Another Final Fantasy 14 Ultimate, another cheating drama. Back in Endwalker we had people playing from the moon and now in Dawntrail a mysterious red dot was spotted on the World First Futures Rewritten clear picture. Xeno reacts to all the FFXIV red dot memes that resulted from this.

You say Sernaya is undermining the point that you can hide mods while streaming even though Serenaya legit says hiding stuff on stream is true in the next sentence. Serenayaâs tweet is probably more than what Iâm talking about, but I doubt the point they were trying to make was if the teams stream they donât cheat. I did watch your video all the way through so I understand everyone cheats and even if a team is streaming their prog, it is very much possible that they could have all kinds of stuff behind the scenes. Unless stuff comes out later, nobody knows what kind of extra stuff groups have going on in the background. But just from a nobody who knows nothing, I honestly thought it was fun and interesting watching different teams stream prog. Even if it was something they watched somebody else do and are just copying them. At least it âlookedâ like they had to practice strats and didnât simply get there and do everything with no strategy beforehand. Coming up with ways to do stuff and seeing where people struggle, to me at least, made it feel more authentic than some no name coming out of nowhere with a screenshot saying we did it first. Even if those kinds of teams come out with VODs of the clear after the fact there wasnât a showcase of everything that it took to get there. Obviously, opinion here. Iâm not going to contest if Grind deserves credit for World First, SE doesnât have anything official in that regard and honestly Frosty is more a community thing than rather than an official thing because, again, SE doesnât have anything official on World First. At the end of the day, we can all agree that screenshot that Grind posted was silly af.
What does red dot does btw? And me personally only truth race of any kind should be done on console.
The only way to make it legitimate is to make everyone play on console. But lets be honest most people cant remember their own password cause of Quick Launcher.
Does this mean we getting Pixel Perfect added officially next patch.
Lol all crafters specially omni crafters cheat. cough artisan cough
I play ps4/ps5, Iâve done every tier prior to DT, and UWU & TOP. The ultimates took up to 5 weeks, but Iâve cleared all floors by week 2 in the statics Iâve been in.
I know 6/8 were Pc and used ACT. This entire thing is blown out of proportion.
FF needs to whitelist some mods and ban the ones that give competitive advantages. I'm an avid Dalamud user but I think anyone that needs competitive advantages are below me as a player, even though I can't do these races. I strictly use Viera Hats/Hrothgar hats and then mods that do QoL stuff like showing me more detailed information about the location I'm in and Chat Bubbles. If you need assist you're clearly not a good player because these interactions are designed specifically without the mods in mind.
I remember watching Haru Hissatsu getting suspended on stream for having the red dot from PTOM on. Which just lets you know who is targeting you and who you're targeting. Now people all up in arms about another red dot.
I gotta admit, making dramatics of 3rd party is really boring. SE are not going to implement anti cheat. The entire RP community is corrupted by 3rd party. The entire raid scene runs on ACT and Alex as much as WoW runs on DBM in a practical sense. People wouldn't raid after getting their gear if not for parsing which therefore means you need ACT to even be telling you that information.
Any PC player that rants they run entirely stock, or a console player. Guess what, you're the minority. We don't see you here on World First races. Gee I wonder why?!
There's too much money and subs on the line for SE's literal life line of revenue to do anything about.
SE is a business first, and their product is a game people pay to play. No pay, no play, no money, no business. Simple as that.
JP law has the anti competition advantage laws, so in order for them to stay in line with that law, they say flat out no 3rd party whatsoever.
But SE is in a tough spot. They need the money from this game to sustain themselves, they know the proliferation is so deep within the community, but they got this stupid law to abide by because they're JP based. So they do the bare minimum to remain "compliant". This is most likely the stress that you see from Yoshi-P. A good player does a stupid, and now you need to suspend/ban them for the stupid. They don't want to, but law dictates that they be punished.
The other part that probably gut wrenches Yoshi P is that it's always JP making the screw up. Their home country is the best at playing the game, and the worst at hiding their 3rd party.
I was thinking for a second… What if in game ACT was enable only in private parties? That would eliminate the problem of it in the party finder…
The dot doest make a good player in ffxiv. Ive known people who used some much more cheating plugins and theyre still garbage players đđ
Literally 99% of raid teams have a shotcaller using cactbot.
Also, let's not act like dalamud doesn't have plugins that are cheats with 100,000's of downloads đ
Okay this situation may be dumb, but the memes that have come out of it are pretty good
womp womp
Detecting third party mods depends on what they are actually doing. Anything that does something for you? Like an auto-fisher or auto-clicker (even the macros on mice and keyboards) can be spotted by AI detection from a few decades ago. ACT? I dunno how it works, but if it's similar to WoW damage meters? Then yeah that's something you can see without doing anything special.
Usually despite what people think most mods are interacting with the servers in some way or another. Depending on the game detection can range from automatic to slightly annoying (ie: needing to actually watch the player interact with the game for a few minutes). In a lot of the older games like Everquest and Galaxies you could look at user A and see okay he's pinging the server at this interval, and then user B is pinging at three or twenty times that rate, okay they've got some mods or scripts going. In some games you can even remotely see everything they see (not just in game but on other windows) because the game essentially acts as a backdoor to the video card. I know at least as far back as 2010 it was doable in most games because essentially you're giving "permissions" to the game to access and utilize the video card. Edit: It's not the same remote accessing your computer, they are simply seeing a mirror of what you see. They couldn't move your mouse around or click on anything, just see what you see.
Initially mods were discouraged from some of those games not because of any toxicity or exclusivity but because they increased the work load on the servers. Most games the amount of users actually using mods was in the 5-20% range, but they could often create workloads for the servers that made them the equivalent of ten regular players.
Only way to combat it is forcing all those participating in World First to play on console and stream, screw the logging portion which is the only good thing for ACT imo.
At this point, if anti-cheat is implemented, it'll be insanely hilarious to see how many savage raiders mysteriously stop raiding.
Do i think it'll happen? No, because Yoshi-P doesn't have the balls to do what needs to be done and will once again scold the community like we were misbehaving kids. Come next ultimate, the cycle will repeat itself
Honestly atp just make it a thing where only the streamed first kills matter for any rewards and stuff. Off stream gets a wf cool acknowledge it but Kindred/Lucrezia/whoever gets whatever prize Echo and Mogtalk put together and the interview. There needs to be more incentive to stream wf as a team. I dont really care about people using addons or not to race but i do care about this bum ass drama popping up everytime
I know this plugin. It gives you ingame possitional where your mouse is. It is evidence that this person using plugins. For us clickers with sensory issues is helpful to keep the track on where the mouse is so we can click in time on specific skill. Yes, we exist xD The dot is an evidence that person used plugins. Does it mean they cheated with other plugins (looking at you Cammy)? I know know. Should this be a reason to be removed from world first? Absolutely yes. If there is any shadow of a doubt that the duty completion was clear the data should be removed.
Comment is so long so there is no misunderstandings :v Have a great day ya'll. GZ to all parties that cleared. Next drama in World of Dankness.
The problem imo isnât cheaters and mods, itâs offline teams. The wf race is a community event and if you wanna participate then stream it ffs.
No one is excited for these events anymore because some random team no one cares about wins and there is no storyline
Itâs like watching wrestling, the champion is fighting the underdog, except just as the match was heating up some rando from the crowd runs in with a chair.
Drug tests are used in sports all the time, and are bypassed all the time too, people dope regardless. That doesn't mean we should stop the drug tests just because so many are doing it.
If you're caught, you're caught. If you did it without getting caught, then congrats.
If the community accepts ACT for world first, then congrats.
If you accept red dot / zoomhack in the clear, then congrats to them too!
If you believe these mods are such a small convenience that they shouldn't matter, then why do they use them?
Why use something that could spark such a dumb shitstorm if it wouldn't make a difference in the clear? Could you just NOT use it then?
You can't just turn off the mods just for the world race, and then turn them back on for your daily non-event play?
I wish people would just own up to what they are doing instead of pussyfooting around the facts. If they posted that clear without the red dot, we would have ALL congratulated them without a second thought, and that's fine too. But if you're caught, you're caught. Doesn't "invalidate" the clear, just makes a point that they cleared first, with mods.
Nah, we know everyone cheats. But if youâre stupid enough to get caught, then you donât deserve your title.
The RWF is just like the Oscars; Its all a meaningless show to glorify the one percent.
So âVanilla World Firstâ is still up for grabs on all Ultimates is what Iâm hearing!
BTW, I understand why SE restrict third party in a very generic way. It's their game so they can do whatever they want. However, the RWF is an arbitrary race that SE has not sanctioned. Its all a community made event. So the only ones who can determine what is considered cheating is the community or better yet whomever organizes the race.
I'll laugh if Yoshida announces he's discontinuing ultimate style content.
I mean, there is no way members of literally every other top 5 team would be using cheating mods. It would be absurd to think that. Because if that were true, they would've been caught like GRIND. (This comment is sponsored by Xenosys Vex)
I have been waiting for this!
Yoshi P pulling his hair off rn
Why do I have to download a plugin so the scabbard of higan shigan isn't 3 times the size of my character? Why can't we mix and match au ra horns as we like? Why is the chat log a piece of shit? Why can't I display debuffs atop enemy nameplates? etc, etc, etc, etc. If the game wasn't stuck in 2012, people wouldn't use plogons. Simple as.
Once again Xeno missing the fucking point. As usual. The problem isn't cheating, it's getting caught. If you wanna cheat and compete, don't get caught. Want WF? Don't get caught cheating. If you have to cheat just to get WF, then do it but don't get caught. no one cares if you cheat. People care if you get caught cheating. no one gave a shit Lance Armstrong was a doping addict until he got caught.
I think as usual the issue here is people taking subjective feelings and trying to make them objective truths that apply to everyone, which is just stupid.
Objectively, it is as xeno says. All 3rd party is against ToS which means basically everyone involved is cheating in some capacity. Even if common sense says not all plugins are made equal, thems the rules.
But I do think that a middle ground needs to be reached in discussion about it. Yes, objectively all are cheaters and thereâs not really any way to reach an objective set of rules for a race unless square Enix did so themselves, whichll never happen.
But I think it should not be forgotten that ultimately the race is made for subjective enjoyment. Thereâs a group of people who find it fun for various reasons and for those who enjoy watching a competition, they at least want to subjectively feel at least a guise of âfair playâ.
I enjoy the race. I recognise the objective truths but those truths fall away when the hype moments of the race occur, watching people reach new phases, work on their prog and ultimately get their clear, even if we all know deep down that just using ACT makes them a cheater, because it doesnât feel that way.
I wonât go online ranting about how I wonât recognise the world first or whatever though, because ultimately itâs a game and so long as I continue to keep them as opinions only, are they wrong? Having someone sweep in to win credit for an event they didnât truly participate in feels bad, and I think a clear separation should be made for it. Not for âcheatersâ and ânon-cheatersâ, but simply for recognising those who actually participated in making the event so fun.
Someone cleared it first⌠okay cool but hey this team weâve actually been watching ahead of the others, all people were emotionally invested in and so long as I separate those events mentally, then I will continue to enjoy the race regardless of thoughts of âwho is cheatingâ or did the âwinnerâ stream
I wonder what plugins Xeno uses himself since hiding it seems to be so easy. Splatoon probably
ANyway who cares. Both FF wikies will not say that Grind got WF or even mention their names. kindred got WF
i can't believe Dalamud returned at this time of year… at this time of day in this part of Norvrandt… localized entirely within this raid?
Intro is some of the funniest, dumb shit I've ever seen
You would think, after previous World First cheating scandals, people would be much more careful but I guess not.
I love the dot addon. Been using it since ShB.
What xeno said is the straight truth the community doesnt say…we can pretend no one used gross scary add ons and call me a snitch buttt…..the download count FOR THE ADDONS ALONE for a certain program is pretyy damn high …and it aint like anyone in a square enix office cant just download the program anyways
….we haven't really learned from the zoom hack fiasco during Omega Ultimate haven't we….
xiv Alex, noclippy, ACT, pixelperfect. Tools a lot of people pretend like theyâre not using.
