1,000 Hours Of Final Fantasy XIV: Tales Of A No-Longer New Player

After doing 1,000 hours of anything you will have formed some pretty strong opinions and have some stories to tell, and that is for mundane things, not including video games. Over the past year, I have clocked an incredulous 1,000 hours into Final Fantasy XIV and I have some strong opinions and funny stories to show for it… Ok, I might have been ripped off in this deal.

In this video, I recount my adventures and give my opinion on many different aspects of Final Fantasy XIV from the perspective of a player who is new to the MMORPG genre and has just been trying to find their way through the game. Personally, this is my favorite video I have ever made and it was a lot of fun to revisit some of these old stories and have the chance to share them. If there is any aspect of the game I didn’t cover that you would like me to, let me know as I am happy to make a part two.

  1. If you want to find like good Elezen Glamour without buying it yourself you can go to Eorzea Collection and find a catalogue of all the Elezen Glamour that the community submitted

  2. omg the FC thing happened to me too… I've gone through like six and they're either established friend groups or totally dead ;-; my friend finally added me to his yesterday and my god it's weird logging in and buffs actually being up

  3. The things that drove me to insanity, being poor on gils and opening more than 5.000 boxes for the dinosaur back in eureka. I have been playing for a lot and still, I'm scared to fuck it up in Ex or Savage, plus it gives me a lot of anxiety because i'm not with a full 8-man party of frends.

  4. I started in May last year because I finally had a good PC and plenty of time, I played the free trial for a couple of hours to see if I'd like it, and then bought the full game. I now have over 3,074hrs or roughly 128.083333 days, I have a slight addiction. My FC currently has 3 active players because of the other 2 actives, one is on vacation and the other sick. I technically have played other MMOs, but the most I played was like a month or so of WoW, I just couldn't get into it. I still wish I had been there to see FF14 1.0 in person, it sounds like it would've been funny to watch.

  5. As someone with 0 MMO experience before 14, I found that it playing like a single player game, with multiplayer aspects sucked me in, the story was gripping and I soon found myself at 30, sure there was lows on the way, but soon as I hit HW I was hooked, jump forward I've cleared and EX and apst all savage, while I'd love to try Ultimates, I doubt I will anytime soon, but there so much in this game, and more to come in Endwalker. Endgame is more than raids and I'm hoping for more, for years to come.

  8. this wasn't too far off from my own experience, i installed the free trial the week before I started working from home due to lockdown and have been in love with the game since.
if you are still looking for an FC, i'm in one run by YTer TheNightSkyPrince on Excalibur that is always recruiting! we have a lot of new players and it's pretty active, although we mostly do casual stuff like maps at the moment and only have a few raiders. the FC is <Ultim> and i'm Cheysa Tra'veel ingame if you wanna hit us up!

  9. That part about the combat feeling lackluster at below lvl 50? Hard agree.

I'm currently doing NG+ on one of my characters to get ready for Endwalker release and I originally planned to just DF all the dungeons and trials, did like 3 dungeons and then went "Yeah, I think I'm just gonna unsync until Heavensward."

  10. As someone who's only real mmo experience is Gw2, all that talk about statics and FC dilemma sounds just crazy. Why are statics a thing? Can't you just play with others from your FC, get a functional party and start a raid? Is it because of gear requirement?

  11. im in such an awkward situation with my fc. I love them and the ppl in it but its just barely active. Im also a part of two other fcs discords and regularly chat with them. I just wish to make a linkshell for these situations

  12. I have 1,200 hours (started in Summer 2020) and I'm gonna close the book after Endwalker for the Hydaelyn arc closure ! It's been very fun but I'm ready to move on 😀 … I started because I was curious about the story and I've gotten what I wanted and more
