  1. I think the one thing I would give advice on is you need to stop wondering if stuff is a reference, just enjoy it as it is shown in-game, or you just overthink things

  2. My friend, who has actually played it, tell me the 4 Elemental Thrones and the Knight are a reference to FF 4. The 4 Fiends and Golbez, the Big Bads and Final Boss. Endwalker pulled a lot from FF 4, from what I understand, so I'd believe it.

  3. I called it I motherfucking called it we are going to the 13th it was obvious cause there would be no challenge on Etheirys post Endwalker (dare I say Post ShB) for the WoL as we have beaten a literal God of Despair that was eroding the universe. What could possibly be a challenge stronger than that on the source? The answer is none so you have to look to the shards and the 13 is by far the most dangerous as it is already long gone.

  4. Zenos is gone but his avatar he made a pact with still lives. Now it's a good thing to end off zenos time in the story in his death, he wasn't really fully fleshed out but still a part of it overall. Now as for the sister dragon I have a feeling we will find them however it's not going to be good. But I think it's needed for closure and I have a feeling it's going to be a new trail fight.

  5. Speculation:

Strong Ex-Death vibes from the Knight in Black (bearing in mind the Ex-Death we killed in Omega was just a simulation). Single glowing eye behind a helm with a thin eye slit, big shoulders and a long flowing cloak is very much his look. Wondering if maybe we're gonna find the original has been sitting in the 13th conspiring with the rulers of some of the other reflections.

During the second phase of the Zenos fight, Zenos seems to take on a more permanent form of Enshrouding, possibly bonding with the voidsent, which might mean that he's taken a part of Zenos back to the 13th with him. The man is notoriously difficult to kill. The thought occurs that there may be a power struggle brewing in the 13th, Zenos never was much for taking defeat lying down. You know, except for the one time 🙂

If you listen carefully when Varshan starts hearing voices from the voidgate, before they start chanting OPEN OPEN OPEN, you can hear someone pleading. Possibly his sister?

FROTH AND FOAM! I've never seen a Dragon so shook.

  6. Not sure on the black knight character, but the 4 elemental thrones give me strong "The 4 fiends" vibes, a reoccurring quartet of bosses in the earlier FF games.

  7. NO more freaking Zenos! There is zero value to me in facing the same endgame enemy two much less three times. Him coming back the 2nd time was bad enough and the endwalker story could have literally gone on without a hitch if he weren't a part of it at all. I didn't even like him as a villain the first time and stormblood was my least favorite xpac (though it did have some great dungeons).

  8. Its a Giant Throw back to original final fantasy, involving Chaos and the 4 Elemental Lords as a basis of the theme, whether they stick to it original completely or simply draw similarities and work their own magic is too soon to tell.

  9. One curious thought I had was maybe the Voidsent Zenos made a pact with is a warped Azdaja, we know how being in the 13th and even suffering wounds in there was enough to allow the corruption to start warping you in various ways (very much like sin-eaters), although Azdaja is of the first brood she is still only 1 dragon and can only fight for so long before suffering some kind of wound and even if no wounds were ever suffered the corrupting aether would eventually take hold (we have no idea how time flows in the 13th so she could have been there much longer than we believe), considering that her aetheric strength would likely be the same after being transformed it would stand to reason that it would take someone with insane amounts of power to make a pact with such a Voidsent, someone like Zenos. Also, note how the Voidsent talked about the 13th being bereft of saviors which would suggest it has some memory or instinct tied to before it was transformed kind of like Tesleen and the Previous Titania.

The main reason I had this thought was that I saw a lot of people put forward the theory that it is the 13ths Warrior of Light which could be true, but considering we know the warriors were being corrupted before the world became the void a big question would be to ask what happened to the other warriors of light? we know there was more than one so maybe they fought until there was only one left? or could it be that the Golbez looking knight and the 4 elemental fiends are actually the Warrior of Light and his 4 parties members (5 man party just like Ardbert)

  10. Golbez, at long last….I'd seen the Calcabrena, The Magus Sisters, Dr. Lugae, but no Golbez. Now, at long last, one of the best villains in FF history takes the stage once again

  11. If you want to get more info on the new world, it gets some pretty interesting exposition in the Blue Mage quests. Also the 6.1 MSQ cutscenes have some extra lines if you've done Warring Triad and if you've done all the Shadowbringers Role quests, which was a really cool touch I wasn't expecting

  12. Seeing Y'sthola's Gap Moe pop up out of nowhere will invariably etch this patch into my memory for years to come. She always ends up getting super memorable scenes. Also, I know you weren't around for it but I would compare the feeling of this patch to 2.1 as opposed to a .4 style patch. In patch 2.1, we had pushed back the immediate Garlean threat and so were free to pursue other endeavors like having the Scions move out of Thanalan and your first encounter with Elidibous. It dropped seeds for a lot of things to come but not in the same way as 2.4 and 2.5 which dealt with the Crystal Braves and our inevitable betrayal and escape to Ishgard.

  13. Calling it now, the Knight in Black is going to be our shard in the Void who is trying to save their world the only way they know how.
The Knight and the 4 elements are inspired by Golbez and the Four Lords that serve him which each had a specific element.
I think in an interview they said Zenos was done, so I don't think he will ever be back.

  14. Also, I just want to give a shout out to my boy Mr. Happy who totally called that the four fiends from Final Fantasy 4 would pop up this expansion and will likely be part of the trial story line. ALSO also, I always love to see additional flavor text given when you've unlocked things in the game and the fact that Y'sthola herself commented on my being a Reaper and brought up the dangers of wielding control over a voidsent made my day almost as much as the book falling on her head, the sass dialogue options, and of course that legendary Gap Moe scene which was itself a callback to Matoya's Relict with information that you gain from taking her as one of the Trusts.

  15. PvP is actually really good! The Intro to the new baddie and his history is intriguing and that alliance raid story seemed heavy on main lore (kinda like how CT did). Crazy what they revealed in that new story.
