Our Final Fantasy 14 journey continues! Today we are continuing our journey through Stormblood and doing our third dungeon Bardam’s Mettle!

Welcome back to Tiny Blue Games! My name is Csaw or Chris, and today we are talking about Final Fantasy 14 in 2021. Today we are continuing our journey through Stormblood. This video features a live playthrough of Bardam’s Mettle, the 2nd MSQ dungeon in Stormbloog. This dungeon was a lot of fun! In particular, the second boss had me on my toes the entire fight.

As a relatively new ffxiv player, I have enjoyed giving my first impressions of the many different pieces of content this game has to offer. If you are interested in exploring the game yourself I suggest you check out the Final Fantasy 14 free trial. This trial lets play all the way to level 60 (including both the base ARR and Heavensward expansion), with no time restrictions. It was ultimately the free trial that convinced me to dive into the full game and the new Shadowbringers expansion!

👀 Did I do “okay” at dodging stuff during the second encouter?

  1. Nice to see you’re about halfway through SB.

I’m curious on whether you’ll do the end of 4.0 on stream because I think it would be awesome to do the final quests with you.

  2. So, I know I usually do a big boss mechanic breakdown for your dungeon play through videos, but this time, you pretty much figured out everything. And the only thing that was wrong was some incorrect information that your party told you. For the first boss, Garula, hiding behind the animals actually doesn't help at all. What does help is distance; the further away from the boss you are, the less damage you take from Rush. Any animals he charges near will wake up and then attack the players with an AoE, ideally you wouldn't wake up any of the animals, but as far as I'm aware, this isn't possible. I guess it is also worth noting that they do reuse that tether design in the future, and it always means the same thing, get farther away to reduce the amount of damage you'll take.

  3. I'd say that the job story quest videos are best done in 10 level chunks since that's basically how they function after the initial 50 anyway. Plus, the last one for level 70 will actually be basically the last one you ever do for your class so it will be a good time to reflect on the whole job story and to give any comparisons and critiques if you're looking for more of a way to spin it into a full video. That said, I don't really find the Samurai story to be all that interesting overall so it's quite possible you'll get through the whole thing and still not have much to say.

  4. This is a dungeon I like (granted I like all but 1 Stormblood dungeon which I won't name as you've not reached it yet), also I've seen even veterans getting caught off guard in that corridor before the final boss and getting big black balls in their face and not in a good way.

  5. I wish there was a fight like the second boss here in earlier dungeons to teach people what certain markers were. It would really help out the playerbase

  6. I really like the "boss" fight that is basically Hall of the Novice but now Hall of the Experienced. What have we learned children? XD So, yeah, the floor is divided into 4 pieces, so everyone is responsible for themselves. The Yol boss is one of the few in dungeon you'll find where Ranged (Bard/Dancer/Machinist) are encouraged to use their LB before the enemy HP fall low (basically when the wings become targetable) if a Mage (RDM/BLM/SMN) isn't available. It usually destroys the wings, so the attack pattern isn't so crazy 🙂
