Weekly limitations / lockouts is definitely the main factor to me getting burned out from raiding. It was fine while I was younger and had more time for games but these days some weeks are busy while others are fine. So it would be nice to be able to focus on getting stuff on the calm weeks and not having to think about it on busy weeks. Right now it just ends up feeling like a chore instead. If Cloud of Darkness Chaotic is free of those limitations it will definitely make me considering doing endgame PVE again.
sadly, its too late
this should drop with 7.1
I wish they would do a 1 item per floor per week like with normal if they dont want people going all out.
I also wish I could do m4s before m1s without locking the rest of the floors.
There have been some times where my static skips the first two and later in the week ive been asked for help and i cuts them out a chest.
It should drop with 7.1 also unlock the savage tier as well. The old formula doesn't make sense anymore.
Weapon upgrade lockout makes no sense
Savage not having lockout in release may be too much….BUT! What about a daily lockout for the drops (not the token), remove the penalty for having people in your group already cleared for tht lockdown and also implement the chaotic system of bonus loot/tokens for new people and the "happy hour" on rotation on different data center where that happy hour, there is no daily lockdown, that way you can spread out savage raiding to other DCs, instead of everybody just being on Aether
I feel the same way about gear, I'd be willing to bet many people do. Lockouts shouldn't last more than a month. I just want a game that I can play and enjoy whenever with whomever, none of this weekly lootcuck nonsense. It's the worst aspect of MMOs, and I find myself often playing multiple. It's probably partly the reason why I started playing DQX.
A game should be a game, not something you have always schedule your life around to enjoy. You may disagree with this, but many of the systems in XIV exist because of this sentiment, as a direct response the struggles that XI presented.
Lockouts aside, it's always good to have more options for gearing, maybe then healers won't be stuck in Piety jail.
It’s coming out way too late for it to matter
It felt like an intentional design flaw making it so you're practically forced to only play a single role..
In an MMO where being able to play every role on one character is one of the MAIN selling points..?????
Gearing lockouts aren't unnecessary for the first month. There should be SOME sense of cutting edge clearing and reclearing for the general mass of raiders. Something like the AotC achievement chain from WoW should be a thing for clearing within that month, and it should give some kind of exclusive reward for people doing so on content, like a title(clearing M1-4 in the first 4 weeks of the content drop would be something like <Featherweight Champion>, for example).
After that first month of lockouts, however, gearing should become unrestricted. We should be allowed to farm each turn of a tier til everyone is BiS for that turn before moving on. You lose out on the title for not clearing the content when it's brand new, but it's much more casual and midcore friendly to allow a group to take a night to farm up one single turn before never needing to touch it again. Also, allowing anyone who's cleared a turn to just skip that turn without needing a taxi is a must.
ironically enough, if they unrestricted everything, everyone would be happy, rush obtain everything then dip, then the SAME content creators will come out saying the game's dead/content drought/not enough quantity of content each patch resulting in this pendulum swing effect
I could careless about stuff being lockout if it wasn’t because Stats in this games are so goddam boring we got crit a stat and crit b stats then thee is det which just another weapon dmg stats it’s so stupid
hoenstly the penalty for joining groups after you already cleared is the most annoying part, like I wanna be able to get better at the fight by doing it more, but not at the cost of others
Probably a hot take, but I actually believe that lockouts (at least on-patch) are healthy for the game.
Without weekly lockout, people are not incentivised to go and do the fight after the first two weeks. This makes it even harder for someone in pf who started the tier late to get a full pt to go in and clear the content. The possible argument that people will join in anyway for the fun of the fight itself or because they want to help others is moot when we look at the state of content like Criterion Dungeons.
The fact of the matter is, if there's no incentive to do the savage raids weekly, the vast majority of players is not going to do them – which in turn means that people in PF who might not have been available to catch the first few weeks of the patch will be left high and dry.
Now, the incentive doesn't HAVE to be gear lockout, but there must be SOMETHING that makes it desirable to do these fights repeatedly over the course of the patch, or PF dies a quiet death.
Sorry if I come off as sarcastic or rude in any way, I generally think the idea proposed is good, though I would like to share some possible things that may go against the mentioned
The tome limit should be increased, though my assumption is that they don't want people to burn themselves out trying to obtain all their tome gear due to IRL things, friends that I speak with generally don't have time to get their weekly tomes due to School or Work, though they do try to set aside an hour or two to have that weekly tome cap done if possible
Main thing is that it could be imbalanced in a way since of people having to attend in daily life, versus someone who has a heavy amount of time to spend on the game, it feels like a semi-unfair thing when seen in that way, though I can understand that is a bit of an iffy thing of me to say
Weekly Lockouts are a different thing, there is an assumption I have about this aswell, that being to extend people's interest in doing those weeklies whenever possible, the above mentioned could be shared here in a way, though I get there is many different sides to that topic
Maybe a silly idea, they could increase the reward amount gained from those lockouts, i.e. M3S, it currently gives 4 Items, Solvent, Twine, Chest & Leg Coffer, what could be done is that they could add 2 items that are the same for one of the mentioned pieces, so another Chest & Leg coffer to grab, or Solvent as it's helpful to augment tome gear
There is holes in the statement I share though I am fine to admit that, I'm honestly unsure how people may think of these, though I'd enjoy to see how people feel regarding these ideas, that said this video is nice and I like what you mention, thank you for sharing your thoughts !
