FFXIV Endwalker: How to Sage in Dungeons

In this video we will be going over how to utilize Sage in dungeons! With Sage being a new healer introduced in Endwalker I thought it would be a good idea to make a new dungeon guide for players who are just getting into the role or players who may be struggling trying to grasp the concepts of the job. Sage (SGE) is a very strong healer when pushed to its fullest in dungeons so players can find comfort in knowing that proper play will leave you playing satisfied! If something looks intimidating in the guide, don’t worry about it and take things at your own pace!

  1. In the words of my great tank friend, "Hey 1Hp is still better than no HP!" Ive used this to heal in this game regardless of what i do. If someone gets mad at you for getting them to low they need to lower their threshhold too.

  2. Toxi is great for movement but don't let it trap you thinking you need them all the time, its a movement tool, it has the same potency as dosis in single target fights, – seen sages spam shields trying to get them – Great guide Momo, I'm already having a blast with this job, I never knew how much I needed a gap closer till I got one haha!

  3. This is a good guide but i'd add a few more tips based on my leveling experience:

1 – Know your tank cooldown. I find it completely useless to use any Cooldowns on a WAR under bloodwhetting, for 6 seconds it's virtually unkillable as long as it uses AoE. On the other hand, DRK "only" has TBN and no strong self healing ability.

2 – If I'm not mistaken, Toxicon is a DPS loss on 2 targets, at the end of a pull I find it usefull to shield just to get extra stacks in prevision for the next pull. Dyskrasia is better on 2 target since Toxicon loses 50% of its power after the first target.

3 – When managing cooldowns, prioritize 60s cooldown. With PUGs, time between pulling wall to wall packs can last 60s, meaning your cooldowns will be back between those two packs, while the 120s will be available only once.

More of the time, I never had to do more than Eukrasian Diagnosis and maybe Kerachole, only using Haima if the tank was taking too much damage or I was planning to spam Toxicon. It's also a good place to use Soteria.

  4. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but when healing a dungeon pull, use krasis and physis together–wait for them to run out, and then Sage's bubble-wait for it to run out, and then continue on doing the same thing with the other cooldowns?

  5. Wow, as a new player this is incredibly helpful, thank you so much!
A cool idea would be if you kind of narrated an entire run and explained the skill usage/positioning etc. by using examples!

  6. After gaining job stone, i spent 20 mins reading tooltips, re-organising buttons to more familiar healer button orientations and felt ready, wiped twice on the first job story boss… -_-

  7. This video is brilliant and so informative, I didn't even consider how important both Krasis and Physis together can be for helping with pull mitigation. I also only realised recently that Zoe only buffs with Diagnosis and Prognosis so I've found it incredibly helpful for tank pulls to give that extra push on Eukrasian Diagnosis when prepping for big pulls. Thanks so much for explaining this all out and splitting it into parts to explain how to rotate as well as when certain abilities are useful, it's incredibly helpful to see your way of approaching different skills and finding where to use certain abilities.

  8. Not sure if it was mentioned, but: stay really close to your tank while they're pulling. If you apply Eukrasian Dosis on an enemy while the tank is pulling it, you'll grab aggro from the other enemies of the pack due to the heal from Kardia. Staying as close as you can to your tank makes it easier for them to grab aggro back with an AoE or two.

  9. due to the way toxicon has a 50% cleave at the same potency as your gcd, is using a gcd to apply shields every so often worth it on packs with 4+ mobs, especially after dotting them while pulling?

  10. Hey Momo, always love watching your videos.

Only thing Id throw in is that Toxicon effectively gets stronger the fewer enemies there are in a trash pull (even if it is only 5 potency per enemy less). My main use case for it has been to hit enemies that I might sometimes be forced away from because of point blank AoEs, which might cause Dyskrasia to miss half the pack while people scramble out of it. My other use case is targeting the highest HP trash mob to try and have it die closer to when the rest of the pull dies, since the bigger health targets can outlast the group AoE spam. Otherwise I just wait until there are 2~3 targets left to dump the rest of my Addersting.

  11. maybe im being negative but ive been discouraging people from taking sage as their first healing job. just see way too many people not understanding the basics of healing and trying to play reactively.

  12. hey momo, thank you for your guides! i always learn and improve so much with your help, i appreciate it.
in your sch shb dungeon video, i learned that i shouldn’t use all the resources at once, so i can always have something going on throughout the pull

i'd like to ask if i should worry about that in sage while deploying krasis, kerachole and physis II at the same time.

    thank you very much

  13. In aoe pulls, Eukreasa doesn't get removed when spamming your aoe. So something I like doing is using Eukreasa, then holding onto it so I have access to an instant cast shield at a moments notice rather than having to wait that 1 second from casting Eukreasa

  14. Been playing Sage nonstop since early release, something I noticed with Addersting is that if you crit Eukrasian Diagnosis and get the bonus shield, the 'normal' shield breaks before the Differential Diagnosis crit shield and you get your Addersting then, even if the crit shield still remains.

  15. I have been pre casting Eukrasian Diagnosis but feel like I was using it too much during the fights. Moving it to the "if needed" category may improve the flow. I'm likely over shielding/healing in many situations when I could be using Kardia instead.

  16. Oh btw if you get a Crit Eukrasian Diagnosis the big shield will be split between the normal Eukrasian Diagnosis (ED) shield and the additional Differential Diagnosis (DD) shield. What I've noticed is that the ED shield is prioritized in breaking. I've had many instances where the ED shield is broken but the tank still has the DD shield. So you don't actually need to worry about Crit Shields not breaking.

  17. One minor thing I didn’t notice in the video is that Kardia procs do generate enmity. So if tank grabs Mob A and then continues running to Mobs B and C, when you dot Mob A that will generate enmity on Mobs B and C as well if the tank is in their aggro range

  18. I was abel to get a shield like 80% on a pala tank, with krasis, physis, zoe + i had applied haima too so i would say it was almost 100% shield :3, happend like 3 times in dungeons so far. Tanks hp didnt even drop below 100% in a pull of like 10 15 mobs for like 15 secs. I freely spammed 2xphlegma, 3x toxicon, few aoes.

Even if the shield didnt crit, i was getting like 10 to 15 sec free time after i apply all the buffs/sheilds, and i could freely spam 3x toxicon which i gathered whiel running with tank plus few aoe spells

When tank pulls big I go like kerachole + physis+ krasis+ zoe + haima + euk diagonsis + soteria. When this is cd i go kerachole+ physis + holos + panhima + euk diagnosis, i get like 10 secs easily to cast freely in both comboz, tanks hp doenst even drop below like 90%, and when i finish 2nd rotation its either boss or first rotation spells are ready so repeat again next pull
