  1. Actually, i wanna Answer @11:30 comment:
The Reason they probably wont do that again is due to the fact it will Contradict YoshiP's Statement of, "Come back later".
imagine being forced to sub for over 3 years just to get a certain cosmetic. thats like over $300
for said item. i mean if something happens in my life that makes it were i cant play for 3- 5 months, thats 3-5 months i just lost towards that 3 year sub reward.

  2. what i dont actual understand and maybe i am just dumb. "instant gratification", so ppl get the money on that credit card gifted to them and dont have to work for it? pls tell me where i get that credit card.
to be precise, i am not a whale, not even close (not even a dolphin, i got exactly 1 mount and not more). but ppl worked for that money, why should they on top work for the rewards they buy with it?

there is no instant gratification, if you see the game in a bubble, maybe. but thats not how the world works. and work is the true word here. they worked for that money. you actual said, "you are an adult and its your money", the discussion should have stopped there, full stop.

if its about if a sub game should have a shop, thats another discussion entirely and there was a comment of "better increase the sub fee then the shop" and i would be okay with that. but the sub fee didnt increase since the start of daoc and that was 20 years ago. but the cost for the servers, the workers, the devs, the parts and so on and so on, increased. so either you have to increase the sub fee or get a shop. and my bet would be not 1 dollar higher, it would be about 4 to 6 dollars higher, seeing that the inflation rate alone was something about 20% in the last 20 years (i think i looked some month ago for this exact discussion and it was around 15 to 21 or something). and on top of the inflation taxes and everything said before.

but this also has a problem, because it would have to be a mmo developer decission, because if only 1 or maybe 2 increase it, even if it is someone big like ff14 or wow, the smaller companies or even if ff14 did it, wow would try to catch users by saying "we will stay with the 13 dollar (is it 13? sry i am on €)" and ppl would flock to that game. its not worth the risk to increase the sub fee, so shop it is.

  3. I wouldn't mind cash shops, as long as it's not pay to win and then actually show the community where that money is going. Like which part of the game is that supporting.

  4. my only issue is the retainer system, with every job leveled crafter's included i work with around maybe 10 bag slots having every other storage space completely filled, ill probably have to pay for another retainer once end walker drops.

  5. I don’t mind the cash shop. I’m a collector of mounts & glamour addict. Cash shop has not diminished my interests in the game. Non-cash shop mounts are meh compared to the mounts that I’ve grinded & farmed for.

  6. I never really make youtube comments, but in regards to the idea presented at ~20:00, where you're effectively buying a quest to give the satisfaction of getting a cash shop item, I believe it's fundamentally flawed within the context of FF14 specifically and would be a lot more harmful than what is currently in place. Currently, you're given the item straight up; there's no context, and you know what you get (or are missing!) when you see it out in the wild.

But FF14 is a game that is heavily focused around it's writing and story, so by tying a quest to cash shop items, you'd effectively be locking actual, tangible content behind the shop, and I think that'd cause much more of an uproar than the current "swipe card, get item" method. Using your guest's example, imagine if the snap had a meaningful bit of story context around it involving one of the most popular antagonists in the game, and THAT was locked behind a paywall rather than the emote? The only other alternative is having the "quest" have no actual text tied to it at all, and in that case I feel like most people would find it to just be annoying busywork unless you're having people do actually difficult content.

  7. The lot who are complaining just want free stuff.

How am I right? Because they bemoan any thing with a dollar sign even if it is not pay to win, to the point that just giving extra support through a simple purchase, is some thing to complain over.

  8. If you want me to be very blunt and unforgiving on this subject? We were already sold 5 emotes that are worth $150 USD+ each. There is no room to complain about a $40 mount, regardless if it's a boss or connected to MSQ if no one bats an eye at an emote that can reach $200 USD. If the community isn't going to complain about the emotes then there is no standing to the mount complaints. Imagine this as an outsider viewing the situation, we have emotes worth hundreds of dollars but complain about a mount forth 40 bucks?

  9. I don’t like the whale AT ALL, but I bought it to support the game. I’ve bought many things off the cash shop. The cash shop is cool and I love supporting the game. Also I’m gonna be so hype to be riding cruise chaser after we beat The Ultimate Alexander soon.

  10. I think the main problem with people saying "just increase the sub I would pay it" is the amount of people that could not afford for it to go up or unwilling to pay the increased price. if you just increase the sub every time game needs more money it would eventually lose more than it gains. where as long as cash shop stays away from pay to win, it's fine for the people who want to support more and/or have extra cash one month but normally don't.

  11. Just poking some holes about the questline idea

Cash shop mounts having a questline for them so you can have a sense of achievement over instant gratification. Zoom out; sounds like you are buying for mini dlc packs and if they'd put enough effort to include a questline for a cash shop mount, then why isn't it part of the main game in the first place?

Not to mention if the questline is based on a boss from Heavensward, what if a new player buys this mount and gets a questline for it but won't understand cause they're not at that point of the game to meet that said boss?

  12. I’m completely in the as long as it’s not pay to win area, but I will say one perk to cash shops is the players that just don’t have much time to play and barely get to do a dungeon a day or play a few quests, they can buy at least one cool flashy mount to enjoy the game on while they play. It’s really the only perk I see all in all
