  1. They do such a good job calling back on their own lore and mindfully using characters that you might not expect but in that moment make perfect sense. Also seeing Hades unburdened by grief and angry is a lovely touch.

  2. Omg… Ralgr – Zeus, Byregot – Haephestus, ochalon – hermes or apollo, Nald-Thal -Hades (also over wealth and the afterlife, fun facts), Nophica – Demetr. The 12 are literally just parallels with Greek gods… I never realized this before.

  3. Remember when I first hit Elpis, saw Emet, and was like, "We're Kingdom Hearts now…" XD

But relative to his appearance being similar to his ascian incarnation, this can hearken back to a comment he made relative to ascian body hopping and him showing up in a fresh clone. Basically, Solus was as close to his original form that had been tailored or just generally existed without the obvious scaling up to ancient proportions.

As for Elpis, while I can understand your Bioshock reference, think a lot of us old FFers, particularly those who played XI, would see it more as an homage to "Sky" or the Ru'Aun Gardens zone. Obviously, it got a facelift compared to an expansion made circa 2004, but it's got various floating islands, grassy and garden bits, and a few other little nuances. The "government building" look is perhaps the biggest departure compared to the smooth cermet structures, but the XI zone didn't exactly have individual homes and the like, either. Product of its time 'n all that.

Either way, as with a lot of you guys' cooking banter, I just grinned here and there. Questions will be answered. Answers will bring questions. Kyle will probably keep saying Venat wrong, but that's okay. 😛

  4. So, I'm not sure if you figured this out – your conversation about it seemed like you hadn't yet heard – but the Ancients refer to Azem in terms of whatever gender your character is. If you're male, Azem is male, and female if your avatar is female. As for what they look like..that's a much different question.

  5. Such a good video, thank you!

This was the only EW zone that I went out of my way to do all the side quests in. Just because I wanted to experience everything and get all the optional lore I could.

  6. Obviously Emet Selch’s role seems to be investigatory and perhaps even something like a high judge or marshal. Hades, his true self, is the jailor of the dead. But Hades is also known to be the gentlest and moodiest of his brothers. Something tells me that his darkness is more on the side of “edgy moody friend” than “evil sorcerer”.

  7. Guys, it’s not fan service. The story of Endwalker was already written before Shadowbringers was released. They have to take it on faith that players will connect with these characters because like them or not they are coming back.

Not fan service. Just proper planning.

  8. I still think my favorite thing with Elpis is something they did before Endwalker even came out in the dev streams, where they actively showed everyone concept art of the area without a name or in-game screenshots, instead just calling it a "sea of clouds"-like area.

Finding out after release that this is what they were showing us is still insane.

  9. something I thought about in regards to The Twinning, The Tycoon was created as part of the process of merging what was known of Alexander and Omega in order to create the magic needed to send G'Raha and the Tower back in time and to the First, once that spell was created, Tycoon was no longer required. kinda like when Cid and them created the supercomputer to create the cure for tempering, the spell was created, G'Raha memorized it. So the spell that was created with Tycoon was now stored in the Tower and Elidibus was able to still use it.

  10. 17:15 They really need to get around fixing that dynamic weather stuff, especially in reveals like this. There is a nonzero chance that someone's first time playthrough might not be as great as it could be when a character suddenly points towards the sky (*cough* Emet's first monologue with the scions in the First *cough*).

  11. Something to throw a wrench into your cooking, when i went to Elpis, they referred to Azim as "Her," so it matches whatever your current gender is. Also, one of the two ancients, i think Hythlo, says something like "It (as in you) looks just like Azim" so Azim just looks like an Ancient version of your character model.

edit: I had literally paused right before you guys put together the Azem Steppe thing. Just wanted to add, on the Azim soul crystal, the symbol is the symbol of the Sun, instead of a constellation.

  12. I am SO EXCITED for y’all to get here, you have no idea. Every time Garrett lamented the lack of Emet I would grin like an idiot because I knew this was coming. Congratulations, lads. Welcome to Endwalker. 👏👏👏👏

  13. In my game they called Azem a Her. (Im playing female). If we happen to meet them at any point, i imagine the game would just use the same character creation settings on Azems model, the issue comes in with races that aren't Human looking…

  14. Canary girl…theory….became the boss of mt gulg. Her attacks are all music based and we don’t see the sun eater till after canary is ascended. Not confirmed but very popular theory for her fate. Otherwise it makes zero sense with no payoff for the whole canary thing.

Azim steppe….someone hasn’t talked to Urianger for their lore dump lol
