FFXIV GUIDE TO STAYING IN YOUR OWN LANE (CACTBOT)

Disclaimer: I do not support the use of addons or scripts or hacks in PvP.

tl;dw: mind your own business no one is hurting you.

If you don’t want to use a tool, don’t use it, but like it says in one of these screenshots; I can use the stairs but other people may want or need to use an escalator. Worry about your own experience and don’t begrudge others theirs.

  1. To say it is okay to use because disabled people use it is a bad faith argument. If it was not then people would say that about driving. I am sorry but there are some thing people cannot do due to psychical limitations. If it was not the case then you should have no problem with blind people driving and people in wheal chairs being able to compete in a maythorn in the Olympics. And you say it does not hurt anyone. Then why do I hear everyone hate bots in all the MMOS you listed? In WoW i hear people complain the fights are too hard so they have to use add ons. Then I hear the Ian say they have to make them hard to combat add ons. People like me who refuse to use add ons why should i be kicked from parties and groups for not using an add on? It hurts players in that way. People say we are the best community because we do not put up with all the stuff that made all the other MMOs go to trash. How many RMT chats do you see? How many bots do you see in FFXIV? Rarely do you see them. I know you will make the comment add ons aren't bots but then were do you draw the line? The voice doing call outs is a bot. And how is it fair to players who do not use add ons to get raged at by someone who does? The people who say they cannot do content without these are bad players. If people cannot beat an ultimate designed for the best players without add on I am sorry then that content is too hard for them and they need to get better. Should they lower the skill level for sports? Lance Armstrong was a hero and did all these great things until people found out he cheated. That his victories were not his and people paid money to for his stuff. Yes, do to add ons now I see people with these items and I cannot help think did they use add ons? If that person did beat them without add ons, their victory is still meat with disbelief. Why should the developers put so much time and work into content made for the best players then have it beaten with a person using add ons? I see you are trying to blur the line between ease of accesses and cheating to justify your deeds plain and simple. People cannot claim victim if they are punished for knowingly breaking the rules. Simply saying they were here forever so they should be okay is a bad stance as they did that in WoW and now it is a must just to gain access to content people already paid for. Or how about the cash shop? People work hard for mounts and what if they put them in the cash store, that takes away all the hard work people put into getting them and having an easy way just took all that hard work and threw it in the trash, right? But the cash shop isn't hurting anyone. If that is the case why do so many people hate it? Because it takes away from them, in the same way cheaters take away from everyone. Bottom line is if people get banned for using add ons that is on them, they broke the rules and they know it, there is no excuse for cheating. I hope they improve ease of access for color blind people so then that can't be used as a justification for a able body to use cheats. Using someone's else disability to justify cheating is just dishonest.

  2. You know, I used to be okay with DBM when I played wow. Sure it meant that people had it easier, but I never needed to use it.

If you know WoW at all you can see where I'm going with this.

  3. You're not a catgirl vtuber with big mommy milkers and nude mods wielding her flesh rod for nightclub fighting in bdsm gladiator outfit, therefore your argument is invalid.

  4. You don’t get it, if people play better in a pve game then we might clear. In fact, if I see someone do a mechanic successfully, I’ll wipe the group on purpose since they’re obviously cheating, and I don’t carry cheaters through smileton

  5. There is a heavy concern about super automation like it happens in wow, where the game becomes an arms race between addons and dev. But ff is nowhere near that, specially because it designs its fights for people who don't 3rd party tools. Cacbot is harmless with its triggers. Great guide, still can't figure out the "don't be salty" intermission, hope to see a guide on that too

  6. Literally all the people here saying that it's cheating need to go touch grass. Yes there are mods that do heavily impact the game, like that one where showing aoes before they happen, are borderline cheating. But when people started Reporting streamers for having simple triggers and buff cooldowns on their hud, are really just reaching imo. Triggers wont magically do the mechanic for me. People literally getting angry for mods that change appearance and hud layout too. Like wtf

  7. I don't really care about what people install on their own devices, especially when it doesn't affect me. And more accessibility is always good thing. But if it's against ToS, it's against Tos. Regardless of it's subjective benefit. And everyone using the, "It's good/makes things possible for people "x" impairment/disability" argument, is doing so in bad faith. If anything you're only using them as a shield. You know, I know, and everybody knows that's NOT the case for the majority.
That said, I'm not personally against these add-ons and would like some of them to just be features.

And I'd prefer if we just went back to the "If you don't show, I won't tell" mindset. But we're past that now, because people wouldn't shut-up about it. From streamers/content creators showcasing them to players crying about getting banned for using something that "should be in the game anyway". The ToS is long overdue for an update for sure, but until that happens, some people are gonna have to hold that "L" if/when they get caught. This game has always been designed in a way to keep all players on a mostly leveled playing field. And unlike most other MMOs, FFXIV is cross-play, so making implementing/allowing things that are not accessible across the board is a slippery slope. Especially in the name of "efficiency".

  8. Player: "Can we have X?"
    Developer: "No" or "Not yet"
Player: "Screw that, I'll get it myself!"

That's it, the entire issue. Everything that follows this conversation is justification. X should be in the game anyway, other games have X, certain people need X, X is not new, X only effects me, and so on. Anyone using these tools must acknowledge that they are breaking a rule and are vulnerable to punishment. If you don't accept this, if you find their stance unwise or unjust and therefore able to disregard with impunity, you are being childish. "How dare you punish me for breaking the rules I agreed to follow!"

Report, don't witch hunt. If you have not personally suffered as a result of someone using a third party tool mind your own business. To my knowledge reporting is meant to be a reactive tool not a proactive one. It is not your duty or (sadly I have to add this) privilege to hunt down these people.

I guess the crux of this video is deciding how big someone else's use of a third party tool needs to negatively impacts you to warrant reporting. For that there's no objective answer. It depends on each of our principles and levels of engagement. Do you feel that the use of these tools devalues the "legitimate" efforts of yourself or others? Perhaps. But is it enough for you to demand that they be punished for having so offended you.

  9. I just found this video and this is literally what I ever thought, most of the people are just shit casuals and or people that don't raid and struggle on EX farms or even alliances, I do alliances with friends and just fuck around trying to kill each other, same goes for EX and people think that high-end raiders can't die to more casual stuff, I die 100000% times more in EX, Alliances or normal content because I have my brain off and just trying to have fun with my friends, is a nice break from "high raiding" and people constantly wiping you which is probably those who claim that cactbot is cheating, I don't even use that many things, SimpleTweak has better interface, knowing the boss hp, stats, etc and Timelines just makes you plan everything better. Hence, I don't care about mounts/glamour most of the times because I hate wasting 1hr of my life to someone making several mistakes on an EX then it disbands and next party is the same, I usually never type to people in trials/alliance because hey, they're just there to get their glams or play with their friends even if they're scared of savage but CACTBOT or whatever tool you decide to use will 100% assist you and help you get consistent on a fight. If you decide to never learn it that's on you but my outcome of using cactbot/ without it doesn't change on certain mechanics.

Ex of why I use a trigger could be in UCOB, NAEL quotes only because I don't need the rest, you know how stupid is to have a reading-mechanic that's long? I can 100% do it without trigger callouts, why do I use it? Because I just can't be bothered reading the quote, I tab-out often from the game or watch videos on the side once I'm comfortable with the fight. After 200 ucob clears though, I still can be shit at exas even if the cactbot told me "coming from north" thats not going to change the way I dodge or try to perceive them.

Most of the casuals that don't even raid are commenting more than the people who actually play the game, it doesn't even affect them in the slightest on their map farm, eureka, bozja (which there are more bots keep that in mind) but nah, let's just suck Yoshi-P cock because I'm a casual and that's cheating!!!! Hail YoshiP hes right!!! .
