The exodus from World of Warcraft to Final Fantasy XIV is something historic. Never has there been anything like this in the history of gaming. I hope that the quality of FFXIV continues to hit our expectations and that the many WoW refugees who are playing find a permanent home here in Eorzea.

it's fantastic to get into this game because all of the older content and updates, including raids, are more or less still relevant, challenging, and rewarding. despite some balancing quirks, the way they've set up tiering content and level scaling is genius. I've found myself spending hours looking at all the cool glams to get in the rewards for the older high-end content
You could level an alt offline and leave the MSQ for your streams.
Give it 6 months…
When you have a great dev team that's responsive to player feedback and a welcoming community, you're going to have a great game.
And like everyone says, it only gets better.
The last big MMO Migration I remember, was people leaving Everquest 1 for WoW when WoW came out.
throw wide the gates.
Its amazing to see the FFXIV community open the gates to us sprouts. Looks like we have some growing to do
I think the generally affable and positive environment can be attributed to YoshiP’s borderline Messiah-istic presence on the game. This game would be trash if it weren’t for him. And being a regular voice in communication keeps everyone grounded the united as we al know who to rally around: YoshiP
Pub G > Fortnite is the only other migration I can think of.
What data center and server are you on? If you're on Crystal, I can help you anytime.
Hello from Leviathan! Welcome aboard! If you got any further future questions feel free always! Don't be afraid to speak out if you don't get something, especially in mentor's presence! (we promise we don't bite~ and we aren't all bad!) If any, I am one :> Ruuj is my name!
as a 15 year WoW veteran, I didn't think i could hop to a new MMO because i invested so much time into WoW. the whole concept felt so strange to me. a month ago i made the decision and have been playing every day since. my first impressions was a lil awkward because of the random gatherings of kitty/bunnys in skimpy outfits. but once i looked past the silliness and got invited into the novice network. I realized how beautiful the community is, aside from some very uhhh interesting RP. everyone i interacted with was helpful and welcoming. I just hit level 80 and finishing the MSQ, truly excited to see what other things i can get into.
THROW WIDE THE GATES
Its been kind of a perfect storm of events. For one, you have WoW players who are fed up with their game. Meanwhile, FFXIV Fanfest dropped around the same period of time, which game with a deluge of cool new information that got eyes on the game. Not to mention there had been some videos and the sort of former WoW players which themselves were seen by larger WoW community figures.
These combine with XIV's strong reputation to get the interest of said big WoW figures and try it out for real. Turns out they liked it, and thus brought their audiences. Which then caused cascade effects through game media outlets talking about it which then brings in even MORE people.
And all of it during the downtime between the 5.5 patch and the release of Endwalker. So the existing players don't have much to do on their own, so they also see helping out all these new players as an opportunity to stay involved in the game during what would otherwise be a quiet few months. Which then helps the fan bases reputation, which brings even MORE players in! Meanwhile, the sexual harassment allegations came out, thus reinforcing the desire that those who might have been on the fence about leaving WoW to finally pull the trigger, and for those who may have intended to just stay for a couple weeks to instead decide to make XIV their main game in order to stick it to Blizzard.
And then the story breaks that the game has gotten SO popular that it can't even handle it, which then adds a sort of FOMO effect on top of that!
Been playing FF for over a week, after trying GW2 . Wow is such a bad product , both games are vastly better . FF is simple amazing , it’s an MMORPG , while blizzard really is just an MMO, a poorly made MMO. I’m a wow player since beta , I’m shocked how much better FF is . People have woken up and started trying other games, and once you do that you quickly see just how bad wow is , how totally lacking in passion and creativity and FUN. Very few wow players who try FF are ever going to want to throw money away on sub par blizzard products again , I know I don’t . Good luck all
Glad to see you are enjoying your time with the game and the community. You will come across the bad apples, that is unavoidable. Toxis pkayers exist everywhere but I sincerely hope you and your viewers have a great time enjoying this game that gave me joy and a way to play with my overseas friends easily.
