  1. Love how they are doing the slow burn to the story, especially since we're only starting a brand new arc. Hopefully it'll eventually pay off big like in the previous arc, and we can enjoy the ride until then!

  2. The msq kinda ended abruptly on the last quest…. like it wrapped all of a sudden mid conversation compared to how msq usually end with the current events of the msq wrapped up, the npcs tell you to rest until further notice then the quest ends and u get the teaser for the next patch after

  3. So, let's see, in terms of characters, this MSQ:
    – completely destroyed any credibility Zoraal Ja had left as a badass. Turns out he didn't actually manage to kill a vidraal. He also completely freaked out at the prospect of being a dad, apparently unaware what his simp wanted to bang him for/have him jerk off in a cup for.
    – said simp was also completely surprised that her attempt to babytrap Zoraal Ja was not met with enthusiastic approval (also… eww at SE for actually putting this crap into the game)
    – had Koana and Wuk Lamat show more initiative in saving a fantasy bison than their own dad.
    – completely neutered the real-life parallel of the "industrialization encroaches on the native peoples lands and lifestyles" by having them just have the trains be quieter and making a magic whistle.
    – "somehow, Sphene returned!" cliffhanger, banking on probably the second-most divisive character from the 7.0 MSQ.
    – Koana and Gulool Ja were subjected to the same tired trope of "Your mother/parents loved you, but they're dead now, so you don't need to deal with them being imperfect beings, move on." that completely did away with one of the most interesting aspects of their respective characters.
    – again had a weirdly low amount of voiced cutscenes when it felt more voiceovers were warranted.

What is going on? I don't want to have these sorts of withering criticisms for my favorite MMORPG and probably my favorite story in a video game of all times, but here I am… why am I waiting four months now for a continuation on something I already don't care for? This is EW patch MSQ all over again.

  4. Thankyou so much haps for reading everything! It's very nice for work, where i can only listen to the video, and i can spend more time actually playing the game when im off since you caught me up on the storyline. ❤

  5. My question I am sitting on is what are they going to do about the plot thread they brought up with the kids with levinsickness.

I just hope they dont like… have them all get turned into endless. That would be dark even by FFXIV standards.

  6. I enjoyed this patch MSQ for the most part. The one thing that bugged me the most honestly was the reveal about Koana's parents. I get they were trying to make the pair out as brave and heroic, but considering what happened to him as a result, it just feels irresponsible for the parents to both run headlong into their deaths and just hope somebody happens to pick up their baby in the panic. I would have found it more satisfying if they had died trying to protect him while attempting to get away with the rest.
Buuuuuut that's just my opinion. Koana is still a precious bean, and I love his line "You'll find the Vow of Reason is not without resolve."
