Unless you have literally done everything, there is absolutely no real content drought. You're just out of idess of what to do yourself. I keep forgetting to do my Island which is a very big one. There is also the stuff like Eureka and Bozja that i can do and keep passing up. I'm too focused on trying to make money and get back in Crafting Tribe grinding. I want to become an Omni-Job where my Crafters and Gatherers are all Level 90 with all current Master Recipes and Folklore Books aqcuired. There is also sightseeing logs, PvP, side quest clean up, job quests, Gold Saucer stuff, Glam collecting, Custom Deliveries, and many others I can do to keep me occupied. I just keep forgetting to expand my mostly limited horizons because I was so focused on catching up to the MSQ that now that I reached the current end, I'm need to find something to fill that void in the meantime.
1:55 i see why CU3 did it like that and basially comes down to they were focusing on getting FF16 polished as possible and some the content in 14 suffered like relics plus C19
I play a male Eizen whit facial hair. Ezien and facial hair seam to be unpopular so i rarely ever see clones of myself.
I feel like for the out of content bit. I feel like some people confuse the wording of being burnt out and being bored. You cant really be burnt out of 14 unless you have quite literally done everything the game has to offer and youre done with it for a while or forever! Being bored of the game is what 90% of people experience is what I would say!
4:00 just to clarify, job homogenization refers to when jobs are made more similar in design, not necessarily just numbers. for many players, it means their job loses it's identity when every other job starts getting the things that made theirs unique. i haven't played long enough to experience this personally, but a hypothetical example is if only one healer had the rescue action which was a unique identity of their class; then a couple years later, every healer has rescue to level the playing field and prevent the meta being pidgeon-holed based on special abilities like those. over time, this can make jobs frustratingly similar for long-time veterans, and they'll grow to resent jobs they used to love (or other jobs that took their job's identity away)
There is a massive content draught, this community is just creepily defensive about this game to the point where they have cyberbullied multiple people into suicide on the forums over just having minor criticisms or expressing wishes for certain changes.
To be blunt, there IS objectively a content draught, its not an opinion, its not open to discussion or argument, its a raw fact. Comparing the time spent on average in each content release from any other expansion is sad. Now that doesn't mean the game is dying and its doom and gloom, but it does mean we as PAYING CUSTOMERS have a right to complain that the SUB we're PAYING for the express purpose of constant updates to content between expansions ISNT netting us content.
Wait, how can the ISLAND generate Gil? I thought it wasn't supposed to be able to do that since it had it's own currency and everything there was built and USED there.
The problem I have with ff14 despite having almost 200 days played is that I only really enjoy Raiding and to me, it feels like other content outside of that is as vast as an ocean but deep as a puddle, almost nothing is replayable in this game or gives good enough rewards to incentivize doing it twice outside of Gil farming (Which only matters for people that like housing or the Gil dump mounts/achievements) there are really no other uses for Gil outside of crafted on raid tier release and consumables.
Deep Dungeon is too grindy and monotonous, crafting bores the hell out of me and everyone just uses addons to automate that anyway, making the process AFKable. VC dungeons have no good rewards and are boring for the most part (Here is to hoping the addition of Item-level progressing items helps that first issue) Mount collecting is worthless because 99% of people AFK in cities where you can't show off your mount. Island Sanctuary is a spreadsheet simulator that you can spend 15 minutes a week in and never have to think about it until next week but at least it has exclusive rewards that can't be sold on the MB.
I love FF14 but I really hope for a piece of repeatable combat content that is fun, similar to WoWs Mythic+ in the way that it's just a fun activity to run with your friends with scaling difficulty, but I doubt that will happen at this rate.
Oh and PVP would be fun if the desynch in this game wasn't so dog, currently it's a frustrating experience.
congrats on the move, and owning own place, when you upload i can promise at least ill be here lol but no rush
I find it funny. The people who have been playing for a long time have done everything and want more. Then there's me. I have 359.9 hours in and haven't gotten through Heavensword yet.
I love your chillaxed attitude xD I feel like I keep seeing so much doom content about FFXIV and thought this would be more of the same based on the thumbnail, but it wasnt. Love that you're just taking your time with the game, enjoying it in your own way. I feel like we dont have too many content creators who are casual players and sometimes we lose that perspective.
My hot take is that a lot of what's wrong with the game now is the result of the devs listening to players, from job balance to gameplay mechanics. Jobs nowadays are way more boring than back when I started in Stormblood because people would cry about parses and being suboptimal.
"AST is so bad! I didn't get Balance even when I rerolled 8 times! :("
"My job feels awful because I have a lot of buttons to press before I'm ready to burst alongside my team mates! I want my cooldowns to match theirs! :("
This also applies to pretty much all content.
"The exploration aethercurrents are so annoying!!! Why would they make me explore the map to find them, I'm wasting my time!!! I had to walk all the way around The Lochs to find the last one!!!"
"I DON'T like Eureka!! It's slow and boring!! And the relic grind is a pain!!"
"WHY would they make me go through Delubrum Reginae to do my relic grind!! I DON'T want to do this content to get my relics and I DEMAND an alternative way of doing it!!"
People were actively asking the devs to speed the game up so they'd race to the finish and run out of content quicker, so they trimmed any fun stuff out and now you can get straight to the point. No minigames, no optimizing rotations, no anything. Just run to PTSD15S, press your buttons and get some loot. 0 engagement, just rewards. (And then they complain about the lack of content…)
Give us another chance, let us try to be hotter in our takes
Ha! Jokes on you, I play other games so I CAN'T get burnt out! B)
Congrats on moving & owning your place! Me and my husband just bought a house last month too c:
Doing the Shar gauntlet while watching this… so yeah, BG3 is my pallet cleanser.
Stormblood DID have the best raid content. That's not even a hot take.
