Its quite the journey through this zone
I was thinking at this point: Man… and we're only just now getting our foot through the door in this expansion… surely it's not gonna get much darker…
…….. Prepare.
It was a grand and glorious dream we once shared….
YoshiP: I wonder if we can make people feel true despair
Ishikawa: Hold my nihilism
Seeing your desperation and heart wrenching as you were body swapped just brings it back – love seeing you both react
I love this part a lot, its so twisted and dark, with such a beautiful end to the storyline with the 1st Legion. I was tearing up on certain parts, especially when Jullus broke down…. and then Fandaniel appeared hahaha. That solo instance was a bit confusing at first, but eventually got the hang of it fast, to save the day.
Looking forward to the next reaction vid <3
sophies reaction is the best
Ishikawa attacks, and scores a critical hit!
I know people who write horror in their spare time and their reaction to the entire solo sequence was "this is horrifying, how could I make it worse?"
It only gets better! 😀
Not gonna lie this depresses me. Just shows how bad wow is these days 😢
This is Thancred
I rly loved that duty ^^
It showed us how a normal garlean soldier feels in this world of magic (remember they cant use it). How powerless they feel before primals mages and us the WoL.
Great story telling ^^
What I loved is that while it showed that Galremald overall were a bad, fascist society, it's people were still people. Jullus worked because you realized he was a decent person- he was just raised in a society that made him what he is and when he finally came to terms with the fact that what he had been taught was wrongly and finally was able to let his guard down, he broke. It also broke me. It was the first time I teared up in EW. The first of many times.
"The Tower Of Babil" is a dungeon in FFIV so since this game has a lot of FF4 references it's one of them like "The Tower Of Zot" too but i feel like besides the name it had an original twist to it
The part with Jullus is what broke me first in this expansion. What's interesting is talking to all the Garlemald NPC and see their perspective of Eorzea. Very dark and twisted, but it really shows a side of Garlemald that we've never seen before. Damn you Yoshi P and Ishikawa.
This whole 'return to camp and share some supper' cutscene was so incredibly wholesome…especially with that marvelous soundtrack
So… how does it feel to have had Zenos inside of you? 😛
Had the same reaction as Sophie. When I saw the chair I was like "No. No. Nope. Don't you dare."
The next 30 minutes were pure adrenaline and terror. In hindsight, it's amazing how this game makes you feel for your WoL. What a great scene.
Also, watching another streamer who's still in Stormblood recently, it really drove the point home of how all those people in Ala Mhigo and Doma felt. After all, they were just normal people, most have never even fought in their life. Consider how weak that soldier was and then those people were even weaker. It's no surprise they were scared and afraid of fighting back.
Love how this scene gives you a lot of insight of how overpowered you and the Scions (among some other characters) are compared to everyone else.
Endwalker: what if MOAR TESLEENS???
The whole "settle down for supper" sequence was easily the most tense I've ever felt in eight years of playing this game. Incredibly well done.
I remember thinking the start of the expansion's story was a bit slow, but man once I got to the second half of Garlemald they really quickly dispelled that notion.
Some commentary I've read is that the Garlean section is meant to be an allegory to Imperialist Japan leading up to the end of WW2, with the propaganda, mistrust of outsiders, suicide rather than receiving aid from the enemy, fighting on after the war has ended. Basically what we saw was just a taste and pales in comparison to what actually happened in real history.
I adore watching your playthrough and both of your reactions to some of these heavy scenes, very excited to follow along through the rest of the story
This duty is PURE GENIUS! While I was doing I hated it ofc, the timer, the stress, the fact that you are so weak and so far away from camp, the fear of what Zenos is going to do, it all adds to the moment. It makes you realize so much, with just this little duty. You realize how powerful the wol (and terrifying to Garleans), how weak they regular Garlean soldier is, and why they rely so heavily on their magitek.
Looking back on that duty you can truly see how utterly brilliant and masterful it is!!
Just that duty alone is 100/10
Now you understand the Garlean point of view. They were driven from their ancestral lands in Eorzea, had to flee north to the bitter cold, lands without means to sustain themselves, and they only grew strong through technology, where they can push back and reclaim lands that was theirs, fertile grounds to feed their peoples. When duty with the unknown soldier, you truly feel helpless without magic & magitek. To the average Garlean, the WoL is truly a monster that slaughters all in their path..
3 2 1 click.
I bursted laughing here. I always wonder how you lovely couple play the game together……
Love your vids 😍
FWI that small child is like 200 years old
I love watching Endwalker reactions, there is just so much crazy stuff happening ^^
Second boss of the level 70 Stormblood MSQ dungeon Ala Mhigo is Aulus mal Asina. Piloting a Magitek, Aulus stuns you with Magitek Disrupter, then extracts your soul from your body with Mindjack. This is what Fandaniel is referring to and uses to extract your soul from your own body and put it in a (dead?) Garlean soldier's body. You're two powerful in your own body for Zenos to take over it. Another example of this game using something earlier in the game or from other Final Fantasy games…
After I played through the suicide cut scene I thought about how you two would react to this scene/section of the zone. Watching your play throughs and reactions are great. Can't wait to see the rest of your journey. Until next time WoL <3
So Ishikawa got a standing applause for ShB. What can top that for EW?
I've been waiting for you guys to get this far and am not disappointed 🙂
"This game does a great job of making you feel like a hero."
More importantly, it doesn't do so by making everyone around you incompetent. They make it a point to show you that people can generally handle things, but you're there to deal with the extraordinary.
I did watch someone do this part in a reindeer suit not realizing what they were about to get into and it was HILARIOUS! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The tension in Garlemald is just so masterful. You want to know how close you've became to your character? Have Zenos steal. Brilliant.
Oh and the mug of hot wholesome scene – that one is so pro, like the two of you said, ol' boy finally lets himself mourne the loss, its blue but beautiful like the flower 💙
can you guys fantasia to Viera please 🙂 There is bun boi for Elixxar now!
This instance gave me a legit panic attack lol sooo much anxiety. Exceptionally well done, ishikawa. Very well played
If only Zenos just nod, graha and alise wouldnt notice.
It's been so enjoyable I can't wait for more!!!
Only a man as twisted as Fandaniel would serve red wine with fish.
They did an amazing job humanizing the Garleans themselves. And they show masterfully how propaganda works in these régimes and how normal people without any other frames of reference can easily fall for it. Ironic how the radios saved some people from being tempered, but it's almost certainly a fact that before that those same radios were belting out fascist propaganda, doing another sort of "tempering". This entire zone was 10/10, and it somehow got better from there.
Thank god the guys in the Magitek armor have stormtrooper accuracy lol
I still think back to that image of Yoshi's face, where he knew he was going to destroy our emotional well being.
Playing as a garlean ALMOST made me feel bad for the thousands I’ve slaughtered as the WoL. lol
42:06 I still give Graha massive credit for figuring out what was happening just from one odd facial expression. That's our boy.
That body swap mission, one of the very few times I've ever had actual anxiety during a game. Glad to see you both pulled through!
anima isnt impersonating Varis, anima IS Varis… his reanimated mutated corpse at least.
