Beyond the whole sadness of this zone, I do enjoy the mystery of what reflection Alexandria comes from. I'm assuming this is why Y'Shtola was brought in before the end of the expansion, so she can do her thing in the patch story.

So, it’s actually not simply a nod to the classic elements and the FF9 world map. You first visit a shrine, to defeat the main villain then and there, but are then sent on a quest to explore the corners of the world. First the bottom left, where after commandeering a ship you turn off the water terminal. Then you head to the southeast, where you aid aid in saving people from a fiend which eventually leads to the defeat of the earth terminal. Next, you travel to a land of dwarves who live in a volcano and destroy a terminal of fire… If you aren’t catching on, this is also yet another direct nod to FF1!

Of all the moments in the MSQ, I kept going to the Unending Journey to rewatch Krile reuniting with her parents. It felt so satisfying and still brings tears to my eyes.
