  1. I would rly recommend all currently not finding content, to try out new stuff(EX,savages and so on) we are never old enough to increase our horizon, and it’s rly worth sometimes to try out different stuff, how would u know that u don’t enjoy it if u never tried it.

  2. I'm a crafter main who enjoys the side quests much more than the MSQ. 7.1 had almost nothing for me and while I don't mind Wuk Lamat, I think that has a lot to do with my slow pace and being forewarned about her and Zero from other players.

Honestly, I've just been putting off a lot of 7.0 content because it's pretty but boring. There's nothing in 7.0 that I can't already do in any other zone.

  3. I don't know why anyone bothers playing this game. All i ever see in vids like this on youtube is negative feeback and people not being happy with what's being given. Why play a game that's bad, is dyeing, and you don't enjoy? I'm confused on this.

  4. A bit of a long rant but FF14 has become too complacent with itself due to lack of real competence. Just by steam numbers alone you can see that and that's without counting console players. Having said that, they are a business so if they are doing good with keeping it mimilaistic, then they have no reason to even try at this point. Look how ARR was back then: It was an incomplete game, full of flaws, class felt clunky in comparison to other games like WoW(which ff14 is based on); however, patches brought side quest, relics(a lot of steps with different weapons by the way, worn, regular, zenith, atma, novus, nexus, zodiac and zodiac with glow), they also brought the regular extreme trials, 24 man raids, 8 man raids with savage difficulty and a higher savage + difficulty which unlocked titles. We also had other side activities. Heavensward took what ARR did and made it better, we got so much content including palace of the dead, the Diadem(it sucked, but it was content and for those who don't know, you had the chance to get a good custom armor with 5 stats) and much more.

All the expansions up to shadowbringer were like that, they were rich in content and they had us with long lasting and creative content like Eureka or Bozja. Then Covid hit and I know it was hard to work from home instead of the office and I am sure EVERYONE understood the difficulties Square Enix and the FF14 team had at the time. Nevertheless, their excuse was that thanks to Covid, content will be delivered in a slower way and they begged us understanding and patience, which we had. Fast forward months later after the pandemy, they keep saying the same excuse when someone called them out about the lack of content, but now the excuse was "well we are allocating resources but we are gonna deliver the content just a couple of weeks later than usual". Once again, everyone understood despite rolling their eyes in disappointment. Now we have Dawntrail, they promised a LOT of content but the content we are getting in a patch is incomplete(a bs that started since E.W more or less) now you get some regular stuff like "more colors, NPC now have fixed hairline! an extreme fight, delivery quest!" that's it. Then a couple of weeks later you get the rest of the patch content. Now look at the point where we at, no relic weapons, no bozja-like content as they promise, and not much anything to do. Even fun stuff like Hildybrand takes a lifetime to do and it's only about 4 quest and you are done with it for like 6 months.

I really hope they just go back to the days of shadowbringer or before.

  5. 7.1 msq just feels pike a rehash of 5.1. Just a pot of nothing with a twist that is carbon copied over. Granted I'm hoping it resolves different, but there was nothing to give me any faith in the patch story.

  6. They changed the patch cycle from 3 months to 4 months during Covid because they made it possible for the teams to work from home if need be. Idk why they're sticking to it though.

  7. I firmly believe they did not think through how gearing would change going to quarter patching. At this point being a raider with full BiS there's no point for me to keep playing other then grinding out gear, joining an ultimate group or leveling up the rest of my classes to 100. Although I think either i've reached the fatigue of the game. Dawntrail MSQ knocked the wind out of my sales really bad.

  8. I thought the MSQ and especially the dungeon were good. No issues with the new Society grind. Haven't tried SPHHHHEEEENE 5000 yet, but I'm looking forward to it. I'm disappointed with the FFXI raid. Oh, i need to do three rest of the post raid story, but I cannot stand Sycophant Ja as the villain. And making worlds within worlds like the 12 did. Like… The FFXI connection is that Sycy Ja is a *fan*? Really??
    Also, the raid fights craaaawl.

  9. Ill be honest, It took me years to realize i dont play this game for the story. I actually find majority of the story tideous to go through. The actual interesting story through all the expansions can be condensed into 2 hours of quests in total. I started to replay the game on my EU account and I just half the time say "my god i remember this msq quest, i hated it" "no not this stupid dumb choir quiest…" i spend on EU much more time of doing the grinding stuff like relic tools and weapons and, getting all content i never done on US before like Eureka and Bozja. Sometimes i feel side quests have more interesting game and story then msq…
Now, coming back to my main US account, I dont even touch msq when it comes out. I go straight to extreme and unreal trials cause i know thats where hardcore players are at the first day and its easier to clear if you go with those people. I maybe am going to do MSQ when i will need to have it done to reach some content, but even the alli raid unlucks without it so whats the point to do right now. Nothing.
I enjoy this game, but I enjoy more when I can play it as an mmo and not as an rpg. And it took me a while to realize that, its okay to feel that way. Doing mentor roulettes or teaching newbies the savage raids or extreme trials make me more fulfilled than going through 300 hours msq alone.

  10. "Why no Relic?"

Because people complained when it was the Zodiac RNG-fest, complained when it was Anima's tedium, complained when it was Eureka's NM Trains, complained when it was Bozja's exclusive instances, and complained when it was Manderville's Tome Farm.

The devs are being given a constant stream of conflicting and contradictory feedback on pretty much every aspect of the game. "Relic Zones Bad, we want Anima 2.0" then literally the next expansion "We want a Relic Zone, we hate Anima Farm", and half the time, it's the same damn people.

I'm generally happy with the direction the game's taking, however I'd like to see one or two long-standing issues addressed, each of which would be a fairly simple coding change on the backend.

The first being the removal of the once-daily Treasure Map restriction. The sheer tedium of farming them as unique items is IMO enough of a restriction. Making them only once a day basically makes older maps not worth gathering, which means a lot of decent content gets abandoned.

The second being an adjustment to the Poetics cap. It's been 2,000 for a LONG time, and yet we arguably need more of them now because of the Manderville relics. Raising it to a 4k limit would be a small but appreciated change.

  11. I agree with you even though I am a raider, and im eating good right now. I think putting a mix of raid content and midcore content into early patches is the best option. Maybe in patch 7.1, start the relic weapon quest, 7.2 put deep dungeon, 7.3 exploration zone content, ext. Dont release it all at once, but give people a time sink if they want to sink the time.

  12. I think they need to adjust the indicator for the shadowlord’s sword attack just put it flat on the ground instead of 3d swords in the air it makes it hard to see where the safe zones are.

  13. Story was really really lackluster… ending got me interested but the characters feel hollow and I feel that was its strongest point. Regardless the cinematography and the fights are really good there’s just no room to breather but fundamentally I agree with you

  14. I don't know, I feel like this current expansion is relying too heavily on memba berries. I never played any ff game besides ff10, so anyone who has not played other ff games is going to not care as much as people who have. Besides that, this game is outdated in graphics still, you can make the human characters look pretty all they want, but when the vast majority of enemies look off, it does not look very nice and can be jarring for some enemies.

Outside of that there are plenty of other issues, such as housing which is not great at all as they tied massive gil makers to housing, crystal farming etc and it is limited. People can buy out large amounts of houses with a single character that then limits it further, people can make free companies, leave them dead and basically get houses in free company areas. Its a garbage system. Then there is the retainer issue, where you pay actual money for inventory space, to send out more on ventures etc.

Rewards are also another issue, the main rewards for anything seem to be materia, there is rarely any really good looking pets, mounts, housing items which only matters if you have a house, unique items like the wings/umbrellas, emotes, etc. Right now it feels like there is no point in doing much as the rewards are just not that great.

The launcher, the launcher is garbage, it crashes and has bugs, the third party one is actually better and more stable which is sad. Then there is quality of life issues, the glam system needs an overhaul to a degree, no limits, just make it so when you have something you have it forever.

Then my last criticism is this game is not alt friendly at all, you have basically nothing that is account bound, like maybe make achievements account bound? Make it so when you finish the expansion you have it finished on all characters you make and can choose to rerun the expansions if you want to.

  15. Well get the new field operation zone and watch, people will complain about it still in some fashion. Mark my words. Because they did so with Bozja.

Ive been shaking my head at the constant outcry for a Bozja like zone, praising it and all when the very same people did nothng but complain about its existance and its content.

So we didnt get one in Endwalker whole they tried other things. Some worked some didnt for meriads of reasons.

One of the big major problems these days as someone already pointed out in the comments is that the devs keep recieving conflicting and contradictory feedback that keeps painting a muddled picture as to what the hell people even want.

  16. im sorry, but how can some1 optimistic afther the msq from 7.1? We have literaly no reason to believe that this is going anywhere good.
    !SPOILER ALERT!
Catboy-king, who's literaly doing the "Gandalf-move"…for a Cow. he's risking the suffering of his oh so beloved sister (get a room already!) and the stability of his kingdom for nothing more but 1- in words: ONE Cow. He was …okayish at some points in 7.0, but far away from a strong male character. he's Wuks Stepping stone at best. one of the better ones, but this "you shall not pass!"-like szene destroyed every respect he earned before.
then Sphenes 'return' is another terrible choise; even if she's maybe a backup we met in new-alex. they made a story about the art of letting go…by reviving the ones who were rdy to kill everyone for a few more years of a mere-existing thing as Endless. this is even worse than that what the Asciens did. they planed for a working eternity with there lost brothers.

so no. i cannot aggree by any means that 7.1 is a reason to get optimistic. in fact, its just another nail in Dt's coffin for me.

  17. With the state of SE is in I have a feeling they are going to prolong releasing their new content that people been asking for because FF14 is the only game that is making them profit. And that will hurt then on the long term that could be permanent and hard to course correct.

  18. The current writing staff, really need to take a step back and go back to the drawing board; The game is about the WOL, not Wuk and the writing staff should stop trying to force her as the new main character. Don't get me wrong, I am not talking about the Dawntrail story just 7.1 content.

Lets start with the beast tribe quest, the first thing we see is a picture of Wuk in a flashback and then her "throne". Why was this even selected over the seen of the party fixing waters, building the float, how about chasing lama's; you had plenty of scenes to pick from that would represent community but instead a picture of her was picked, nothing speaks better about community then a person who is saying look at me.

Now the story.. What the heck is Wuk job? is she a leader because she has done nothing of the job since becoming to power, all she has down is whine about how other peoples feelings affect her while her brother does everything. The leadership should be a partnership but it is one sided. Make Wuk do stuff like a leader and her brother come with us. Why was she even in Alexanida for the funeral? She helped murdered the country queen if someone should of attend there it would be her brother whom might I add, is the technology side.

It was good to see her brother have a role in the story however it was kinda pathetic writing on how his biggest memory/ moment in his life was resulted in "Actually you have no right to feel how you have ever felt and you need to feel this way", SE should of left the story how he told it. Then again by doing it, Wuk's own back story would of been made less impactful giving the same thing happened to her, but you know what. That is one part of Wuk and her brother story I enjoyed, how bother was abandoned.

The biggest problem with 7.1 story is frankly the constant trying to shoehorn certain characters, into the story, bringing them in for one scene then having them disappear after one line. A message via linkpearl would had been more effective, it feels like that current writing staff hasn't even played through the story at all and only just skipped to the end. I also felt the overall quest story waffled on for too long. I get SE is trying to build a new story but pouring cerement before building a foundation isn't going to help.

  19. I understand on a deeper notion. But on the surface, I respectfully disagree. When casuals do only casual content and not even most casual content, they lose me. Some goes to hardcore players. Some people are not even doing the midcore content. The game has some horrific lull times but 7.1 just released and this isn't one and done. However I understand the game just doesn't inspire you and I hope community based content give you the inspiration you need. If the increased reward system is anything to go by, we'll be okay.

  20. As a Hardcore raider I really must say that 7.05 and now 7.1 are really only patches for people interesting in the Highend Combat side of FF. There is no casual content to be had. I'd also enjoy casual content. I can't wait for another Field Exploration zone just to chill out

  21. I personally don't understand why the patch content needs to come in 3 waves, like just give it to us all at once and why are launch alliance raids still not farmable despite 730 gear being farmable through hunts. I was hyped for this patch but now we have to wait for hildibrand and even longer for the new chaotic alliance raid. The time gating is killing hype. While I understand the .1 patches aren't usually amazing I need more to grind to keep me in the game. and I'm not talking about pointlessly long grinds like fates for hunts. something that is actually worth doing. That's why I love the deep dungeons, field exploration zones and treasure maps, yes they are grindy but not to the extent that it puts me off. and give me a reason to replay content because the alliance raid is brilliant.

  22. a 12 year player here. they legit slapped us in the face with dawntrail. the story was basically high school musical then universe ending threat yet again. i stopped caring about the story when i finished 7.0. there is no way they can go that will make it better. they fell flat on so many aspects. this was no "vacation" or "scion vs scion" expac. it was written by a complete novice. ff11 alliance raid i haven't done but holding hopes

  23. Well, I think that the mediocracy is still there in 7.1. Plots are all over the place, fillers fillers and more fillers. I was dying when a random NPC educated me how cow's dung meant alot to their daily living.

For someone like me who never played FFXI in the past, I'm not at all hyped by the FFXI-inspired raid. This patch is totally irrelevant to me. I shouldn't have high expectation of any subsequent follow up stories building upon a weak foundation. Sub expires in Dec, will not renew it until 8.0's firsthand reviews are in social media.

  24. I’m not sure why everyone is so worked up over the MSQ and the future of the game, but seems too anxious to me. Trust the process, let them cook, anticipate the pay out setup from EW.

Personally, I’m looking forward to uncovering the layers of Solution 9: with the president, wth with queen2, WTH with connecting to Vandiel adjacent to the gate… and then ultimately WTH with the wine glass crystal and Azem.

  25. Well, in my honest opinion after playing FFXIV for almost a decade, your view on the what should be fixed in the game is very unhealthy.
    – Many live service games rush and rush to release new content with a very lack luster or just downright horrible patches that feel just incomplete or rushed. If I had to choose between that or fixed major patches that are a bit lengthy, but feel complete, I think majority of gamers would choose the latter
    – You say that it "feels" like theres nothing to do, despite also stating that there is so much things to do, however it just "feels" like theres no content to do. Won't it just be an endless loop if they released criterion or boja or cosmic exploration earlier? You finish the content, and now theres nothing else to do. You wish there was more content despite there being more content, but just nothing else excites you to do it like initial patch day. Your wants and needs for FFXIV isn't realistic.

  26. The story was really awful this time. I mean I almost liked the mom plotline but more filler is just awful. The fights are fun but too few. And overall I'm hoping the new 'bozja' will fill the content gap. But overall like a 5-6/10 update

  27. I loved it. Still very much enjoying this game, I think some people take it too seriously for what it is.

In terms of money it costs a-lot less then games releasing at 60/70 but you can see it has a-lot more effort and love put into it.

I do find alot to do but I do all of the additional stuff such as variant dungeons, deep dungeons, levelling jobs, mount farming, minion farming. This keeps me busy enough until the next patch.

If it was none stop content I’d feel like I couldn’t keep up when I’m still very much playing through alot of the other stuff they introduced.

I’m very happy with alot of introduced things and I have faith the team who are actually gamers will continue to put effort into it. I played since shb.

I think an element of this is people just want to see something successful fail but if people don’t like it genuinely pick up something else. 🤷🏼‍♂️

  28. mostly satisfied for the moment. it does feel a little light like there should have been something more. i actually enjoy that the game doesn't have time sink systems designed to keep you playing. I like playing other games and ff14 respects my time fairly well without expecting it to become a basically a 2nd job or "main game"

and on the note of not having anything to do between patches find a better free company. the one i'm in has multiple events a week to keep people engaged and together as a community. we do things like pvp nights, movie nights, fashion competitions, learner events and more. I still show up for pvp events when i've finished the points ladder.

all and all i'm glad this game respects my time and doesn't make me no life it or critically fall behind with no chance of catching up like other mmos cough wow cough

  29. The Alliance Raid is pretty great, but I just cant bring myself to actually play through the MSQ. The FIRST cutscene. THE VERY FIRST CUTSCENE.. and already a wuk lmao in my face. I'd GLADLY replace that damn cat with Prishe and have a much better time

  30. A liked the Jueno Alliance Raid story more then I did the whole MSQ, just didn't like the whole Taco thing, for me it feels like making NA feels more entitled as some people on FF14 community get more obnoctious how YoshiP HAVE to listen only to American Audience since they are now majority of the playerbase.
