I’d never want to throw in Endwalker spoilers (I’m not even there yet) but I feel like both ARR & HW are old enough now (9 and 7 years old respectively) that it didn’t matter too much, especially when the clips don’t mean much unless you’ve played the game, I usually do include spoiler warning but I felt these were so old now that the grace period has sort of worn away, but I’ll make sure to add it in future videos regardless.

  1. I’ve always wanted to really get into an MMO. I have played WoW and ESO, and also recently got back into ESO for about a week. It got pretty boring fast because I don’t have any friends that play MMOs, and to me that seems like the best part of the experience. Final Fantasy isn’t really my thing, but it sounds like you’re having a ton of fun with it!

  2. Stupid addicted. I started on PS4 in 2015 and still play on PS5 with over 1500 hours 😬 Endwalker server issues pissed me off quite a bit the first month it was out so I only get on every couple of weeks now versus every single day.

  3. I'm on a journey to Platinum and get 100% of the trophies for all the Final Fantasy and Assassin's Creed games in order, and I reached XIV. I was so overwhelmed going in for countless reasons, but it was all so worth it. I started at the end of October and as of today, I have done everything in the game, gotten 80% of the mounts, leveled every job to at least 50, and even joined a static for raiding the new Savage and Ultimate raids. XIV has consumed my soul, but it's totally worth it

  4. been playing since 1.0- you have no idea the horror that game was 😀 at least the devs play their own game and listen to the community 🙂 endwalker blew me away it was the most satisfying conclusion to a story 10 years in the making 🙂

  5. Welcome to Eorzea!

My husband and I played WOW together since about 2009, it was great for long distance dates X3 We had dabbled in FF14 a bit to play with my sibling, but didn't fully change over until The Lawsuit at Blizzard happened. After that, we devoted a ton of time to FF14, getting thru the game until partway thru Stormblood – when my other sibling asked to join as well! SO we all got together to get everyone caught up, and by the time Endwalker released, we were almost done with the Shadowbringers patches.

By the time we finished Endwalker, my dad, who had played FFXI years ago, asked to give it a shot too! So with alts in tow, and my omnicrafting husband making gear for us as we level up, we have taken him thru ARR and are getting into Heavensward at long last!

This game has helped our family bond in so many ways, especially with the pandemic conditions still ongoing, and since we now all live apart from each other. It's definitely taking a lot of our time, but we're spending it together, and we wouldn't have it any other way!

  6. You should really put a spoilers warning at the start. If you are making this "for people that want to get into the game but don't know if they should" then you shouldn't spoil the ending of ARR and Heavensward without letting them know. Would just suck to ruin their experience of getting to see it for the first time.

  7. Just curious, if you played all the Final Fantasy in order, then you would have came across FFXI which is their first MMO. Did you play it or skipped it? If you did skipped it, I believe it's still running and playable if you ever decide to give it a try some time in the future.

  8. 1:57 holy shit thats alot. I think just a little less than half is FREE. The trial for this game is stupidly good, no money needed to spend to enjoy it. Like how you structured your video! great editing, followed your twitch and subbed YT

  9. So while I have a bit of an idea as to why you like the game, the overriding message that came across was:

WATCH MY TWITCH, ARE YOU WATCHING YET? YOU SHOULD BE, WE YELL AND SAY STUFF LIKE "LIT", WATCH IT!

  10. Best mmo ever.
3.3 is also what made me realize why the game is so beloved with the final steps of faith and Estinian seeing himself in Nidhogg.
But get to Shadowbringers and youll truly understand why the story is held so high.

  11. While Stormblood may he considered one of the weaker expansions where the story is concerned, it is the expansion where the dungeon and raid team start to come into their own, raid and dungeon encounters in Stormblood are absolutely a blast and greatly improve on what came before. The story of Shadowbringers and Endwalker is an absolute treat, you will be blown away.

  12. FFXIV is a journey like no other. There is literally no other RPG that’s even remotely comparable. There are games with good stories such as Mass Effect, Divinity series, etc… but FF is at a whole other level where you actually fall in love with all the characters.

As a fellow Eorzean, here’s your Like and Sub.

  13. Welcome to Eorzea! Enjoy the ride. If you feel good about the game now, just wait until Shadowbringers, and Endwalker. You will be absolutely ruined for every other MMO. Yes, they're THAT good. That being said, take your time, the journey is part of the beauty of this amazing game.

  14. Thanks for sharing cool to see new players discovering the FF series. It’s really something special. 35 years of magical worlds, amazing characters storytelling and music. There’s nothing in gaming like it.

  15. It did take me awhile to get into FF14. Once I chose a class I felt comfortable doing (Bard) and started playing Heavensward I got hooked. Now I have a lot of games on the shelve that is collecting dust.

  16. I started a year ago, have finished EW. This game is such an amazing experience, I fell in love with it after ARR and it has taken over as my most played game by no. of hours played. I'm unsubbed for now due to work schedule and life but I feel the urge to play every single day 🙂 and I can't help but be a walking ad for the game. Managed to get a few people to join Eorzea and will do so till I die

  17. Once you're thousands of hours into the game you'll look back at those boring parts of ARR with a lot of love trust me. I thought it was fairly boring as well but looking back I miss that wide eyed feeling of a new mmo and it being a fresh experience. Theres a lot of nostalgia in those 3 starter towns
