15-Year World of Warcraft Player is BLOWN AWAY by Final Fantasy XIV Trailer – Realm Reborn

This is what it looks like when a Veteran World of Warcraft Players sees the Final Fantasy 14 Trailer for the first time.

Seems like World of Warcraft vs Final Fantasy 14 might finally come to an end.

For me at least, the Final Fantasy 14 trailer really hyped me up to try the game and give it a fair shot.

  1. Great seeing wow players coming over with 1 expansion left, all that content missed in its prime and now they want to put it on yt, the party ended years ago dudes, wow players coming to 14 now clearly made a bad life decision.

  2. Watch the video Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 in a nutshell and watch a video of Final Fantasy XIV 1.0 shutdown last minutes in the game during the Calamity event.

In terms of timeline you start the game after the Shutdown of FF14 1.0 which was completely deleted and destroyed. to remake the game into a much better game which is now FF14 2.0 A Realm Reborn.

Yes the Calamity is literally the original version Final Fantasy 14 getting completely destroyed they made the complete destruction of everything they worked on in FF14 1.0 part of the Lore.

  3. One thing that isn't clear in the trailer is that there's a 5 year timeskip in between Bahamut destroying stuff and the 5 people reappearing in the forest. The person with the axe is representative of the player and features in every trailer. When 1.0 shut down we were only shown the first part with Bahamut winning and the "player" warped away. It was later when 2.0 was ready to be shown that the second part got revealed and it was explained that there will be a timeskip and that for an unknown reason a lot of the vegetation in the destroyed regions started growing back at an increased rate.

The old man teleporting us to safety and smiling as the destruction overtakes him is Louisoix Leveilleur, the founder of a group of people who helped the players throughout the 1.0 journey in an attempt to stop the red moon from falling. Other members of the group feature in the trailer praying for the power to stop Bahamut and later doing stuff in the 5 year later part.

If you were a 1.0 player, or legacy player, and you finished a certain quest in 1.0 you would end up in the middle of the forest just like in the cinematic and get special cutscenes throughout the game involving people recognising you from 5 years ago. you also get a back tattoo and a special mount.

  4. Paladin exists in FF14. It's a tank job that does have protective and healing capabilities. Every single job does a specific thing. Blue jobs are tanks, Green jobs are healers and Red jobs are DPS. So paladin would be a blue job. The choice for your job isn't as significant in this compared to other MMOs because you can swap you job at any time, which means you only need 1 character (I maxed out every job on my char before I quit).

That said, when you start the game you are picking a class not a job. At level 30 each class turns into a specific Job. In the case of Paladin that class is called 'Gladiator'. Any job added post ARR does not have a corresponding class and can be activated upon specific levels (with rogue/ninja being the one exception). Your starting class choice affects which city you start at and slightly changes the first act of the story, but not in a significant way really.

  5. I understand the regret but it's okay right now is the best version of the game. If you had started earlier you might not be as ready for it and it may not have been ready for you. I hope you find joy there. Welcome.

  6. It can be a little confusing on what's going on when everyone vanishes before Bahamut's attack, but it's explained in game through the Binding Coils of Bahamut that unlock at level 50 or so in ARR. Get there and run them and everything will become clear, you'll understand the full scope of what's happened and what it means.

  7. That was Dalamoud(sp?) it was a moon like structure used to hold Bahamut. This is the scene they used to destroy 1.0, shut down the servers and lead into 2.0 A realm reborn. The real life story is as important as the in game story.

Suggestion: watch a WoW refugee guide.

Also, what data center/server did you end up picking?

  8. This trailer ties the failed version of 1.0 of ffxiv to a ffxiv a realm reborn.
1.0 had a LOT of issues. They took time and effort to try to fix it but it was unsalvagable. They had yoshi p and crew try to fix, heard there was crazy stuff near the end of its cycle, spawning crazy monsters, the moon slowly comming down. People who were logged in at the end of 1.0 were treated to this trailer as servers were shut down.
Theres a 3 part documentary on youtube of ffxiv and how it started. They had alot of work thrown on to them in such a small time frame. Its crazy.
Enjoy the game! Its a blast to get thru for sure!

  9. FFXIV is a RPG first, & a MMO second, FFXIV could stand alone as a single player game & people would still enjoy it. WoW could not make it as a single player game … and to me that is what WoW feels like, no one logs in anymore … and now with this sexual harassment lawsuit & nothing released from Activation/Blizzard … no one wants to spend their free time involving something that is going nowhere … and has stopped being fulfilling … and has not beenfun & immersive for 8 years, with the ending of the Lich King era. … time to follow the rats off the ship, its not just sinking, but also has a toxic fire raging out of control & those on the bridge are aiming for icebergs while s-faced drunk… and some how you know they'll still blame the players for EVERYTHING.

  10. Go for it. Sure the trailer seems a bit confusing for players that haven’t played the 1.0 version of the game but it will
Be explained why the world isn’t destroyed completely. Just play the story and don’t skip the cutscenes. Since you are from Germany I guess you play in the EU data center. If you end up on the chaos Data center I’m happy to assist in the game.
