  1. PSA: New players should not be shown Flames of Truth. The last part of it is not part of the original cinematic (End of an Era) that played at the end of 1.0 and in the opening of ARR – it is the big reveal and spoiler from the end of Binding Coil of Bahamut.

When you're showing stuff to new players, show them End of an Era, and let them experience Flames of Truth the proper way at the end of Coil.

  2. Memory a bit hazy but the original intro for FF14 ARR was title "A New Beginning". You only found out that Louisoix saved everyone after you beat Turn 12 of coils.

Before heavenward release, they updated the intro to Flame of truth version because the devs realized a good portion of the player base didn't clear coils and will missed out on how everyone survived the sundering. Since then, the devs moved away from locking major story behind high tier raids and introduce normal raids and savage so that way everyone can at lease clear normal to progress.

  3. I completely forgot that this version even existed lol

Also, I've been playing since the start of 2.0 and still have only gone through half of the coils so far. (got stuck at the one with the ochu type boss since the pugs I found weren't able to complete it)

  4. If you played during 1.0 you were flagged as a Legacy player. If you kept your character from 1.0 and brought it to A Realm Reborn you were given a special tattoo for your character. On top of that there were small changes made to the in-game story. On the intro everyone comes in by carriage or boat, but Legacy players are teleported in 5 years later via Louisiox from the cinematic. After defeating Ultimate Hydalyn clears the memories of all the main characters and they remember you being one of the original Warriors of Light from 5 years earlier in 1.0.

Do a search on YouTube forโ€ฆFFXIV Legacy cutscenes.

Only regret I have is remaking my character so I missed out on the above perks. In addition I think they removed these scenes in-game so they live only on YouTube now.

  5. @Quazii with the increased attention to FF14, is the "first player reacts" angle helping get some more traffic to the channel? It seems like it would be beneficial to reach another audience. Hope things are going well for you!

  6. FF14's Bahamut is one of if not the most powerful force ever to terrorize Eorzea. In the few minutes he was free from Dalamud, he absolutely annihilated several zones, upheaved the environment in some, and completely changed the climate in others.

    A horrifying force indeed.

  7. We had no idea Bahamut was in Dalamud back in 1.x, when servers went down and this played…my mind blown, confused and filled with a lot of emotions and tears. I'm really fortunate to have experienced both 1.0 and ARR to ShB alongside one of my favorite communities in gaming.

I hope you have an amazing experience going through the expansions and i look forward to watch your adventures!

  8. I've never tried The Coils of Bahamut, but if anyone is down to do all turns lmk. I'd like to experience this for myself, I tried going through the duty finder, but even as a tank it's hard to get a party.

  9. It is my opinion that Answers is the road map, the entire storyboard, of the Hydaelyn arc. Everything from 1.0 to the end of 6.0. It's all right there in those lyrics.

  10. Sadly I wasn't able to see the closing of the servers, I never knew they would do something so interesting and fantastic when the game was coming to a close, but from what I have been told from other players I knew in Ver 1.0, they said beastmen flooded the towns, and Dalamuds decent got closer and closer as the timer counted down. Once it hit 00:00 then the cutscene played for Answers. I'm not sure how much of that is true so if there is anyone else who can correct me on that I'd appreciate it.

  11. I was there, from the beginning of 1.0 right to when they shut down the servers in November 2012 (and made us wait another half a year for ARR to start), yeah, Meteor Survivor / Legacy player here.

Two weeks prior to the server shutdown and the release of the Dalamud fall trailer, we were told that that was the cut-off point to save whatever data/progress we had on our characters, to be ported over to 2.0. So there was this two week "lull" period before the eventual shutdown. But those two weeks turned out to be one of the most profound experiences that I have had in this game.

The ingame music changed, creating a rather ominous atmosphere (check this video out https://youtu.be/TzLUASTdV5g?t=97). The red moon had already gotten rather large. We started getting random relic weapons under our bed every day. Mobs started appearing in the towns, most of them way above the level cap of 50. We had no choice but to fight them, and fight them we did. Some of these monsters, upon reaching 1% health, had their health miraculously generated to full. Some people found out later that you could actually instantly defeat the mobs just by /praying to them (i.e. the emote). I tried…. and I died instead (I still have the video up on Facebook somewhere….). We didn't know what was to come, so we formed a wall outside Ul'dah with our Goobbue mounts (and this actually became lore in ARR).

    We were all in despair.
And then finally, the servers shut down, and the trailer hit.

I daresay those two weeks alone united our entire FF XIV community the most.

And as I look back over my own FF XIV journey, there have been people who have picked me up along the way. Thus the only way forward is to keep on giving back, by paying it forward – be it helping out a new adventurer with the ropes, tossing that random Raise on a fallen adventurer, or creating art or content that rallies our community together just like many others are doing now, all for the love of the game and its wonderful community.

Hope to run into you in my adventures someday. Meanwhile, TO HEAVENSWARD! (and prepare the tissues……)

  12. It was a secret to most people and I cryed so hard my wife asked if I was ok it is so long ago just watching this hearing your analysis brings me back to tears

    Also some informations:
There is also a bit longer trailer with the FFXIV ARR intor as the outro which basically closes this whole masterpiece, would suggest watching that part as well ^^
He probably ascendet the moment the Megaflair was going to hit the ground to being Phoenix, he sacrificed his life aether to get all the power he could that is why he vanishes at the end out of aether.

    Another thing.

Noone saw Flames of truth the trailer endet with us being ported away flame of truth came out as soon as the first player actually finished coils of bahamut and saw it themself and suddenly we all knew what happend. we all played coils at least most 1.0 players and … it was heartwrenching.

  13. No idea if it has already been said but this is not the cinematic that played when 1.0 servers shutdown, this was a cinematic they created a bit before heavensward by combining the cinematic from 1.0 ending/ARR with the cinematic you see only if you go into the coils of Bahamut.
