Has Final Fantasy XIV Peaked? 🤔

Now that the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiark has reached a conclusion, is it all downhill from here? What are some positives that show the future is bright and what are the negatives that make me worry?

  1. Been watching your FF14 videos for a few days now, loving the content and love that you play this with your family!

Note: I did start writing this out as I was going through the video so some bits I've said are things you said later in the video lol! And also sorry for this huge wall of text!

For me personally up until now, the story has had up's and downs. ARR was pretty much the "Getting to know everyone" part of the game, Heavensward was pretty kickass, Stormblood was… Stormblood. But going from that, to Shadowbringers, the way everything was told, everything you go through, see, experience, and with Banri Oda and Natsuko Ishikawa at the helm, just as they were for Endwalker, I've got zero doubts that the story will be just as good if not better than before. Yes the 13 year story with the ascians is over, but there's still so much more to see. On the FF14 world map it only shows us Three continents, and at the end of Endwalker, Emet Selch asks us if we've been to the ruins beneath the waters of the bounty, or the treasure islands of the frozen waters of Blindfrost in othards north, the fabled golden cities of the new world and the sacred sites of the forgotten people of the south sea isles, and of course Meracydia in the southern continent. Not only all of that, but there's still a lot more story to tell regarding the Twelve too! Even though they are tied to the alliance raids, there could be more story they want to tell with that. AND there are still shards and other worlds we haven't been too yet.

With Yoshi-P dividing his time between both FF14 and FF16, he's said before in a few interviews that he'll never stop working on FF14 and giving it his all. It is a little worrying in a way, but not so much for either game's quality going downhill, it's moreso a worry for his health, he's done a lot for FF14 since he took over and personally I don't ever see him giving up on it, that and he's said that he has plans for the game for the next 10+ years. Given his dedication and everything he's done for us so far, I've no reason to think that'll change. Though taking a break from FF14 to play other things is something he's said he prefers people doing, the game isn't going anywhere, it'll always be here whenever people want to come back and play for a major patch.

As for the content, yes things have pretty much been the same, give or take a few things, since ARR, but we've gotten some amazing QOL stuff over the last few years, even giving people the choice to play this as a single player game (for the most part), granted that's not enough to make people stay of course, but it's a step in the right direction for starters. Island sanctuary isn't too bad, yes it's slow, grindy, though I suppose that's the point of it, but it IS just the first part of it, in the next major update to it, there will be a brand new area, new things to do, maybe a similar thing to what we have now, but a lot more polished with a lot more to do. The games graphics have been almost unchanged, but that's mostly due to console limitations, though that will change in 7.0 when the next expansion comes out. They've given examples of what it could be, but I'll not get my hopes up too much until they give us a concrete look at what it will be for certain. I'm very bias toward this game, I've played it since pretty much the start, but I'm not blind to it's faults either, it does need updating, in a lot of ways, and as you said given Yoshi's track record of making something a masterpiece, I don't have a doubt that we will get those changes the game needs. But who knows, we'll have to wait and see!

  2. Just gonna comment on the FF16 part here with Yoshi-P being the producer for it. He's been on it since 2015 with pre-production. If the worry is him dividing his time between multiple projects is a thing, it would have shown with all the expansions we've had already. He's pretty much done working on that game now that it's finished and pretty much ready to go next month. One more thing, the next expansion is gonna get the visual overhaul so I really don't think they'd invest in something that big if they just wanted to maintain the game and not go for something even bigger.

  3. As someone who's played most of the content out now post 6.0, I can tell you they're not done with the games story by any means. I won't give specific spoilers. but I'm still having fun, thats for certain, but I also understand that varies for everyone.

  4. Nope. There's a lot more to come.

Tell me, have you been to the ruins beneath the waters of the Bounty?

Or the treasure islands beyond the frozen waters of Blindfrost, in Othard's north?

The fabled golden cities of the New World? The sacred sites of the forgotten people of the south sea isles?

What about Meracydia, the southern continent? Do you know aught of its present state of affairs?

… I thought not. Even of your little Eorzea, you know precious little. The true identities of the Twelve, for instance.

All of which is to say: expand your horizons. Go forth and seek discovery.

Some of the civilizations in the reflections will surprise you.

As the bearer of Azem's crystal, you may consider your duty to see at least that much.

    I certainly did.

The inclusivity of the playstation determines a lot for FFXIV compared to another MMO such as WoW. WoW allows you to play on a weaker computer (good) but in terms of 'fresh perspectives', FFXIV will always be updating their engine to keep up with new playstations which in essence guarantees it will keep up.

  5. I think people are reading waaaay too much into the ending ofvthe Zodiark/Hyadalen(?) arc. They've already started the process of moving onto the next arc of the story. As far as im concernened all this is just part 1, and if what Yoshi-P says holds true, i can't wait to see what happens to shake the course of this star from 6.4 on

  6. The planet is saved, not the universe.
The other shards, the other continents, and unsolved issues with outter worldy races.
Endwalker express that yes the immediate issue is solved but the ramification of Ancients actions still persist.
We still have other lesser Ascians roaming other shards.

I dont think him working on XVI and XIV at the same time is an issue, considering XVI is finished developed.
It would have been a concern if this was done during shadowbringer.

Personally, I want more quality of life changes, re-do mission with exp in new game+ ,
better leveling timeframe so I would be more willing to try difference classes in a short time. "
Not having to wait 6 week in the latest cotnent to be max item level to try to do new content efficently.
This is a reach but more voice acting scenes. Make Blue Mage a real class LOL.

  7. I honestly feel like 7.0 is gonna make it or break it for alot of people. Endwalker was such a solid closer that even I have gone from playing everyday to playing maybe once every 2 weeks at best. Even the current story itself while good is just not as gripping as whatbcane before. So I expect whatever is shown at fanfest will either pull folks in or make em finally check out

  8. The game will be fine. People seem to think when their slice of the pie is not in a place they like the game is going to die. Happened when they canceled the second ultimate for Shb, happened when lala stool looked like a child chair and somehow its happening now that the first story arc is over. New games come and go, people come and go but the game lives on. I really don't put any value on streamers coming and going, a huge amount of them came to FF14 with the classic "After billion years of wow, ex wow player tries FF14" streamer starting package. You know with the classic welcome to every expansion, a carry through UwU and a package of expensive mounts lol. Then quit after Msq.
