Nidhogg is still dead/part of Estinien. The dragon you see him with is Vrtra, which is Nidhogg, Hraevsvlegr, Tiamat, and Bahamuts youngest sibling.

Yes Estinien did get possessed by Black Bro (Nidhogg), but we freed him near the end of the Heavensward expansion. Ever since he still has some of Black Bro's power and even channels to crush his enemies.
Gosh I am in the Same boat as you. I left FFxiv cuz of the subscription and because I really didnt have time mainly. I have $$ but idk if I have the time. But I watch every trailer anf everything and always wanted to come back. Just not sure if I should
