A Very Important Message from Soken & Yoshi-P (FFXIV Fan Fest 2021)

**Edit: I’m so glad this video is making rounds so that everyone can see just how amazing both Soken and the Dev team are! If you’d like something a bit more lighthearted and to see Soken in all his glory, I managed to post some other videos from the weekend as well:

Soken’s La HEE: https://youtu.be/1Ua-891Ih7w

Soken dancing: https://youtu.be/9JyspYYE8No

Dancing Devs! (A long fall): https://youtu.be/VcNFZ5yivCQ

Also, I apologize for the odd glitch at the start of the video. Not sure what happened with the stream there.

—————

I honestly wasn’t sure if I should record and post this, but I figured it’d be good to do so for now for anyone who missed the Livestream.

Warning: This video is very emotional and has mentions of cancer as well.

  1. I'm not personally a fan of FFXIV but I find it really cool that the devs are so personal and loving towards their fanbase.
Even through a time so hard for him. These are good people and I wish them constant success.

  2. I'm currently studying Game Design. I'm planning on getting into the gaming industry myself to make great games.
This just showed me that I need to take this much more seriously than I'm doing at the moment. And trust me, I'm very serious about it already. But this isn't just a passion or a calling. It's a lifelong commitment.
Soken-san just reminded me what level of sacrifice and commitment is required in order to reach this kind of greatness. I've never played Final Fantasy XIV but even if I did, it's not the game's success story that shows me true success, it's the commitment of the developers to bring out something for the fans instead of something for their own wallets. Because they truly care.
So this is to all the people who truly care. You're the greatest.

  4. New player here about to try the game for the first time, jfc they got me teared up and I don't even know anything about this team, but they got me wanting to play this game tenfold now. Really hoping I like this game because it isn't often you get a team with this kind of devotion, honesty, passion, and love for their game and its players everyday.

  6. I started playing FF14 last night and as a former (tired and angry) WoW player I’ve just been looking around getting to know these devs and omg.. I’m not crying.. you’re crying.
