  1. I'd love a Time Mage as a caster DPS. Question is what would their spells be? I was originally thinking a DoT heavy caster with a way to reset their DoTs and have a mechanic tied to them to get access to burst spells, bit then realized that describes Bard pretty much on the nose.

As far as healer, as much as I'd like an chemist, I think geomancer is the way to go. Fire and earth for attack, wind and water for heals. Maybe make them focused on party wide healing with one or two single target, with the caveat being your group heals aren't as strong as the other healers?

  2. If we get time mages as magic damage dealers I hope they use wants. Firstly because black mages kind of strayed away from wands never to be used again, so its now an unused weapon type, and secondly cause c'mon, using wands sets them up PERFECTLY for Doctor Who transmogs.

I bring up black mages with their wands, but if time mage gets wands I hope they don't get shields as well. Just the wands please.

  3. geomancer was in FFTA and that job is a caster that is based on weather and ground typing

so i think its rather hard to implement it in the game as normal job

for healer, i have feeling its going to be elementalist

elementalist is focusing into debuff, disabling, and healing through the power of elements

    for caster, im guessing illusionist
that job is focusing on target all enemy, im not sure how they gonna change it, probably going to be caster that focusing on ground target skills

for ranged, i think its going to be sniper
    basically ranged samurai with debuff

  4. GEO would be caster if anything. They come up in the AST quests as having similar theory to WHM/AST, but in the lore, they're very destructive in practice. That whole AST quest revolves around GEO needing AST assistance because they can't do much in the way of restoration on their own (at least not Kyokuho's school of Geomancy, which has a location in Kugane and has been ready to open for several patches of dialogue now).

Geomancy is a bit of a catch-all for various magical practices across Othard and Hingashi, it seems, so a GEO dps caster isn't out of the question. Especially since some of the concepts for an Onmyouji-themed caster got rolled into RDM.

  5. I think the 2 new jobs will be Geomancer and Time Mage. One will be a healer the other a caster. Either could be the other. I'm sure Beastmaster will be a limited job but I REALLY don't want any more limited jobs.

  6. Green mage as healer… Cuz yoshi p loves ff tactics.. As dps it is harder to guess

Dps guessing that shares armor gear with:
    Ninja gear : mystic knight
    Dragon gear : Rune knight
    Range dps : gambler

    Magic dps: Time mage

It can be one of dps i mentioned above… As healer finger crossed it will be green mage.

  7. Chemist sound more like a ranged dd, throwing potions, etc.
Time Mage sounds too similar to current jobs
BST for sure, imo (And they are BST NPCs in this game?)
Could be 100% wrong of course.

  8. Geomancer-Healer: The Astro quest line ends at 80 with Kyokuho literally showing up in Ishgard to explain that he’s started a Geomancer school that’s becoming very popular. They’ve been teasing GEO since Stormblood.
Necromancer-Magic DPS: Astro is pretty much Time Mage with its “Time and Space” themed spell kit, with Gravity, Lightspeed, etc. I think Necromancer because we literally just had a Necromancer WoL in the Hero’s Gauntlet. “Tainted as I am, I am still a Warrior of Light!” I think this job will be a Darkness mage, probably with some DoTs, but will have OGCD’s or “Guage Buildup” abilities where they summon temporary “pets”, much like MCH, in the form of skeletons, zombies, etc, that have different effects. Skeletons do melee damage to a single target for, I dunno, 14 seconds, zombies do AoE cones, etc.

  9. Chemist as a healer with mudra-like skills, that stocks potions in a holster to use later as instant OGCDs with no recast. Could even have a standard/technical step-like mechanic that temporarily changes potion components into weaponskills, call it "Prognosis" or something like that.

Geomancer/Onmyo as a caster dps with lower dps potential that uses talismans/seals to buff party members / debuff enemies, and occasionally summon shikigami to do big attacks then disappear (more like Hellfrog Medium than having a pet).

  10. I doubt we're getting another ranged so soon, but if we do I'd bet Corsair. Combines elements of RDM and AST as a ranged physical, job gauge would likely be a hand of playing cards or dice or something else gambling related.

  11. Imho, FFXIV will see another 2 big expansions and they’ll cap level at 100. So we have 4 years before this scenario.
For new jobs, I don’t like casters but this is only for me. I would be happy for another ranged DDR3 instead.
We have already 4 casters if we include blue mage as a caster and I think it would be an error leave blue as a limited job.
I think, in 5.5 blue will be reworked and prepared to be a real job for the 6.0. So, here the caster.

About Beastmaster: we have see him in Bozjan and it would be a complete jobs with the same chance to see a geomancer as a healer, imho.
As a limited job? Why? Why? Why? XD.
Now Blue is used to speed up fates events and to bring explosion at the weddings, so you guys really do you want another useless job? First Yoshi need to add Blue as a complete job, then we can talk about beastnaster 😀

About healer we can have some options: an apothecary, or something like this that use potion to heal. It’s seems a good lore choice but how can it work? Throwing potions? Or spells that are quite like potions? Mmh, dunno.
A time mage: well, what if an healer using a giant hammer able to deal damage with Meteora and healing reversing time? Well, I could renew my sub for a time mage, but this is for me only. Also we have seen something like this in the Eden’s so….
Necromancer: a healer (or a cast) that use necromancy to deal and heal…nah I’m not so convinced. Edda in 2.0 is something like a necromancer (and she has a spell named “healing something”. Is it the revenge of a poor damned soul? I personally loved the little lore behind Edda..so Requieacat in pace Edda!!

About PhR DDS. If you all go up in limsa at Marauder’s Guild and standing in front of the gates you will see two banners with the crossed guns. I remembered Marauders didn’t use guns to fight so, why two banners with two guns…and just right above this banners there are four/five rifles used for…
If you check none of the others guilds at limsa, nor at Gridania and Uld’ah have something like this. The option which these banners are the symbol of Limsa are really really bad.
In 5.4 we had something about Merl and her gun (which that gun have also a name). This make me wonder: Why are there these EE’s ? I found something particular about those guns. They will be intended to be another job, munsketeer in 1.0, if I’m not mistake. Why leave them there? As a troll? Or to remember? Mmh..more questions..

Last thing we have to consider is how many jobs will be add in the future ij all expansions that shall come out.
Officially atm we need another healer, a caster and a PhR DD to fill all role with 4 jobs.
—If in the 6.0 will be introduced 2 jobs, in 7.0 will remain only one job left. This a bad scenario.
—If in 6.0 they will introduce blue as a caster and one healer and a PhsDD we will have all role with 4 jobs. In an hypothetical 7.0 the should introduce four jobs and close FFXIV with a massive exoansion (this is the scenario I hope) or add none (worst than the first one imho)
—if Se and Yoshi will continue working in FFXIV over 7.0 the’ll need to update luminoso engine and the games will be opened for a looong time.

Personally I hope in the 7.0 as the ending of FFXIV bc the most problem of FFXIV and his jobs is one: we need a new role named synergist.

  12. I really think its going to be chemist and time mage. Haste spells would be super awesome to play around with. But I just wonder how hard that would be to balance around. I can see every class being able to optimize a big speed buff, but I feel like black mage would NOM NOM NOM that buff harder then any other class sence they have like unlimited mp. I guess that depends on how much a haste spell would affect skill speed and spell speed respectively

  13. My hope for a chemist healer is no mp use, pure charges and resources with a mix of ninjas mudra system to mix higher level regens or shields. Obviously a pure charge and resource healer is a tall order, but i have faith in yoshi p's team.

  14. chemist is a job in FF5 and FFT, and in FFT, they also had it as alchemist in FFX-2. so them having riqi tio in the MSQ for 5.3, to literally just have you look into becoming a potion based healer. I think it's VERY likely.
thb mr.happy made a very good point against time mage, in that lore-wise time magic is too "big" to really give us time magic as something to throw around.
Geo is NOT going to be a healer, if it is I will be massively disappointed, for 2 reasons. 1, the geos in the ast quests are literally just conjurers, as well as the geos in swallows compass are offensive only. and 2. in FF11, and really every other ff game, geo is NOT a healer in any way shape or form, it (like dancer) in 11 has like 1-2 healing abilities for self sustain or like support, but it is an offensive job. in fact in FF11 geo is a buff/debuff, support heavy caster dps. which, while I don't particularly want Geo as a job personally, would fit what I and as you said you do as well, want from our 4th caster.
personally I would LOVE if we got Oracle, as a yin/yang, buff/debuff caster, because A: we could learn from gaia and ryne (if only they were MSQ and not raid story locked) and could then make a fairly strong arguement for a melee caster using a hammer, and B: would be able to use both Light (buffs/heals) and Dark (debuffs/big damage) and maybe even have a neat mechanic of stance dancing between the two as part of your rotation, or like summoner phases but instead of different high summons it's swapping between being light and dark, and hell they could even give them a full on melee only phase to really give the hammer time to shine instead of feeling tacked on.
I know they WON'T do that, but it'd be cool.

  15. Think what a lot of people forget is that they don’t need to add in a job from an older FF title. Take our most recent example as Gunbreaker, they said themselves that it’s an XIV original job. They could do things like this in the future too

  16. Rather than the job name itself, I'm actually quite interested on how the healer functions (if the role is one). You got the regenerative healing, the prevention healing, the "i can do both" healing. What's next? I really hope they can branch out of these two.

I'm quite skeptical about this fact, but I hope that either of these healers will emerge:
    – the heal ally on damage kind of healer
    – the freeze or unwind kind of healer
    – the item oriented (not only spell wise, but some real pool-selected pouch items that has limited quantity that refreshes on combat exit) kind of healer

it may break the balance or the paradigm of the whole combat, but hey that's why expansions exist right?

  17. I feel like the only person in the world who hates the idea of a time mage when astro exists. Like I don't care I'm already bored. All of time mages iconic abilities are taken or won't function without being namesake only versions in this game and astro has their aesthetic. Just give astro time back stuff instead of wasting a job slot on time mage.

  18. I’m really hoping for an apothecary job. When I think of chemist in FF I think of Rikku’s Overdrive ability in FFX. It was life-saving and fun. It’d be neat if they had a mug ability (I know ninjas have that, but is it even useful? Obviously I don’t play NIN), but if it was reworked to guarantee an item on so many uses, which can then be used towards mixing, similar to how Rikku’s playstyle worked, I think that’d be fun. I also think geomancer has a high chance of becoming a caster job; I expected it for Shadowbringers, but since we didn’t get it I expect it even more for 6.0

Also, just curious—I’m a SMN main and I don’t see anything wrong with pet AI…? I’ve heard SCH faeries aren’t that reliable, though I have very little experience with them.

  19. While i agree we need more healer classes in the game, i feel the game is way too oversaturated with dps classes and while an arguement can be made that there are different types of dps, those being ranged, magic, physical, etc, it can all still be boiled down to just simply dps classes

  20. Geomancer makes more sense as a Magical Support DPS job, essentially acting as the casting equivalent to Dancer.

In Final Fantasy XI, where most of the classes in 14 get their inspiration, Geomancers use self targeted AOE bubbles to enhance stats or effects, can cast a stationary ground targeted bubble to incur a second effect, and have access to pretty strong elemental damage magic.

I can see them essentially having AOE Aura buffs/debuffs that they can self cast, a ground targeted buff/debuff bubble they can drop (ala Salted Earth from DRK), and access to strong Water, Air, Earth, and Fire magic. The radius of their auras and bubbles would require a lot of strategy and force them to be inside of melee damage for a majority of the fight, which would be a fun mix-up from standing in the back firing off nukes. Maybe they even have some melee skills that incur special effects to emphasize their front line participation.

In my opinion, this makes a lot more sense as the second job coming over Time Mage, with the lore implications from Stormblood and AST quest lines heavily implying that Geomancy is an art that exists in Eorzea, and one that can be learned by drawing power from the natural elements.

  21. What if they got for BLM a stance who change numbered spells like fire and thunder in earth and air ones? so we can have a 4 element rotation (maybe with Quake and Tornado as finishers)…that would be very nice ^^
