The (Near) Future of FFXIV

But is it enough to last?

One small note: I mentioned in the video that the cooldown of Ley Lines would probably be reducing, then whilst re-watching the video for release I zoomed in LOL. The cooldown is staying the same, you just get the bonus stack for leniency/1 freebie.

  1. The raider part of me is more excited for 7.1 than I've been in a long time. The social part of me, however, is absolutely dreading having to spend all of my time away from my friends and FC, over on Light DC come patch time.

  2. Doesn’t make a lot of sense for chaotic alliance to be released so late.. should have come out before ultimate (though I realize most participating will already be BIS.) I feel like it will take a lot for a BLM era to reign again unless it becomes on par w/ PCT for overall DPS. I know several groups who have players who prefer BLM 100% but play PCT simply because it doesn’t make much sense not to. Relics being released so late also makes little to no sense. SE has become so slow releasing content / evolving this game it’s becoming really frustrating as someone who is bored out of their mind w/ nothing to do on a regular basis. Login on Tuesday for my reclears (though I don’t even need to do that now) and nothing left for an entire week. I love the game but something needs to change “for me” to keep going. Mind you, I understand the majority of the player-base is not in the same boat so it doesn’t matter😂

  3. Wow chaotic rewards are sounding perfect, but too little too late. They had time to try this last expansion. Honestly disappointed that it took this long now that I've quit. But to everyone enjoying this, I'm rooting for your enjoyment.

  4. In all honesty, it's great that different content is coming to FFXIV. I still love the story despite some of the grips from other people about it. Or hating on it because it's the new thing to do. I am probably in the Positivity Category. But I uninstalled all my other MMORPGs to play FFXIV only.

  5. Excited for the chaotic alliance raid but concerned about the comment on it being harder because of the amount of players. Frustrating to prog a fight while a few people messing up mechanics wipes the party. Fingers crossed it won’t be that bad.

  6. I mean the ranked pvp reward is just not good… You have to make it to diamond to get the weapon. It is just not worth the stress man. Back then during ranked feast, You can get a fraction of a weapon skin even in bronze. Although l made it to Crystal for the sage weapon Few seasons ago,l really hate the current implementation for weapon skin reward. It is nothing short of elitism and gatekeeping. If they worry about people feeding and stay in bronze, fine do this: 20 wins in this season are required to be eligible for the reward.
And, demotion not being a thing below diamond is just ridiculous. That needs to be changed

  7. I believe that a good compromise with the relic weapon is to release the first step without releasing the field operations. If they plan to do it similar to Bozja, having in (fast) and out (slow) of Bozja ways for each step, they can release the outside way of doing it then make it faster when the field operation drops.

  8. for the BLM stuff… correct me if I'm misunderstanding things but don't they show the cooldown ticking and its more than 60secs so I think it's just a drift counter-meassure.

You can't LL at 4minutes into the fight because heavy movement and have to do yours 30 seconds later? Now with it having stacks that means you'll be able to do that and get back on the timeline for 6minute buffs instead of having it misaligned for the rest of the fight. But yeah, a bit speculative.
//nvm, just saw you mention it in the description. Ignore me

  9. Really excited about the new content, but I just wish chaotic wasn’t released so late. It looks really fun and repeatable, but it’s so late in the patch that we only get like 2 months with it before 7.2. Spheeeeene extreme does look to be pretty fun though.

  10. first steps for the relics started in these patches

    ARR: 2.0
    HW: 3.15
    SB: 4.25
    ShB: 5.25
    EW: 6.25

as much of a grind the ARR relics are, the steps were introduced in many updates throughout the entire base game, not just the last half or so of it. so many different types of objectives to do even though they went a bit overboard with a couple of them cough books cough

HW relics while the easiest at least have many multi part steps to each one.

idk enough about SB/ShB relics other than SB is all done in Eureka (which in of itself is a grind) and ShB can be mixture of in and out of Bozja?

EW relics is just unfortunate that from my understanding is just a poetic grind

they need to go back to having at least a somewhat grindy first step (or MANY small objectives) on expansion launch.

  11. Based off of the translation of Yoshi P's comment about working on a system that involves every kind of content makes me HOPE that it will be a Cross-DC duty finder (with accompanying Cross-DC party finder). His comment is so intriguing and yet vague enough to go anywhere with it haha

  12. Great vid recapping the details and sharing insights. Only 2 things – 1) Would have been a nice thing to add a projected release date of 7.2 so that we can gauge just how long this content is supposed to last. 2) People keep putting the word "casual" alongside Extreme and Savage. They are worlds apart lol. Casuals will not watch 15-20 minute videos explaining how to do content.

  13. The PVP update got me hot and ready, but man I am taking a break off until Chaotic Alliance raid. I don't Ultimate raid, farmed my relics (guess I'll start another ARR one YoshiP, look at what you make me do) but it's a very clear "go and play other games" patch for me.
But I'm soooo glad the stuff can be bought at the MB, has no weekly and so on. Can't wait to teach some sprouts in my FC and casually get back into Savage.

  14. Only things I'm looking forward to are the chaotic raids (my old Destiny raid friend and I plan to tackle it after Christmas) and the new dungeon gear.

Especially the dungeon gear since I enjoy the old-fashioned military vibes the armor radiates. I'd like more new dungeon gear compared to Endwalker but I won't get my hopes up

  15. One concern I have about chaotic alliance raid is the fact that it is "enterable" and "practiceable" with 12 people, without scaling. Would that mean that mechanics in the raid would be mechanics that can be resolved with 12 people doing it? (especially with the towers and such)

  16. i agree with the tomecap increase its so weird that they are so protective about it tbh they should just double the tomecap on odd patches temporarily and when 7.2 comes change it back to 450

  17. weekly lock after like a month of savage being out makes no sense w how many books you need for gear for alt jobs, hopefully more farmable content will solve the stagnating feel of patch cycle xiv has, having stuff to do in a videogame is only a good thing, framable content with incenitive is good

  18. I'm assuming Relics are tied to Occult Crescent, and therefore probably start with the .2 set, but I agree that Relics are getting shoved to the back of the expansion a lot. I also hope that EW was a nadir of Relic content, and it's uphill from here.
