  1. imo Krile got shafted for their most recently love affair with Wuk Lamat and now in 7.1 they dumbed her down to companion wich makes you think "why the fuck did we even focus that much on her in the .0 anyways ?" instead of focusing on what shouldv been the focus in the first place, they fell in love with a character and didnt read the room when players didnt they dont understand that just having Wuk Lamat shut up isnt enough she needs to leave PERIOD even if just for a while because her sheer presence makes people uneasy because theres over arcing thing of "when is this character opening her mouth and start this all over again"

  2. not playing anymore cuz of class design for quite a while now… the announcement of a rework was the first time in years when it sparked interest…. but dont believe they can nail that anymore… there are too many design philosophys in this game that drive me away

  3. This will always be the game's unique issue. 14 does not help players get into an MMO mentality of making the game your own thing. When you finish the story, you have to keep yourself busy, or this major flaw will show and you feel discouraged without direction

  4. You will not encounter a single new thing of any note for all of 7.x.

7.x is setting up a future. The main story of 7.0 was nothing but "Show them a new area and you have 2 1/2 years to setup 8.0". Everything will be as expected, much like all the skills from Lv.92 to Lv.100 are essentially "Here's a new button plus a follow up to an old skill." The 7.x series is the obvious conclusion of the battle system: massively homogenized and catering heavily to the lowest common denominator.

There will be nothing remotely outside of expectation except perhaps whatever new area they add later that's like Eureka or Bozja. The only difference in gear, as always, is aesthetic combined with +stats. No differentiation. You will get 24 man raid > 8 man raid + Savage > rinse/repeat until 8.0.

8.0 is where FFXIV shows that it's either changing and growing or where it decides to wither away and then we get the 2-5 year wait for the next FF MMO.

  5. I'm a bit of a sprout. I'm not completely new, but I've only played into a little bit of Stormblood. When I first started, everyone said the story in the beginning is slow. But stick with it because it becomes super good and the game play, in general, improves as you go. And I have found this to true. Now, in fairness, I know nothing about the Dawntrail story and any issues with the expansion. But, I say all this to make this point. Every story is slow in the beginning. Dawntrail is the beginning of a new chapter, or book, in the series. I imagine Dawntrail is going to be a bit like A Realm Reborn. They just need time to develop the new stories. I've always been impressed with the developers of this game. Not that they never make mistakes. But they seem to truly care about the game and the fans. I think everyone just needs to be patient. I do believe it'll be alright 😊✌

  6. – We want class identity!
    – Okay, we heard you loud and clear
nerfs superbolide, make esuna insta cast for every healer, makes dragoon jump into dash, delete timers from Viper
It's 2025, devs can't figure out how to do the armory system from 2013, making hats is too difficult and for some (money) reason instead of investing in instanced housing or more houses they want you to pay rent to not lose your house in a videogame.
For a live service game, service we're getting kinda medicore at best, MMO genre is dying, if you can't even make your own community excited and hopeful, your game will slowly rot, adding one variant or open zone content year later won't help if someone already lost connection with the game.

  7. I gotta be honest, I get what bothers ppl about the game truly, but sometimes I feel as a player that’s been playing since 1.0 into 2.0 reset I can’t complain, hell I was used to spamming the same fate everyday on end to lvl 50, and sitting in mor dhona when it was just a camp fire, I’m just glad I got something to do again 😂😂😂

  8. I stopped playing ffxiv at the end of endwalker. I've played since heavensward and i love this game so much but my biggest problem with the new expansions in ffxiv is strictly gameplay related. I feel that the tanks/healers designs have become so lazy and homogeneous that it has become boring af since every healer and tank feels almost the same. I really wish that square enix would grow some balls and make every tank/healer have it's own advantages/disadvantages.

  9. Valid points but I would not classify the feedback of 7.1 as negative. I value Koana's character development and appreciate the combat implemented. I still strongly dislike Wuk Lamat and FF14 changing her voice lines (Last trial) makes me laugh how they are trying to course correct versus sunset this awful character.

  10. Negativity?
"Reviving" that wizard-lizard. Sorry, there is 0% chance of him surviving >50 meters drop from bridge with slashed back. Then getting up alive and SOMEHOW finding way back up onto the bridge (it wasn't shown that there is any way to get back up).
While portal works. (We saw that it automatically disables after some time)

On my main gripe: Butchering english localization in voiced scenes. By now I only met first voiced scene and there they butchered only 30% of two voice lines. WAY better than 7.0 where they butchered 50-60% of ALL voiced cutscenes.

  11. I just feel that the amount of money this game gets every month does not reflect the content and quality the players get. VII Rebirth and XVI didn't meet expectations according to SQEX, so it seems XIV is carrying the company, yet it doesn't get enough attention.

  12. I'm going to do the weekly raids, finish leveling my trusts, level two remaining tanks on my main and hoping to chip away at the shared fates and a lot more treasure map dungeons…

… I'm also a madman that has alts. I'm not going to run out of things to do

  13. I enjoyed DT personally. Sure it absolutely had its issues, and sure it absolutely is the worst expansion but you know what? I had fun. I liked the story. I liked the characters. Wuk Lamat is definitely overbearing and had way too much presence, but I didn't let it ruin my enjoyment of the expansion. I tried to keep optimistic about everything in general, and to not nitpick everything, and it payed off because I ended up having a great time and now I look back upon Dawntrail fondly, not with negativity. I enjoyed all content, msq and not (altho the story for the 24 man has somewhat disappointed me, but the raid itself was fun!). 7.1 was just as fun too, and the cliffhanger at the end actually had me excited to so I'm more than ready for next patch. I just wish more people could enjoy it like I did too. 🥰

  14. 4:10. To me it kind of did. Remember when Wuk Lamat beat Bakool Ja Ja out of nowhere, because her determination gave her power? What about all the people we lost over the years? Did they just not believe enough? Perhaps Haurchefaunt just needed to try a bit harder, then he could have been as good as Wuk Lamat.

God I hate DT and Wuk Lamat.

  15. I'm currently playing in Stormblood quests, and it's definitely very weird to see sooooo much negative feedback. I also can't fully understand why. Is it just the story? Is it because when you finish the expansion, not only was the story boring, but nothing in the game excites you? I'm not sure. All I can say is, the game is vastly different as someone playing the game, and someone waiting for content. Currently, I play the game hours a day, and probably won't reach the end of the dawntrail expansion for months and months. However, when I do, and I get the loot I want, level the classes I find fun. Then what is there to do? It becomes a different game, on a 2 year clock. Where you can play for a few weeks at a new expansion, but for the other 22 months, you have little / nothing to do because youve beaten the story, played all the dungeons, gotten your fashion, leveled anything that's interesting to you, etc.. How can SE possibly let you forever be in the game, doing interesting things? I don't know if that's possible. I can say it'll take me years, if they stopped releasing updates, to get truly 'done' with what I want to do. Crafting, gathering, alt classes, deep dungeons, there's a million things I'm interested in, but for the next few years, if I choose, I can have an amazing, amazing time.

  16. I think l want people aren’t understand is that this is A NEW BOOK. Endwalker was the end of a story and this is a new story. The only criticism that have been seeming is about people wanting to feel like they are the main character. People even have the Gaul to say they don’t like the story because one of the VAs is transgender.

  17. If they skipped the whole cultural field trip and went right into the Alexandria plot, 7.0 would be bearable. In SB you see Zenos as a constant threat from start to finish. Sphene only comes in at the tail end of the story!

  18. My issue is the pacing for the story.
Dawntrail similar to stormblood tells two story's.

But storm blood was essentially 50/50 and mixed them up. The alamigo quest line sucked imo. Was so boring. The Doma one was great though. But they kept you bouncing between them. So it never wore you out.

Dawntrail tells the royal selection stuff and Alexandria.
The royals stuff sucked. And it took like 70% of the expansion. Then the Alexandria story was actually good. But way to short and rushed.

I get it's the first chapter of the new storyline, so I expected it to be a bit slow. But if they shortened the royal storyline and expanded the Alexandria one, I think it would have been better.
The content, graphics update, music, Regions, and content were honestly good. The raids were great imo so far. ( Though I just typically do base raids and alliance raids.).

I think they can easily recover in the next expansion. And I'll still be playing for a while to come

  19. The worst part about DT was not the fact that story doesn't entirely make sense, or that there was way too much exposition, it's just that it is BORING. It bored me to tears, to the point I forced myself to watch the cutscenes as not to skip them. Ok, you are like 97, you get to the electrope area, what do we do now? LEARN ABOUT THE FARMING METHODS. Who wrote this garbage? Did they forget every mistake from ARR? Like, Stormblood was pretty meh, but it isn't considered to be boring.

  20. Patch 7.1 really made me wish we hung out with Koana more, he's so much more interesting than Wuk and we're barely allowed time with him alongside us.

I definitely enjoy the gameplay content of the expansion, and it's the main thing making me come back, that Alliance raid woke me the hell up for once with that chaos.

I just, don't have anything in the story, interesting me enough at the moment to let me care, but honestly, I've come to expect that for a .1 patch

  21. Yes everything we wanted is actually coming in 8.0 Come 8.0 everything we want will be in 9.0. But it will actually be 9.5 so basically 10.0. Let's linger in mediocrity and copium for another 5 years.

  22. FFXIV has been an absolute embarrassment of an mmo ever since 6.1

There needs to be some significant group content added in, even if you can do it solo, but put us in a place where you see other people, and make it last longer than 20 minutes. When all of the content for a major patch update can be finished within 8 hours on day 1, you have a serious problem with your game.

  23. I really enjoyed the thirteenth storyline from endwalker post msq, and then suddenly its dt instead. A couple of quests to introduce wuk, and then into dt. It was a grinding slog. I hated it. I cannot wait until we get back to the big stuff that actually requires the warrior of light.

  24. I started FF14 back in 1.0, left after a few months, then came back for the last couple months before Calamity. Came back in 2.0 and stayed till midway through Heavensward and left for a long while. Finally came back right before Endwalker and had a lot of catch-up to do because it was almost an entirely new game. I played WAR since ARR then DRK main since HW (I was a DRK in FFXI).

I did not like the first 2/3 of 7.0. Once I reached 100 and the end of that portion of the Main Scenario I mostly stopped playing. The only lure for me to play more now in 7.1 is the Road to Jeuno story. But that Raid is iLevel 695, and since I didn't annoyingly spam dungeons for the last few months I didn't have Tomestones to upkeep gear so I'm too low to get in. So that's annoying; I have to spam the latest one for gear.

Since I did come back for EW, I did notice how most of the Jobs seemed to merge abilities and become almost carbon-copies of each other. We didn't even have Job quests anymore, just "Role" Quests. I miss the Job-specific Lore and stories that FFXI gave us. I think FFXI was overall a better game, but FFXIV has a preferable faster gameplay (I really miss Sandbox/Open-World Dungeons). I would love to see less homogenization of the Jobs and bring back the uniqueness they had.

  25. I finally got full omni-fighter and omni-crafter right before the patch dropped. Now I'm building up gil to get my own Large house one day. Then I'll have to get more gil to decorate it. Then I'll need MORE gil for all the mounts. I think I have plenty to stay busy with.

  26. Honestly I feel like a lot of this hate is kinda unnecessary. Your free to dislike characters and a story but to this degree we’re people say Wuk ruined this expansion just reminds me of all the dislike for SB and lyse. That’s to say, I don’t think DT is perfect. Krille should have def been more of a focus as well. But all this negativity and hate just reminds me of how people felt during about three starwars prequels. Then years later people realized that they overreacted and found lots of positive with it despite its flaws. To me that’s what DT is. It has flaws but overall it’s a fun story. Just a shame some people want to find nothing good with the story and act like it’s the worse thing they have played.

  27. DT is the first Expansion I skiped the MSQ after some hours. It was unbearable for me sadly. It had MANY issues in my oppinion. But I like the Ex Trials so far and the 8 man/24 man are fun too.

  28. Been playing this game for since Realm Reborn, dropping on/off for sometime but always subbed for months at a time. This last time I got back as Dawntrail had just dropped and finished out Shadowbringers and Endwalker (Endwalker being my favorite expansion this far). Not sure if because I was coming off of what I thought was the best expansion, but I have yet to enjoy anything about this storyline so far.

Very hard to get into and this is the first time experiencing a "ugh" feeling as I make my way through MSQ. These conversation go on forever (again not bad) and they are not very interesting or just awkwardly long. Hoping it gets better later on, but so far I am unimpressed.

  29. This comment section rough to read. I'm so glad I'm not having a miserable time with Dawntrail. Not like I DON'T have criticisms, but I'm shocked that people feel THIS negatively about the expansion. Many things people don't seem to like are things I unironically enjoy about it.

If anything is unfortunate about DT from my perspective, it is how divided the story has made players. Even at its previous "worst" the playerbase didn't seem this vitriolic. Then again, I started during Shadowbringers so I did miss any potential discourse generated during Stormblood. I feel like there must be factors outside of the game that are causing this, but overall the atmosphere of talks surrounding DT is draining.

  30. Made me quit playing after 6 years.

The story is garbage and the new characters are not anything I am interested in

But no new glam plates, no updates character customization options, no butt slider, no Viera hats… and on and on

No thinks. I have done enough

  31. I was actually pretty ok with 7.1. The redone VA lines fixed the ending of 7.0 for me (I still think there was too much Wuk Lamat, overall). I liked the new group content, and I'm genuinely interested in seeing where they go with the people of Alexandria. You're introducing loss and grief to people who've never experienced it, and now those people are dangerously close to going back to the blue pill because they can't handle it.

One moment won me over this patch: when Wuk Lamat didn't insta-solve the problem in Alexandria. I hated that in base 7.0, and I was afraid the writers wouldn't learn their lesson and have her solve everything with one feel good speech. When the Alexandrian kid was scared about the concept of death, and Wuk mentioned the Yok Huy, I was relieved when the boy wasn't pacified. He's still scared, and nothing anyone can say will make it magically go away. It makes me wonder what will get through to them.

This story ends in 7.3, the devs have confirmed that one. That means all these threads with Teeshal Ja, Zoraal Ja, Gulool Ja, Sphene & Imposter Sphene will be tied up. It also means that something will get through to the Alexandrians about death, grief and remembrance — and I sincerely hope it's us that does it (the WoL). No character has experienced more loss and pain than the WoL. 7.3 need to be the point where the writers bring the story back to us.

  32. I think the negativity is getting lame. Yeah, i also didnt enjoy the story as much but i honestly love everything else. Trials, Raids, Dungeons have never been this fun. Plus they said that DT is gonna be a fresh slate and they'll go with what sticks and what not. I also think 7.1s story was way more interesting than the whole of 7.0 (except the koana part, that was stupid)
