Used to play a lot during BC, WotlK and up to around Fireland Cata. Had like 600 day played or something… But I just slowly drifted away. Resubed once to play the Panda storyline during MoP.
I just sort of lost interest around the same time Arthas died, the last big link from its rts days.
I sort of imagine it this way:
WOW: FATHER… Is it… over?
Blizzard: At long last my son… no king rule forever.
WOW: I see… only bad Xpacs… before me…
(Sure they were not all awful, but still)
I dont care about all this scandals around Blizzard. The main reason to left WoW for me is transforming it to some kind of session game. I've tried BfA and for me it was like: "Yo hello, how about some Mythic+ before raid?", "Yo, how about Mythic+ after raid?", "Yo, how about Mythic+ on weekends?". There were no gurantee loot in raids, besides stats on raid items were shit, so every damn day i had to farm damn Mythic+. And because inflation in game was high in the sky i had to change my professions to alchemy and farm grass for pots about 3 to 4 hours on weekends. So after some time i left and big weight released from shoulders. I felt like i was Atlas who was spared from necessity to hold the sky.
First thing first, there's not enough goblin girls in this world.
Secondly, great to see that you have found a new home. I've never got myself into WoW as I was curb stomped by a high level orc while got my first levels. Were but a wee lad that did not know any gamer lingo like that PvP was player versus player.
Have been with XIV since 2.0 and the journey have given many ups and downs, new friends made and lost. Even deaths.
I myself play on Famfrit, along with one of larger FCs on that world, The Little Flower or LOVE. Hope we may play together on day!
Regarding listening to fanbase, I believe Blizz doesn't change the painting of women back due to sexual reason even though it causes a backslash in the playerbase (correct me if I'm wrong). Meanwhile with FF, when they made 2B leggings decreased the butt size, it causes an outrage in the community and they fixed it in 1 day and apologised for it.
Talking about the plot, you like the story because you are main character. Everything revolves around you. You are the centre of everything. Bad guys try hard to get rid of you. I don't play WoW anymore but I heard from my friend that Jailor (the Thanos guy) kidnapped a lot of important heroes like Jaina, Anduin, Thrall, etc. BUT you. It seems like you are not that important as you think even though you saved the Azeroth multiple times.
