  1. I don't see any reason to be concerned about violating TOS in this game. As long as you don't act like an asshole, or purposefully try to skirt the rules, you don't have anything reasonable to worry about.
The game has GMs. They will apply a little something called common sense and read the chat logs in the report, then decide on a course of action after deliberating it. They're paid to do that. Just chill on the rhetoric and worry about things as they happen.

  2. Properly giving advice comes down to offering advice rather than pushing advice. Nobody likes unsolicited advice, in game or in real life. "May I suggest a way this could go better?" is offering. "This would go better if you would…" is pushing.

  3. Yeeeeah, i saw no need to worry about the ToS changes. The party finder thing was new to me tho, so good to know. The bonus to being mostly antisocial, less issues (most times XD)
So excited for Endwalker, I didnt fully catch up (cause i want that sweet story exp for sage and reaper) and looking forward to cross data, might even catch you guys someday haha

  4. I get what people are saying with not worrying about TOS, but also the game is known for banning some people that definitely didn't deserve it. Someone got banned for hugging their friend a few times and didn't realize it spammed the chat log. Then someone saw it and reported it. Another guy got a penalty for "stalking" someone, but the guy who reported him only thought he did and they just happened to go to the same areas for questing.
Like these sort of bans is what makes me worried that GM's can't be completely trusted to make the calls on bans.

  5. Hmm I didn't see them clearing up the biggest one for pf. There's a new change for pf coming that "prohibits people from leaving a party because things aren't going well" that tos change alone will completely ruin pf because we will now be forced to stay full lockouts if we don't want to be banned or get a strike on our account. Does anyone think square will clarify that one specificly? I love this game more then anything but I will have to stop playing if that rule will be completely enforced because it's just far too harsh to be forced to stay full lockouts with traps ):

  6. "Should always take other into consideration". It's a nice thought, but in a world where many people don't give a damn if they give their neighbor covid or follow basic guidelines to protect others from a deadly disease, this kind of stuff just enrages them. So many people are selfish narcissists who don't care about others.

  7. The biggest issue I'd see with the changes (even though it's really mostly just clarity) to the rules, is that people will ACTIVELY avoid conversation and confrontation in the chance of being banned, or fear of being banned. Sure you should just have faith in the GM's, but a lot of people don't and never will lol. Especially when people don't know the rules all that well and people overly abusing banning people. Even if you know you did nothing wrong, people will often believe it's better to avoid dealing with a GM and don't like walking on eggshells all the time over silly matters sometimes. Where someone could get easily tilted over nothing and want to report, so a lot of people won't really talk to anyone outside of their social circle.

Heck, people getting banned for the mere mention of someone's damage being low or ranting that their damage is bad not even typing in-game can get people banned, is reason enough for people to be skeptical and on edge.

I don't think it's always just as easy as "Just don't be a jerk!" because people just talk in passive-aggressive tones more so now, really. Which I think is just as bad. With judgemental attitudes and demanding people behave how they want them to be or else they are a bad person. Then also the whole RP thing where people got banned, some just aren't sure when GMs could just be a bit trigger happy or side with the person flagging and you can't always rely on the community exposure to support you. Your events could get buried and not recognized or just looked at as venting.

  8. You only need to worry about violating the TOW if you are routinely skirting the rules or are being a douche to people all the time. I certainly don't need to worry about the TOS changes myself.

  10. You missed the main complaints about things and skipped straight to the strawman arguments. The concern is that a lot of these rules, especially now since there are examples, are heavily abusable by bullies and trolls to get people banned. Nothing they've said really reduces my concerns on that point. The only counter to protect yourself is really to stop interacting with people you don't know. An unfortunate state of affairs for an MMO.

  11. Someone told me to use darkest night more and i reponded back that i would ban them for telling me how to play WITH "/S" TO IMPLY SARCASM but they seem to not speak english as their main language thus they spent the whole round apologising saying that they dint want to be banned i felt really bad about it. I think the rules are a bit to broad. My problem is them walking out of the game and targeting streamers.

  12. The problem is people giving advice when it’s not asked. If someone is playing how they want to play thats there freedom to do so. If a tank is pull too slow or whatever so be it. If you have a complaints then YOU play tank or find friends that play like you.

  13. The only ones worried about the TOS about respect are the disrespectful. I've seen a couple streamers who has this grating and negative persona complain about the new TOS (we already know one who was suspended for breaking TOS in their stream before. LOL). A personal experience of mine, I remember doing a parse party back when i didnt know what it was and i was a new raider. It was obvious i was underperforming and yes i was kicked, however in the most respectful way. Without asking, i was given an explanation what parses was, what their goal was, and they even gave me links to better myself in my job/class in case i ever decided to do a parse in the future. I was appreciative for it, wished them luck and left the group. They could have been negative and toxic, and that would be easy, but they put in the effort to not just be respectful, but give me advice.

  14. Honestly I think we should be allowed to be toxic, if you just police behavior, ppl still get mad and might do other things to be toxic and breeds a different level toxicity that isn’t really up front. Like abandoning duties, creating free trial accounts for revenge, so many more.

  15. NA servers have a real problem.

It's virtually non-existent on the JP servers.

I don't understand why people are feeling anxious about the TOS update. Since it's a non-issue on JP servers, it's weird to witness the reactions coming from the West. Almost like an overreaction.

  16. The only people worried about the TOS are the ones who know they have been skating on thin ice, taking advantage of the vague wording in it. Now that they have much more defined wording and examples they don't have any way to feign ignorance for their bad behavior.

  17. So here's the funny thing. Ffxiv players have far more freedom on what they can say then any major internet media out right now. More freedom then twitch, youtube, Facebook or Twitter combined.

  18. I mean regarding the adviss, and please let me know if I'm oversimplifying, isnt it as basic as it's not what you say but how you say it. This is just basic of being an adult and having a normal dialogue. Granted things are better when they are heard as opposed to how they're read because they can be taken out of context. Maybe that's just how I view it but what the devs are stating doesnt seem unreasonable. Of im.missing a point please let me know. Great video guys
