the argument that it has more fans is funny. like dog if no one played or voted for your favorite ff game probably means it aint that good and had little impact that 14 did. "its unfair cause…" is just copium at its finest.
Reasons why a game is objectively bad.
1. I don't know the game
2. I don't know anyone who plays the game
3. I heard it was trash by x person.
4. I don't like the game because x.
5. It beat the game I like to play more in the game awards.
Almost saying Canada is not a real country with a culture because of its diversity. Or English is not a real language because it uses other languages in its own language.

TBH, emet deserve that rank only if u play ff14 or know the story. At 1st i also dont really like his design when he appear until mid/late 5.0.

Honestly these polls do feel a little biased based on the fact it is Japanese only poll as if it wasn’t I think xiv would be at like 5th place that said I would definitely vote for it as not only is it my favorite ff game it is one of the best games I have every played

Final Fantasy XIV does suck at this point. I am a long time player, but the direction the game has gone in is pretty terrible. Endwalker is a huge letdown, and the way the story gave Venat a free pass on omnicide is disgusting.
Man I love 14 an djust started it a few months ago. Just got through Stormblood MSQ. And best character in 14 so far is…..my boy Thancred
To be fair, and I didn't enjoy 14 nearly as much as the older games, and 11 is much better for my taste.
BUT TO BE FAIR, 14 is probably the best FF in 10 years like the tweet stated.
this is so weird to me because the only reason i gave XIV a chance at that time IS because I was already a fan of the franchise, so even though I really didn't care for mmos I gave it a try and I'm happy I did. so I wonder even though it's an mmo, shouldn't people be at least curious? I remember I would get so excited when I saw moogles or chocobos or any other typical ff stuff 🤔
as someone who's played all the main FF games (except 11 sadly) and some of the side games, sequels, spin offs, a couple of chocobo games and more… I always smile when I see references to the other games
and sometimes gasp when I see something that reminds me of frustration

I have had a hard time getting into the FF series after X. The series just changed too much for me. But when I started playing XIV I realized that everything I loved about Final Fantasy was in this game. The series is alive and well within XIV.
There is literally nothing more Final Fantasy than Final Fantasy 14. These poeple are hard coping.

I encountered similar sentiments back when I play FFXI. So many gaming friends would brag about playing every FF since 7 or 6 3 or just all of them. I'd get so excited, thinking I could have more friends to adventure with in Vana'diel (and end my hours of lfg in the Dunes) but pretty much everyone said the same thing when I asked which XI server they played on: "Oh, we didn't mean 11. That's not a real Final Fantasy game."
As someone whose favorite game series is Final Fantasy, I definitely hated 11 and 14 as part of my umbrella hatred for MMOs. After 10 years, I finally decided to try 14, and still hated it up to about level 30. But, through perseverance, I finally made it to the end of ARR base game. By that time, I was really falling in love with this game. Now, 2 months into playing, I admit that I absolutely adore this game and my arrogance kept me away for way too long. I still hate MMOs, but FFXIV is MY one MMO.

FF14 is a real FF game. I dont have a problem with the game, its pretty good. is it the best objectively? probably not.
Is it ridiculously popular? yes.
Do I think the popularity is warranted? no. Is it necessary? Yes.
I dont hate the game. I hate the vast majority of liars on the internet who go "Its the best FF game in years." and then touched FFXV for 10 minutes or Stranger of Paradise for 5, and then skipped the 7 remake.
Stop saying its the best FF game ever, when you have hardly played through the other games.

My top 10 list is different as I think personally that 6 is the best ff, followed by 14, 7 and 10. But this ( 3:34 ) is just…dumb. You verbatim pick and choose what your character will say and it in turn affects some of the things or responses you get, not all the time, but most times. Your character has a voice. You are literally the MC in 14 and they treat you as such. The story starts, and ends with you. From a random adventurer in Uldah or Limsa or Gridania lookin to make some gil, to a feared God Slayer that gives the world hope. You are that character in 14. Other MMOs don’t do that, hardly at all.

We have Cid, Moogles, Chocobo, Crystal etc. What is really the heart of Final Fantasy that make it an FF game ? I mean mmo is not that bad.
I'll never be able to consider 14 a good rpg. As almost all rpg elements have been removed or watered down.
That said it's an excellent game. Started playing back in 1.0. Came back off and on for years. Only recently quit. Got tired of the lacking rpg elements & customizable character progression the series is known for.
Nor do i have any issues saying its the best story. People have every right to like 14 as much as they want. Add to that 14's popularity does nothing but help the brand. And will no doubt continue to lead to even more FF.

FF14 makes too much sense to be a real Final Fantasy. If you want a real Final Fantasy you have to have a confused audience at the end of it arguing about how to interpret the narrative mess they just played through. Even FF1’s plot was about sending the last boss to the past so he could unlock some evil so that they could send him to the future so he could travel to the past to free them so they could send him to the future so he could travel to the past… yeah.
Nah people with bad takes deserve to be bullied. Imagine the damage they do on a daily when they open their mouths lol
