  1. This is a great example of how the 'player experience' is not exclusively gameplay or complexity. The mechanic is SUPER simple.
A good experience is the ability to invoke in your audience, with every element of the moment from sound to layout strengthening ideas.
Right here, for a tank, that idea is "I'm going to stop this shit, and save all of you." and it feels so fucking good.

They have the tank forward, away from the pile during it. That helps, it makes them more distinguished.
There's so many good things in this one damn moment that are so deeply abstract, and beyond the capabilities of some other popular mmos.

  2. I'll never stop saying that Susano'o, while being a relatively simple fight like Odin's, is hype as fuck for tank players.
There was a period when I was constantly queuing for the Odin fight just to tank him…same for Susano'o.

  3. Went through The Orbonne Monastery last night and the community with the cutscenes are just awesome. "Congratulations! you lived!" "Lived to die on this part"

That alliance raid is just ridiculous and awesome.

  4. I was already sold on the game, but I had a similar moment last night when I fought the last opponent of the first half of Paladin tournament. We were almost perfectly matched, and I fought him for at least twenty minutes. He almost brought me down several times, but I kited him until I had enough mana for Clemency and went back in.

I fought so hard using every single trick I had. The story is so compelling to me that I just couldn't bring myself to lose because the Warrior of Light couldn't let them all down. I was shaking when it was over and it was SO MUCH FUN. I felt like I'd earned that victory.

  5. I remember running Susano for the first time with a friend who ran it before. Both of us were tanking, and he told me to step in the spot. Not knowing what was going to happen and being the tank that stopped the sword gave me such a high. I'll always be thankful to my friend for giving me that experience.

  6. I love this one on roulettes, except when the healers are newbies AND some random dps tries to tank the sword and kills us all.
If you're gonna try to take the sword as dps at least check your healers' gear to get an idea if they are new players or not and reconsider your actions.

  7. Fun fact: when the sword lands, it freezes the rain droplets in the air
A super sick detail that most people miss
Oh, and he changes from his shell sword to said sword in phase 2 which is why he hits so much harder

  8. When I did this for the first time I was a SAM and I stole the position to block the sword from the tank. Never let them get it ever again, its amazing to feel the satisfaction of blocking the raid wiping sword from hitting the ground.

  9. First time running this as dragoon. Didn't look up the fight. Definitely clicked the icon as soon as it popped up, in the past if there was something to click everyone clicked it. Man oh man did I not realize what I was in for. I apologized immediately after lol
