Yoshi-P on FFXIV's Diffficulty & Cross Region Travel | SoH | #393

Yoshi-P was interviewed by Famitsu a few weeks ago, and a quote from that interview has made its rounds on reddit and the official forums. But what did he actually say, and do we agree with him? A cross region data center travel test is on the horizon (but only to Oceania), Final Fantasy VII Remake is likely to get a crossover in the distant future, and we read through an interview with Yoshi-P done by Play Magazine. And of course: MogMail!

  1. I think the most frustrating things the game tells you something can't be done is when the queue pops. You can't change zones, you can change the price of something on your retainer that's already being sold but you can't put something new up for sale even if you're on the price menu, you can't even eat food. It's so bizarre and I hope things like that just get ironed away

  2. Also!!!!
You said CC comparable to CoM, but I'd say it's closer to Days!
CC takes a character who was important and had little screentime and expands on him, and so does Days with Roxas!

  3. i will not stand for Crisis Core slander in this house!
but honestly if you want one that doesn't control so weird, the remaster they did is just the psp game with added Remake combat and uncanny npc faces. Dark Firaga is still just as busted as it ever was.

tinfoil hat theory for Yoshi P's statement involving side scrolling without pitfalls; at least 1 trial boss in Dawntrail will have multiple or changing holes in the arena, like Suzaku and the tree from Pandaemonium. Mostly because that'd actually be really fun and different to affect the arena more.

  4. Noooooo my peaceful Zurvan is going to be flooded 😅😅

I used to be on NA Behemoth so I know what its like to busy though. It'll be night and day.

Come to Zurvan Lukile and have a shrimp on the barbie with us.

  5. “It’s so hard to fail—“

HAHAHAHAHA. AND YET THEY STILL FAIL. XIV is a TalesFromDF simulator and ANY increase in skill floor is going to exponentially increase the misery others’ incompetence inflicts on me. Do not touch the skill floor.

  6. In both cases where Thancred could have died him being the only, or one of the only tanks isn't a reason to say with certainty that he HAD to survive so he could be the tank. If the devs wanted him dead they absolutely could have found a way around the trust system. for example, In shadowbringers they could have used the established dungeon, trial, dungeon, structure to fake us out and could have made the mines part open world content part solo duty. They could have had the dungeon happen after the solo duty with its story being a repurposing of the heroes gauntlet – Eulmore could have decided to just camp outside the opening to the well then take our group by surprise. They could have placed breadcrumbs for a Eulmorean soldier that's sympathetic to our cause, maybe they have a change of heart and they leave the key to our cells just in reach and we manage to sabotage the airship mid-flight, from there its a dungeon where we travel across the world to get back to safety. The story would need some slight changes but since we're already talking about a hypothetical situation where Thancred doesn't make it a change to some of the lead up to his duel and the aftermath isn't out of the question.

  7. I subscribe to this Solution 9 theory because it explains most of the weird stuff about S9 (the proto-alphabet, the friggin Soul Supply…) and also gives us the potential to meet new characters who could be reincarnations of some of the Ancient characters, but without having to bring them back "as themselves" or wait for them to be reborn and grow up or whatever.

I think S9's residents are genomes, possibly led by one or two of the remaining sundered Ascians.

  8. The difficulty statements is giving me hope for Dawntrail if they ramp up the challenge a little bit. If you’re not doing savage you don’t have to pay attention or try at all while you’re playing which is a shame. I’m usually watching anime on my 2nd monitor while i’m doing content and i’m still doing fine without making mistakes/dying.
