  1. FFXIV was the same game before the asmongold sperg train,it was the same game during the asmpngold sperg train and it's the same game after the asmongold sperg train left.

FFXIV players are probably glad he quit playing so they can log in and play..lol.

  2. All those basic Andys getting mad Asmons not playing their game…
Sit the f down and let the man play what he wants. You seem to forget that its not your stream, but his. You don't just simply go to your local pea seller and demand he should start selling beans. You know what he'll respond? "Im doing this for X time and I'm very sucessful at it because I didn't bend to some randos. Now fk off lmao"

Sadly I see it over and over again in his comm. Give the man some rest

  3. In regards to competition breeds excellence, it is 100 percent true. I never played WoW, but I have been watching from the outside looking in. Seeing them move with Cross Faction raiding and alleviating those boundaries and more account wide stuff to help the gameplay in their own way. I hope that the MMO space can start doing that of just taking ideas and changing them so they work in the context of their game. FFXIV, WoW, GW2, and all the other mmos out there are different games, but they work synonymous together in making each other better. This will help improve the MMO space significantly.

  4. I started playing a few weeks before asmon did, but watching him and all his interactions made me appreciate and enjoy the game more then normally.

  5. the funny thing is that there is a part of the community that actually hate the fact that asmon was one of the major reasons the game was under the spotlight recently

  6. I made the switch like two months before Asmon, because I was tired of Shadowlands and the guys at Bellular were making FFXIV seem so much more appealing. I'm glad I did, I just plain prefer how XIV plays once a job is at least level 70 or so.

  7. I got into FFXIV around the time Asmon did, though the game itself quickly hooked me after that. It's basically one of the best RPG stories I've ever experienced, period. Maybe even the best, when taken as a whole through Endwalker. And I was someone who didn't give a single shit about JRPGs going in, and still largely doesn't aside from this game – even the other FF games.

People who write it off as a "weeb game" are honestly only depriving themselves.

  8. I think the main problem with FFXIV on twitch is the "passionate" fanbase about spoilers. I mean it's why most people didn't go and play it because nobody can show the MSQ without some "passionate fan" screaming about spoilers so nobody else gets to see the cool stuff that happens and get interested in it. Also, I mean there is the whole you don't have to play the game once you finish the MSQ. I mean I played FFXIV when it first came out and I just didn't believe anybody when they said it got better until people started playing it on twitch.

  9. The FFXIV community is very unique vs. other gamers in a couple regards; (as a WoW vet of 16+ years, and an FFXIV player also)
    1. They HATE spoilers!!! FFXIV players generally, in my experience will actively avoid anything that will spoil the MSQ until after they have completed it. Including watching even their favorite steamers or getting on YouTube or even Twitter!
    2. Once they have completed the MSQ, then they will actively watch others play it. I've found, that they get enjoyment from seeing others reactions to the story. Also, sometimes seeing others reactions to the MSQ is even more impactful because at times, the emotional impact is greater after you've let the story 'sink-in'.
    3. A significant difference in the communities is that in WoW there is a PTR, players not only play PTR for testing purposes, they get in just to see what is coming from a lore perspective. Sites like Wowhead post nearly everything on WoW and datamine the shit out of it, and WoW players actively watch spoilers and, at least used to gobble-up Lore speculation like ravenous wolves! FFXIV does not have a PTR, nearly every aspect of the story is told in-game, so speculation is significantly smaller than in WoW. I don't need to expand on the lore part, we all know what I'm talking about
    4. With that being said, WoW has always been significantly larger draw than FFXIV, even if FF is growing, it will never have nearly the viewership or creators that WoW has, because again, FFXIV players do not go to content for speculation, or PTR information, or anything that would spoil nearly any aspect of the game. Not to say that speculation does not exist, there are several great channels focused primarily on Lore and speculation, but if you compared WoW vs. FFXIV speculation, it is not even close to comparable.
    5. WoW generates more money. Plain and simple. WoW also has the honor of being the first MMO to break into the 'mainstream'. Not to say Runescape and others were not great, but they were not the sensation that WoW was. I remember when WoW came out, it was insane and freaking awesome! FFXIV honestly had the worst possible debut and was an uphill battle from then on.
    6. Square Enix and the Developers are very clear about and communicate to their players that they do not expect them to be actively subbed all the time. They encourage you to play other games when you feel you have completed the content you enjoy. I have found the biggest difference in general is most WoW players are WoW players and FFXIV players are just video gamers (not to say there are not allot of FFXIV players that only play FFXIV, however more FF players play other games and more WoW players only play WoW). I have found that when I played WoW, that was literally my only game since 2004 except when I was deployed to parts of the world with no internet!, and now, since playing FFXIV, I don't feel bad not logging in, I don't loose progression if I take a few weeks off. As an example, I have played FFXIV, Lost Ark, Crusader Kings III, Civ 6, Elden Ring, ESO since leaving WoW and am realizing how much more fun gaming I am having again. Just my observation and from speaking and learning from my Free Company, many FFXIV players are the same.
    — I could write a Phd. Thesis on the differences in the communities and how the communities dictate how, why and how much the game is consumed media wise. I know from a very personal standpoint, that I only gave FFXIV a chance because Zach gave it a shot, and I was frustrated with WoW (and honestly had been for years). Now that I am part of the community, I have learned allot about what I want out of gaming. I have logged into WoW a couple of times, and each time I do, I am starkly reminded of why I don't really play anymore, other than grinding, their is no other, say 'evergreen' content to do. There could be physiological research papers dedicated to the WoW playerbase and Blizzard business model on things like addiction, addictive gameplay (skinner box), etc…
Statistics do not always explain everything. I have found from personal experience that the community culture is the primary driving force behind a great deal of the differences at this point.
IDK, maybe I'm completely wrong… actually, I'm prob wrong on allot, I'm just an old fart gamer… shit, I miss my Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis LOL

  10. One of the main reason for "Fall of viewership" after MSQ is because compared to WOW it is much easier. So after clearing the last Savage, streamers become John Travolta ….. what to do now ….. nothing to fight.
Due to WoW's scaling difficulty being much higher and complicated than FFXIV, you take much much more time to clear a Tier compared to FFXIV = much more viewer time.

Here's an Idea, you streamers clear it with your followers and friends within 2 days at most. Why not play with random players ? Since your MSP is reactions, what is more priceless than showing people what happens when you try to clear a Savage with random people =))
Even your chat followers are happy you invited them to play, they get to be in the stream = less snipers.

  11. I think what he did for the game was great and hope he returns in the future.

Been enjoying the Elden Ring content, but really hope he takes a break from Lost Arc cause that is not fun to watch.

  12. if someone is stating that "people dont like this or that…" its reasonable to assume that a relatively sizeable amount of people support the motion and others do not.
If the person does not claim the moon is made out of cheese it is reasonable to think that in a crowd of people quite a portion of them will agree, because the opinion is not unique or fringe or completely unreasonable or just 100% factually wrong (like claiming that 1+1 isnt 2).
So disregarding such statements as purely anecdotal and singular is just a crude way of bashing a reasonable assumption into the ground, in order to not engage into challenging your own convictions.
