  1. I can’t wait for your video on how to prepare for savage. I’ve only been playing for about 3 months but I want to get into savage later down the line
Maybe in a year or two đŸ€Ș cause I have a looooong way to go haha

  2. Great advice!

While I had fun doing Pandemonium savage (my first time ever doing that in FF14) with friends, the stress and time commitments did tire me out.

And I’ve done call-outs for Hyd EX as the healer. That
was rough, especially when a lot of folks are still learning the fight and you have to cycle around keeping folks up, i go full auto mode meaning i forget to tell folks the mechanics and
now it’s not just the BRD that’s dead.

It is great and fantastic! The feeling of accomplishment when *as a team*, you take down the boss. It’s extremely fulfilling and exciting.

    Thanks again Stefan!

  3. Savage, Ultimates, Extreme (EW ex tho i already did my first clear on Zodiark EX with my practice group and the upcoming Endsinger EX), Unreal contents is not for me even with unsync and im not a midcore or hardcore raider . Im a casual player.

  4. Nr 2 for sure! Thnx for the vid. It helps to be realistic about savage❀. Wanna try but just not a lot of time, wanting to try out/ lvl every job and crafter/ gatherer. And balancing playing FF14 and Elden Ring 😅.

  5. None of these were harsh imo, theyre pretty solid advice and very, very honest. Savage is quite a time commitment. Not only are you raiding to progress, but youre also in need to schedule reclears, homework time, and communicate with your static members openly about what you need and where improvements need to be made. So, with this in mind, if youre having static time twice a week, that is easily 4-6h of time you need to plan in every week for this content.

  6. I’m a filthy casual so already I’m not onboard lmao

    Putting memes aside
None of these particularly dissuade me. I don’t mind chat, a static/friend group, I already do tons of research on raids, trials, and dungeons so to add savage isn’t a problem
I’m just not interested cause I like casual content

  7. Excellent guide! Some background: I raided hardcore in WoW for several years, starting with ICC, Ulduar, all the way through to MoP. Now, I'm 65, I don't have the reflexes or frankly, the mental capacity anymore for learning 10-12 current strats within a couple of weeks. I figure I've done my time at the sharp end.

Thankfully, FFXIV has content for EVERY level and discipline of player. My real favourite thing is the Alliance raids. I still die a lot, forget mechanics and make stupid mistakes that annoy me, but as long as I'm not actually terrible, no one really cares. I get to see quite a few funny rez messages as well.

Savage, Ultimates and even current Extremes require the patience and discipline to put in the hours to progress. No shade if you can't, or don't want to. Me, I'm so happy with the story and the community that it helps me relax after a hard days work. Honestly, this is the best game I've ever played.

  8. You should add to this list: "If you crave praise." Some people who do savage content seem to solely be motivated by needing others to worship them. I've run into people who get angry and defensive if you don't "respect" their savage raiding accomplishments.

Personally, I don't even really get dealing with the time commitment for savage content when there are so many other things to do in game.

  9. Like playing any ranked match in any games.
    Don’t expect to be carried.
Study the fight get good and don’t waster others or your time.
Otherwise don’t bother doing it or just do it with the like minded party who enjoy the grind and will go easy on each other during the progression.
The day will come and the boss on farm, enjoy that first-kill moment with your group! Priceless!

  10. as a Savage raider whos been doing savages since ARR, take this video with a grain of salt. All of these points he makes can be worked around and the DPS checks become very forgiving after the first couple of weeks.

  11. hmm. I would say there's a high up-front sink of time to get decent at raiding. With some experience, you'll start to group different mechanics that, although may be visually very different, require you to do similar or identical movements are actions, and sort of begin to streamline your learning so that you're able to consolidate large amounts of information into useful "cliff notes" that are easy to keep in your head. From then on, doing the fights a bit becomes a much shorter process of tweaking your understanding and execution of the fight so that you can kill it.

As for your rotation- It starts to feel like a sort of dance with the fight. You have to sink the time in on a training dummy initially, then every now and again to keep it fresh, but eventually it works its way into muscle memory. You don't have to be absolutely perfect every time (although you'll want to be, and sometimes will which feels good), the most important thing is to minimize downtime. That means always be pressing something as often as you can given a fight's mechanics. Having this focus in mind, you'll start to associate parts of the fight with parts of your rotation which makes executing both actually easier, since they then become cues to one another.

all of this is to say is that you can casually do savage content at a decent level with minimal time investment over the long run, but in the short run you do have to sink in a lot more time depending on how quick of a learner you are. It won't be forever, so you can still have plenty of time to keep up with many other things, but you should be aware that initially you do have to put in some productive hours.

it still may not work out for some people, but I think it's important to point out that it's less of a long-term time commitment than what you're making it out to be. I raid 4 hours a week, that's for both progress and reclears, and I've cleared the whole tier pugging in party finder.

  12. My first Savage was Edens verse Refulgence, after completing that and looking at other savage content on youtube I can say as a possible point, All savage raids aren't made equal, they're for sure hard but some are more harder then others I'd say. I only did ED8 for the gunblade as well lol that was enough for me to know savage wasn't for me, unless it has a really cool item or armor set I like.

  13. I’m 99% on board. Number 1 is bit tricky. I only say this, as a caster DPS job, who uses a combo of pots, interchangeable gear, materia, other consumables. I can’t tell you how many times I had other complain about my combo rotations, till they see why, I do them. Research is a caster best friend.

  14. I wish I could run Savage, but my main issue is the time commitment. I used to raid in WoW, and I'm sure it needs just the same amount of time. At least FF14 has normal mode for people who just want to see the story, and so I've settled for that. There's always the next expac to backtrack and try Savage content I skipped.
I'd say damage rotation learning issues might also be a thing, but I play Dancer, so outside of a few set buttons, my DPS is reliant on RNGsus.

  15. I really think it's also nice to get into savage when they turn on echo. Then you can do it in PF with pretty reliable success as you join prog parties that are at the point in the fight you are. PF is also pretty reliable once you are a confident savage raider as long as you're making sure to do it on Tuesday/Wednesday when most people that are comfortable getting weekly reclears are doing it.

  16. for everyone saying they dont have time, just wait for guides to come out then pf em. i used to do it in pf when i had less time bc you dont have to commit to a schedule. even ultimates can be progged in pf.

  17. Beautifully said! as a player who just joined in August 2021 I didn’t really get into any savage content pre-endwalker. But I wanted to dive in and it was so scary and cumbersome. Took a bit to get through some static trials and get a group i meshed with and felt had the same level of commitment. Your tips were spot on and I hope people hear it.

Loved the ending too, you’re so positive and supportive Stefan!

  18. I tried to do Savage ONCE in this game. Keep in mind this was the DAY they came out so i thought people wouldnt know all the mechanics. I even looked in the party finder for people who said new prog. So when i got in i asked ONE question about the strategy the entire group disbanded and kicked me? That was so rude and i never went back. This is the part of the community that nobody talks about, people are really rude and obnoxious. Even in extremes people are really cool but savage truly is something i think most NON hardcore people should stay away from.

  19. Just find a group with a similar skill level to you and it's always a fun time. I'm more of a hardcore player, but playing with a casual group can be fun as well, it just depends what YOU want out of raiding

  20. Numbers are scary. I thought the last time I would be scared of numbers was Math Boss in Gough…. but NO! 😀 Parsers terrified me at first. My DPS is still admittedly low, but I've been steadily improving my ABC, been taking fewer damage downs, dying less, and I will be better. This week we're going to clear P2S. I believe we can.

I started doing high end content – mostly Extremes at first – because of Triple Triad. I wanted that mount, and at least one of the items I needed dropped exclusively from an Extreme fight. It … is also why my Dragoon looks so good now as a side effect… and my Paladin Eurekan Glam and… Well anyway, I made friends from Party Finders I was in, and I started "getting gud" not just for my benefit, but for others.

I love helping sprouts, but I also Love supporting my friends, so if they want to do harder content, I'm there… as long as they'll have me. And Now I can take things I've learned to my more casual friends 🙂
